Crossgate Seal Chapter 274

What was meant to be a pleasant National Day overseas trip turned into a journey of slaughter.

Not only had Lin Wan not anticipated this, but even Lu Zheng hadn’t seen it coming.

He had wanted to enjoy modern life, yet he never expected a sudden killing spree in the modern world, where he ended up killing more people than he had in ancient times…

There was no other way. Tony was someone Lu Zheng absolutely had to kill, but he didn’t want to expose himself or get entangled in Italy’s legal processes.

So he cut through the mess with a swift blade.

Kill everyone, clean up the loose ends, and no one would know it was him, right?

But there were benefits too. Lin Wan’s mindset had grown a step closer to his.

In the dead of night, Lu Zheng silently placed the evidence on the desk of the Rome police chief. The next morning, he and Lin Wan boarded a tourist train to the small city of Pisa, continuing their journey.

They visited the Leaning Tower of Pisa, attended an international fashion show, and watched the Milan Derby.

The rest of the trip went smoothly, with no further incidents.

“Thank goodness, everything went well after that,” Lin Wan said.

“One incident was enough. My heart couldn’t take another!” she complained.

“Is that so?” Lu Zheng rubbed his chin. “You seemed pretty excited when you made your move.”

Lin Wan’s face flushed, a mix of embarrassment and annoyance. “That was self-defence!”

“Oh, absolutely, absolutely!” Lu Zheng nodded repeatedly.

Lin Wan wasn’t lying. The other side had fired at them. If that didn’t count as self-defence, then the concept didn’t exist.

They were now on a flight back to Haicheng, seated in business class, side by side near the window.

It was the early hours of the morning, and everyone else was asleep. Lu Zheng and Lin Wan were whispering to each other.

“Do you have some kind of protagonist aura?” Lin Wan whispered. “I met you because of a car accident, then there was a murder case, followed by a hotel poisoning and a body-dumping case.

We’ve gone abroad twice. The first time, we encountered a helicopter crashing into the sea. This time was even more outrageous, completely shattering my worldview.”

Lin Wan gave a playful smile. “Is it because of, well, your secret that you’ve passively activated this protagonist aura?”

Lu Zheng: ╭(°A°`)╮

Looks like you haven’t read enough novels. These days, it’s more common to be targeted by the world’s consciousness!

Besides, I’m just an ordinary guy born and raised in China on Earth. I don’t even have the ability to gain the light of fortune in the modern world, so where’s this protagonist aura coming from?

Lu Zheng smirked. “And you call yourself a police officer? Your logic’s all over the place. You haven’t even figured out who triggered the events.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“You were the one who took me to KASAMUVA restaurant. You were the one who asked me to play the piano. The reason Tony made his move this time…”

“So it’s my fault?” Lin Wan’s jaw dropped, her voice rising an octave.

“My bad, my bad,” Lu Zheng quickly soothed her, his hand tracing a gentle curve.

Lin Wan gritted her teeth, unable to help but shoot him a glare.

At Haicheng Airport, the plane taxied to the runway, and the announcement instructed passengers to disembark.

Lu Zheng and Lin Wan were in no rush. They waited until most passengers had left before gathering their belongings and preparing to leave the plane.

A middle-aged man in black seated behind them did the same, standing up and giving them a polite smile.

At the same time, another middle-aged man in blue also stood, following the queue of disembarking passengers, inching closer to the front of the plane.

“Hm?” Lu Zheng sniffed, his eyes flickering.

“Huh?” Lin Wan’s brow furrowed.

The next moment, the man in blue approached the man in black.

Just as he was about to place his hand on the man in black’s neck, Lin Wan grabbed his wrist.

“What are you doing!”

With a sharp shout, Lin Wan twisted his wrist, revealing his palm.

On the inner side of the ring on his left middle finger, a three-millimetre needle tip protruded.

The needle gleamed faintly, exuding a subtle scent.

“Assassin?” Lin Wan’s pupils contracted.

The assassin had approached the man in black behind them, and the highly toxic substance on the needle, slightly volatile, had been detected by their keen senses, alerting them to something amiss.

“Assassin!” The man in black was startled, swinging a fist at the man in blue.

The man in blue dodged the punch but couldn’t break free from Lin Wan’s grip.

With a fierce glint in his eyes, he aimed a kick at Lin Wan.

“Hmph!”

Lin Wan snorted, her hand giving a slight shake.

Her blood qi surged into his body, instantly dispersing his strength. The man in blue’s kick faltered halfway, and he collapsed limply to the ground.

“What?” The man in blue looked at Lin Wan, his eyes filled with shock.

The man in black was also startled. He hadn’t even landed his punch, yet the man had collapsed?

Thinking the man in blue might be feigning, the man in black took a cautious step back, eyeing him warily.

“It’s fine, don’t worry,” Lin Wan reassured him. “I’ve subdued him.”

“I’m a police officer,” Lin Wan added, closely observing the man in black’s reaction.

“Subdued?” The man in black blinked. You just shook your hand, and that subdued him?

Lin Wan nodded, noting that his eyes showed only surprise, not fear.

Only then did the commotion catch the attention of the crew and passengers.

Hearing that Lin Wan was a police officer and had subdued the culprit, everyone’s initial alarm quickly subsided. The crew continued to organise the disembarkation, and the captain approached to inquire about the situation.

Lin Wan explained what had happened, instructing the captain to notify the airport police directly.

After hearing the details, the captain immediately looked at the man in black. This was the target of an assassin, so he couldn’t be an ordinary person, could he?

The man in black nodded, not hiding anything. “I’m also a police officer, with the operations team of Interpol’s China branch. As for the specific case I’m working on, I’m afraid I can’t disclose that.”

Interpol?

Operations team?

Lu Zheng and Lin Wan exchanged a glance. They hadn’t expected this to involve an international case.

“Of course, of course!” The captain nodded repeatedly, expressing understanding.

The man in black looked at the man in blue, still collapsed on the floor, then turned to Lin Wan with a look of disbelief. “Impressive skills, comrade! How did you do that?”

“Traditional martial arts. I channelled my force into his body, disrupting his strength,” Lin Wan said calmly, exuding the air of a confident expert.

The man in black: ⊙_⊙

Don’t fool me just because I’m not well-read. Traditional martial arts can do that? Do you think I haven’t seen military experts before?

After handing the assassin over to the airport police, the man in black naturally stayed to assist with the investigation. Since Lu Zheng and Lin Wan had only acted in the name of justice, they gave their statements and left.
