Crossgate Seal Chapter 272

Lin Wan knew that Lu Zheng had deceived her more than once or twice.

When Lin Wan cultivated her martial arts blood qi and tested it initially, she realised that although this qi was powerful, its nature was closer to the internal force described in martial arts novels.

Well, perhaps even stronger, it greatly enhanced energy and stamina, but it had little effect on learning ability or tracking people by sensing qi.

Thinking about how Lu Zheng had reconnected her meridians, searched for kidnapped children, and given her spirit mushroom wine to aid her cultivation, these seemed more like techniques from immortal hero novels.

Combined with Lu Zheng’s occasional disappearances and the matter with Liu Yifan, Lin Wan never said anything aloud, but she had already formed a faint guess in her heart.

The world is vast, full of wonders…

There’s no smoke without fire…

So when Lu Zheng revealed his flying sword, Lin Wan was surprised but quickly accepted it, as there had been plenty of foreshadowing.

The one who couldn’t accept it was Tony.

Staring at the red flying sword hovering before him, feeling the sharp sword qi emanating from it, Tony felt his entire worldview collapse.

“Demon!”

“Wizard!”

Four bodyguards, their submachine guns severed, reacted. Two turned to flee, while the other two reached for their waists.

“Courting death,” Lu Zheng said calmly, and the red jade sword hovering at Tony’s brow turned into a streak of red light.

“Swish! Swish!”

“Gurgle… gurgle… ugh…”

Two bodyguards clutched their throats, collapsing slowly, blood spurting like a fountain through their fingers.

At the same time…

“Bang!”

A loud noise echoed as Lu Zheng used a transportation technique to slam the door behind them shut.

“Open the door! Open the door!”

“Let me out, let me out!”

Two grown men crowded together, futilely twisting the lock, their eyes vacant, lips trembling with murmurs, on the verge of tears.

“Silence,” Lu Zheng said calmly.

Though he spoke in Chinese, the bodyguards, some writhing in pain on the floor, others struggling with the lock, all fell silent.

Turning back, they looked at Lu Zheng with a mix of shock and fear, their gazes also fixed on the red jade sword hovering again at Tony’s brow.

The sword’s body, like red jade, gleamed with a soft, lustrous sheen. Despite having just killed two people, it bore not a trace of blood.

“…Lu… Lu…”

Tony’s face was ashen, his body trembling uncontrollably.

Lu Zheng, looking calm, pulled Lin Wan back to her seat, then picked up a wine glass, one for each of them, clinking them lightly.

Taking a small sip, mimicking Tony’s earlier gentlemanly flair, Lu Zheng turned to Tony, smiling politely, “You were saying?”

“I… I’m… sorry…”

Tony struggled to spit out a few words, trying to control his trembling voice.

“I… I apologise sincerely for my ignorance.”

The sword qi of the red jade sword flickered, lightly piercing Tony’s brow, a trickle of blood running down the side of his nose, past his lips, letting him taste a salty, metallic tang.

But Tony didn’t dare wipe it away.

“Whatever… whatever you demand, I’ll agree to it all unconditionally.”

At this, Tony gained a bit of confidence, “I, I have money, I’m willing to buy my life with money!”

Lu Zheng blinked, looking at him as if he were an idiot.

Tony wanted to slap himself.

Given the supernatural abilities Lu Zheng displayed, money was likely the least valuable thing to him.

“I swear in the name of the Father, I’m willing to be your most loyal servant, and Munshang Group will be yours from now on!”

Tony, decisive, bet everything.

Lu Zheng remained silent.

Tony’s face paled further, “What… what else do you require? Anything I can do, I’ll follow your orders unconditionally!”

Lu Zheng said nothing, only turning to look at Lin Wan.

Lin Wan understood his gaze, a flicker of hesitation in her heart, but she nodded.

Lu Zheng smiled with relief, holding Lin Wan’s hand, saying softly, “Thank you.”

“No,” Lin Wan shook her head, “I should be thanking you.”

Having convinced Lin Wan, Lu Zheng turned to Tony, saying softly, “Finished?”

“Fin… finished?”

“You thought I didn’t kill you immediately because you’re still useful?”

Tony’s pupils shrank.

He had already planned to imprison Lin Wan and kill Lu Zheng. With Lu Zheng’s strength, even displaying supernatural powers, killing him would be effortless, wouldn’t it?

So after his initial panic, Tony had calmed down, especially after Lu Zheng killed two of his bodyguards, convincing him that Lu Zheng was intimidating him, aiming to make him a tool.

So Tony put on a terrified, helpless act, letting Lu Zheng vent while showing his submission.

Tony thought his life was surely safe.

First, he’d serve Lu Zheng like a dog. If he pleased him, he might even gain something valuable, perhaps even use him to eliminate Munshang Group’s rivals or assassinate shady competitors.

Once he learned more about Lu Zheng…

No matter how powerful supernatural forces were, the body was still mortal. A trap and a large quantity of TNT could solve everything.

Tony deeply hid his thoughts and the killing intent in his eyes.

“What… what else do you require? Anything I can do, I’ll follow your orders unconditionally!”

After saying this, Tony looked at Lu Zheng expectantly, waiting for him to show off his power and accept him as a servant.

But…

“You thought I didn’t kill you immediately because you’re still useful?”

When Lu Zheng said this, Tony suddenly realised there was another possibility.

Seeing the unconcealed fear in Tony’s eyes, Lu Zheng nodded approvingly, “Yes, you guessed right. I didn’t kill you just to let you experience more despair.

But you should be grateful. I won’t let you despair for too long. The last person who offended me, I tortured for months.”

Lin Wan pursed her lips, thinking, as expected…

The next moment, the red jade sword flashed, turning into a streak of red light, circling the room, and ten more bodies lay dead in the restaurant.

“Freeze!”

“Yang gathers yin! Melt gold, soften bones!”

“Aaahhh!”

Feeling his body alternate between hot and cold, hard and soft, aching, numb, painful, and itchy, yet unable to move, Tony couldn’t hold back his fear and began screaming.

But Lu Zheng ignored him, placing several sinister curse seals on Tony before turning to Lin Wan, “Will you wait here, or come with me?”

Lin Wan bit her lip, “Do we really have to kill them all? Even the waiters?”

“Think about the slaves in the castle’s basement. They’re all murderers,” Lu Zheng said calmly. “And think about how they’ve looked at us these past few days. Do you still think they don’t deserve death?”

Lin Wan steeled herself, gritting her teeth, “I’ll go with you!”
