The roar of the black-gold flame dragon echoed through the night sky. Its ferocious head loomed over the dark magic instructors, its indescribable majesty causing many to tremble.
Since returning from the ruins, this was the first time Dragon Baby had been summoned in public. It was night, and most of Stan Town’s residents were hiding in their homes, quaking in fear. Yet the dragon’s roar in the darkness sent a soul-deep shock through them.
“A dragon, it’s a dragon!”
“The curse of the Magic Emperor, he summoned a dragon!”
As a beast revered as the god of all creatures in ancient times, the dragon’s appearance instantly shattered the arrogant bravado of the dark magic instructors. Though made savage and brutal by their dark magic books, they were powerless before the dragon’s might. Some, upon seeing Dragon Baby, panicked and tried to flee.
The once-arrogant caretaker nearly collapsed, his legs buckling. The dark magic book had given him confidence, but deep down, he remained the timid, fearful graveyard keeper.
Ye Chui smirked at the panic caused by Dragon Baby, reminded of a movie from another world where an alien invader boasted of countless armies, only for the flashy protagonist to calmly reply, “We have Hulk.”
Could he one day summon a team of superheroes to show off?
Ye Chui waved at Dragon Baby, pointing coldly at the dark magic instructors. “Kill them. Show no mercy to these evil dark magic instructors!”
“Roar!” Dragon Baby flapped its wings, its massive tail thrashing, letting out a thunderous, irritable bellow. “I agreed to help you, but this dragon is proud. You have no right to command me, and I don’t have hands to show mercy with!”
As it grumbled about its stance, a bolt of lightning magic struck its head, interrupting it. Its slit-pupil eyes locked onto the attacker: the caretaker.
After instinctively attacking Dragon Baby, the caretaker saw the dragon’s gaze and trembled, fear overwhelming him. “I, I didn’t mean to…”
“Roar!”
Black-gold dragon flames poured forth, incinerating everything. Black and gold intertwined in the blaze, capable of burning even magic itself. Before the caretaker could react, his body turned to ash under the terrifying flames, his magic book’s pages fluttering like butterflies, burning one by one.
Ye Chui: “…”
The other dark magic instructors screamed in terror, some fleeing in disarray, others attempting to attack Dragon Baby. The dragon let out a sky-shaking roar, its massive head turning to Ye Chui, its fearsome maw seemingly grinning. Its rough voice continued, “But this dragon has a mouth, and it never goes soft.”
“Roar!” Its three-to-four-metre-long body leapt into the air, wings spreading as it soared, then dove with terrifying momentum into the crowd of dark magic instructors.
Magic and dragon flames clashed, dark spells meeting the dragon’s fire.
Fortunately, Lando Street, Stan Town’s main thoroughfare, was wide enough to accommodate this bizarre battle.
Ye Chui watched Dragon Baby wreak havoc among the dark magic instructors with satisfaction. The sight left Old Merlin, Luos, and the others utterly stunned. They knew Ye Chui had summoning abilities, but summoning a dragon, especially the legendary black-gold flame dragon, was beyond comprehension.
Daibi’s Valkyrie was an epic-level spirit, but Dragon Baby was a legendary spirit, surpassing epic.
Two hundred magic instructors? Dragon Baby could handle them alone.
In terms of power, Dragon Baby was stronger than Valkyrie Jiji, roughly equivalent to 1.5 Jijis in Ye Chui’s estimation. (The Valkyrie was a mass-produced combat unit of the gods, a fair unit of measurement.) In the gods’ ruins, Jiji could barely handle the Red Devil, while Dragon Baby overpowered and killed it.
Seeing Dragon Baby’s prowess, Luos, Kas, and the others, previously terrified by the two hundred dark magic instructors, brimmed with confidence. Jiji, now a little girl in Daibi’s arms, waved her hands excitedly. This was the glory of the gods!
But at that moment, Old Merlin and Jiji sensed something, their faces shifting as they looked towards the church.
Under the moonlight, a blood-red glow shot into the sky, like a massive crimson crack splitting the air. A chilling aura emanated from it. Soon, Leisha, as a nun, sensed it too, exclaiming, “The Apostle is about to be summoned!”
The massive crack resembled Daibi’s summoning gate. The terrifying First Apostle Adams was about to crawl through.
“We must stop her now. We can’t delay here!” Old Merlin stepped in front of Ye Chui, the shirtless, muscular old man gripping his brick. “Leave this to us. Go stop Luoxia.”
Dragon Baby had decimated most of the dark magic instructors, and the survivors were largely broken in spirit, their combat ability diminished. Merlin and the others could handle them. Ye Chui glanced at the blood-red crack near the church, nodded to Merlin, and shouted, “Dragon Baby, stop fighting. Come here!”
“Roar!” Though Dragon Baby considered itself a proud dragon, it respected Ye Chui as its master. With a mighty roar, it circled the sky and landed beside him, its claws cracking the cobblestone ground.
Ye Chui leapt onto Dragon Baby’s back, turning to call Daibi, Leisha, and Green. “No time to waste. Get on the dragon!”
With a mix of odd emotions, Daibi, Leisha, and Green climbed onto the dragon’s back. Jiji, flapping her tiny wings, hovered beside Daibi. Perhaps inspired by Dragon Baby’s fight, the little Valkyrie was brimming with excitement, a miniature light sword forming in her hand like a child’s toy, waving it up and down. “Jiji, jiji, kill!”
“Dragon Baby, head to the crack,” Ye Chui ordered, gripping the dragon’s horns.
With a thunderous roar, Dragon Baby soared towards the church.
“The dragon’s back is so uncomfortable. Should we get a dragon saddle or something?” Daibi said, clinging to Ye Chui’s waist, feeling the rush of speed, echoing Ye Chui’s earlier sentiment.
“Roar!” Dragon Baby let out an indignant bellow. “This dragon was raised to be ridden by the Goddess. It’s your privilege to sit on my back!”
“Tch, your Goddess must have a golden backside,” Daibi retorted, swaying her hips.
Dragon Baby: “Exactly. The Wealth Goddess is made of gold. How did you know?”
Daibi: “Huh?”
Leisha let out a soft groan, complaining gently, “I’m sitting on a bumpy spot. It’s so uncomfortable, ugh…”
“Stop it, or this’ll turn R-rated!” Ye Chui cut her off, sweating profusely. In the minute-long flight to the church, they’d already generated enough banter for a comedy skit.
Soon, the church’s grand structure came into view.
Dragon Baby descended, crashing through the outer wall and gate with a boom, landing smoothly.
In the dark night sky, the terrifying blood-red crack had widened. Horrific tentacles writhed and curled from within, the stench of blood and an eerie chill permeating the once-holy church, causing both physical and mental discomfort.
“Roar!” Dragon Baby bellowed at the crack, turning its head to Ye Chui. “It seems many powerful things have emerged in the world while I slept. My summoning time is nearly up, so I can’t help you with this monster. Be careful.”
“I know. Don’t worry,” Ye Chui said. He hadn’t expected Dragon Baby to fight the Apostle. But as the dragon prepared to take off, Ye Chui paused. “What are you doing?”
Dragon Baby soared towards the blood-red crack, its voice echoing back. “This baby’s gonna test its depths!”
The vivid imagery, suggestive dialogue, blood-red crack, and giant dragon—hadn’t he said no R-rated stuff?
