Crossgate Seal Chapter 273

Lu Zheng didn’t intend for Lin Wan to take action.

However, Lin Wan didn’t just stand by and watch. When Tony’s security team opened fire on them, she exploded into action.

Her figure moved like lightning, flashing to the side of an armed bodyguard. A single punch to his temple sent him to meet the God of this world, if such a being existed.

On this private island, aside from Tony’s eight bodyguards, there was also a private security team of over thirty men, equipped with various light weapons. The four with submachine guns earlier were part of this team.

When Lu Zheng began cutting down everyone in the castle, the security team received the alert and came charging in, fully armed.

Then…

Lin Wan discovered her speed allowed her to dodge less dense gunfire. With obstacles around, wiping out a team of armed men was as easy as eating or drinking.

At their speed, it took just ten minutes to circle the island. The nearly hundred-strong service staff were completely slaughtered by the pair.

The last one, the old butler Anthony, was preparing to escape by boat at the dock when Lu Zheng’s mental attack shattered his soul, sending him plunging into the sea.

“Ugh!” Lin Wan retched slightly.

Lu Zheng gently patted her back, his tone light. “What, pregnant already?”

“Get lost!” Lin Wan turned, glaring at him with a mix of anger and complex emotions. “You really don’t feel anything at all?”

Lu Zheng shrugged, changing the subject. “I found something in the control room. Want to take a look?”

Lin Wan’s spirits lifted. “The underground palace?”

Lu Zheng nodded. “Exactly.”

“Let’s go check it out!”

They arrived at the control room together and found that, besides monitoring key locations on the island, some screens showed the living conditions of several women.

To their surprise, there weren’t just seven or eight women as expected, but over a dozen.

Besides Tony’s exclusive slaves, there were also women for the island’s security and service staff to vent on.

Some of the images on the screens made Lin Wan’s eyes redden with rage.

“Feeling less guilty now?”

Lin Wan gritted her teeth, her voice seething. “They all deserve to die!”

Jessica had already given up hope.

She lay numbly on the bed, her naked body marked with unhealed bruises and whip marks, her eyes lifeless, staring at the dim yellow light above, recalling her happy life before being trafficked.

“Why hasn’t anyone come today?”

She suddenly felt puzzled. Normally, by this time, off-duty service staff would come to “enjoy” themselves.

“Click!”

A soft sound, and Jessica noticed the electronic lock on her door had been opened.

“What’s going on? Is the door broken?” Her eyes flickered with uncertainty. She reached out, tried it, and sure enough, the door opened.

No one?

Jessica poked her head out, exchanging glances with another woman.

Escape?

The thought flashed through her mind instantly, but… this was supposedly an isolated island, crawling with Tony’s men. How could they escape? If they failed…

Jessica didn’t dare imagine the consequences of a failed escape.

“The control system must be down. Someone will probably come soon,” one woman said.

A few others nodded. Two even shrank back into their rooms, fearing whoever came next might get suspicious or angry.

“Your doors are open too?” Several refined-looking women cautiously emerged from deeper within, their suite doors also unlocked. “What’s happening?”

“Zzt—bzz—”

A sharp burst of static, and the underground palace’s intercom system activated.

“Found it, there really is something,” an unfamiliar voice came through, quickly switching to English. “Ahem, hello, good news: you’re free.”

The dozen women exchanged bewildered looks.

“Please put on your clothes, gather your belongings, and head out. There’s a yacht at the eastern dock. You can take it and go home,” the voice continued, now a woman’s, speaking fluent English.

Watching the dozen women scream their way to the dock after encountering several corpses, then board the yacht and leave, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan moved on to the next steps.

As a computer science expert with upgraded skills, Lu Zheng erased all evidence of their presence on the island, then scattered explosives, gasoline, and more around the castle and estate.

This naturally included Tony’s bedroom.

In his safe, they found some items: cash, jewellery, luxury watches, and… evidence of his crimes.

“Scum! He deserved it!”

Lin Wan’s eyes narrowed as she saw ledgers linking Tony to a slavery ring and an organ trafficking network.

“All that glitz on the surface, just hiding pure filth. Don’t take it to heart,” Lu Zheng said, calming her down.

Lin Wan shot him a sidelong glance, sighing. “I’d only heard about this stuff before, never seen it with my own eyes.”

“Alright, we’re about done here. Let’s go,” Lu Zheng said, noticing Lin Wan collecting the ledgers.

“What are you planning?” he asked.

“Send them to the Italian government,” Lin Wan replied.

Lu Zheng blinked but said nothing.

One spark, one island.

Towering flames and thick smoke engulfed the island as Lu Zheng and Lin Wan sped away on a speedboat.

As for Tony?

He was incinerated along with his private castle.

Before lighting the fire, Lu Zheng personally went to the dining room. He didn’t place explosives there, just poured a ring of gasoline around the room, then doused Tony with the remaining half bucket.

Lu Zheng had never seen so many expressions in one person’s eyes.

“Tony, congratulations, your acting skills have reached new heights!”

Tossing the empty gasoline canister aside, Lu Zheng walked lightly to the dining room door, giving Tony one last courteous bow.

Three hours later, on a deserted beach, Lu Zheng sank the speedboat far out at sea, letting it disappear into the depths. Then, with Lin Wan, he slipped quietly into Rome.

They checked into a hotel, dropped off their luggage, and strolled hand in hand down a commercial street as if nothing had happened.

“The news is out! That was quick!” Lin Wan gestured to Lu Zheng.

He followed her gaze to a TV broadcasting live footage of a burning island.

“The perspective is from a helicopter. Looks like they reacted fast.”

On the screen, police boats had surrounded the island, with several fireboats drawing water from the sea to fight the blaze.

Of course, they couldn’t understand the Italian commentary on the TV.

A moment later, the screen flashed to images of the women who had escaped Tony’s island, now taken away by the Rome police.

As they reached shore and were led off by officers, they shouted their story to the gathered reporters and cameras. The footage was being replayed endlessly on the news.

The broadcast showed not only the live feed of the island and the women but also various photos of Tony.

Tycoon, criminal, victims, “unknown heroes”—it was all too sensational. Every channel was looping the story.

So, the two found a suitable spot in a restaurant with a TV, ordered two portions of seafood fried rice and drinks, and chatted while watching.

Lu Zheng took a spoonful of rice. “Where are you sending those documents?”

Lin Wan sipped her juice. “The Rome police, obviously. Where else, our country’s embassy?”

Lu Zheng glanced at the TV. “They’ll be busy tonight. No need to wait until tomorrow. Let’s deliver them tonight.”
