“Who are you… cough cough… talking about!” The man glared at Lu Zheng, furious, but with water dripping down his face and a choke cutting him off, he had no intimidating presence.
“Don’t take it personally, I’m just saying, some ailments can’t be fixed no matter how much money you have,” Lu Zheng shook his head, crossing his legs casually and humming a tune from “The Past Can Only Be Recalled,” “Time passes, never to return, the past, can only be recalled…”
“Hahaha—”
A few young people nearby burst into laughter. A young woman gave Lu Zheng a thumbs-up, while another young man chuckled, “Can’t you just take some pills to help?”
Lu Zheng shook his head, explaining seriously, “Medicine’s got side effects. Take too much, and you might end up with urinary incontinence.”
At that, the young man asked skeptically, “No way, really?”
Lu Zheng shrugged. “Don’t believe me? Whistle at him.”
“Huh?” The young man blinked, then instinctively whistled at the middle-aged man.
And then… the man visibly tensed, his legs trembling slightly.
The next moment, he hurriedly got up and rushed toward the restroom.
His well-made-up companion grabbed her bag, shot Lu Zheng a fierce glare, and quickly followed.
Everyone: “…”
The young man was stunned. “No way, it’s real?”
His friends roared with laughter, some playfully smacking him. His girlfriend collapsed into his arms, laughing hysterically.
Lin Wan was also in stitches, then whispered to Lu Zheng, “Your doing, wasn’t it?”
“Wrongly accused! I’m several metres away from him, how could I?” Lu Zheng put on an exaggerated look of injustice. “We’re in a law-abiding society now, you need evidence to make claims!”
Lin Wan knew he was teasing her and reached over to pinch his side lightly.
…
The incident was just a small interlude, but until boarding was announced, Lu Zheng didn’t see the two return.
Ticket check, boarding, seat selection.
“It’s my first time in business class, so comfy!” Lin Wan found her seat and reclined comfortably.
Lu Zheng sat beside her. “Get some good sleep, we’ll be there by morning.”
Lin Wan felt a bit reluctant. “The trip’s pretty quick, economy would’ve been fine.”
“Money’s earned to make life comfortable. Let money be our servant, not the other way around,” Lu Zheng lectured her earnestly. “Besides, as long as you’re comfy, what’s a bit more money?”
Several flight attendants glanced at Lu Zheng, their eyes twinkling.
Lin Wan shot him a look, then smiled and patted his arm, picking up a magazine from beside the seat to hide a touch of embarrassment and quiet delight.
…
Takeoff, covering a thousand miles in a day.
The next morning, Lin Wan stretched lazily, pulling off the blanket. “So comfy, not tired at all! Business class is something else!”
…
Stepping out of the airport, blue skies, white clouds, sunshine, and green trees greeted them, the tropical vibe washing over them.
“Wow!” Lin Wan took off the oversized sunglasses hanging at her chest and put them on. “The sun’s amazing!”
“Wow!” Meanwhile, Lu Zheng’s gaze swept over the people around the airport—tank tops, shorts, long legs…
“Had enough staring?” Lin Wan waved a hand in front of his face, unimpressed.
“All done, and I made a comparison,” Lu Zheng turned back, saying honestly, “Compared to you, they’re nowhere close.”
Lin Wan wore a fitted black sleeveless top paired with a khaki pleated mini-skirt, accentuating her graceful curves while revealing a sliver of fair waistline. Her long, straight legs were complemented by white high-top sneakers. Standing beside Lu Zheng, she held her own effortlessly.
No lie, with oversized sunglasses perched on her head, thick hair cascading down, a refined nose, and lightly curved red lips, Lin Wan was a striking sight, drawing eyes from a dozen metres around.
“Naturally!” Lin Wan, always confident in her figure and looks, had recently practiced the “Eighteen Mountain-Bearing Forms,” eliminating any trace of excess fat.
She could even pull off Black Widow’s high-difficulty moves with ease.
“Phew, it’s getting hot,” Lin Wan fanned herself with her hand, hiding a slight blush, feeling something was increasingly off. “Call a cab, let’s get to the hotel.”
Lu Zheng hailed a taxi.
“Hello! Welcome to Singapore,” the driver, a middle-aged man, said in fluent English. “Where are you two headed?”
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan slid into the back seat. “Marina Bay Sands, thanks!”
“Alright, sit tight!”
…
The taxi soon left the airport, hitting East Coast Parkway. On the right were modern shops and buildings, while on the left stretched a narrow coastal park, beyond which lay the endless blue sea.
Lin Wan, seated on the left, enjoyed the view of Singapore’s East Coast Park through the window.
Soon…
“The Ferris wheel!” Lin Wan exclaimed. “It’s huge!”
“The Singapore Flyer, taller than the London Eye. A full rotation takes thirty minutes, and you’ll see pretty much all of Singapore,” Lu Zheng explained.
“Nice research, let’s ride it later!” Lin Wan said with a grin.
…
After crossing two bridges, they arrived at Marina Bay Sands.
Paying the fare and stepping out, Lu Zheng glanced at Gardens by the Bay across the street before focusing on the hotel.
Truly one of the world’s most distinctive hotels, three towers propped up a massive ship-like structure. From below, the bow seemed to float precariously in mid-air, almost daunting.
“Man, it’s huge!”
Marina Bay Sands wasn’t just a hotel but a sprawling commercial complex, encompassing a hotel, shopping mall, entertainment city, casino, theatre, cinema, business centre, and even an art gallery and museum.
To explore every corner, ten days wouldn’t be enough.
“Hello, do you have a room reservation?” the receptionist asked politely as they approached the front desk.
“Yes,” Lu Zheng nodded, pulling out his phone and opening the Marina Bay Sands app to show the booking details. “One Marina Suite.”
“Very well,” the receptionist’s smile widened. “May I have your passports, please?”
Moments later…
A dedicated butler led them to a suite on the 52nd floor.
“Whoa—”
Lin Wan gasped, gripping Lu Zheng’s hand. “You booked such a luxurious suite?”
One bedroom, one living room, a private gym, and a massive bathroom with a jacuzzi. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows stretched an endless view of blue sea and sky.
“How much is this per night?”
As Lin Wan asked, the butler handed over a hotel brochure and a booklet detailing the privileges and perks for suite guests.
