“Hahaha! I won!”
At the top of a slope, Lin Wan lifted her goggles and excitedly waved at Lu Zheng.
Lu Zheng approached, braking in a pigeon-toed stop, then planted his ski poles in the snow.
“Not bad! So fast!”
“Hehe!”
Though she knew Lu Zheng had let her win, Lin Wan was still delighted. “Again!”
“Let’s go!”
…
“Not gonna lie, skiing is really fun. I think it’s more enjoyable than driving,” Lin Wan laughed.
Racing cars, motorcycles, skiing—all gave that thrilling sense of speed. Experiencing skiing for the first time, Lin Wan loved it.
“Hey! Hello again!”
Lu Zheng turned to see two figures skiing over. They stopped nearby and lifted their goggles—Robert and Nancy.
“Hahaha, you two modestly called yourselves beginners. Beginners don’t come here,” Robert laughed.
Lu Zheng smiled faintly. “Good luck. Skiing wasn’t as hard as imagined. We picked it up quickly.”
“You joke well,” Robert smiled. “As the Chinese say, meeting is fate. May I ask your names?”
Lu Zheng blinked, nodded. “I’m Lu Zheng! This is my girlfriend, Lin Wan.”
“Lu! Lin! Hello!” Robert pointed to a nearby slope. “Shall we go together?”
Lu Zheng’s lips curved. He exchanged a glance with Lin Wan. “Sure!”
“Let’s go.”
“Whoosh!”
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan shared a smile, then unleashed their true skills. In a short stretch, they left Robert and Nancy behind. Further on, the pair vanished completely.
“Hahaha!” Lu Zheng laughed heartily.
Lin Wan couldn’t help giggling. “Was that a bit rude?”
“Pfft! An elite second-gen rich kid and a fame-seeking model. What common topics could we have? Not shutting them out completely already shows great restraint.”
Lin Wan laughed secretly, saying no more. Then, like two woodland spirits, they darted freely through the snowy mountains and forests, having a blast.
…
“So fun! No wonder people love skiing,” Lin Wan laughed. “Continue tomorrow!”
Lu Zheng nodded naturally. “We’ll stay in Interlaken these days. Ski daily.”
They had returned gear and were at Jungfraujoch station waiting for the train.
“Lu! Lin!”
Persistent Robert approached again, beaming. “You two are amazing! Professional skiers?”
Well, only one station at Jungfraujoch. Reasonable encounter.
Lu Zheng shook his head. “Of course not.”
Boarding, their package tickets placed seats together.
“Tonight at Kursaal Theatre, a Bern Miracle performance. Interested?” Robert asked.
“We saw posters yesterday?” Lu Zheng asked Lin Wan.
She nodded. “Seems a famous Bern troupe.”
“Then let’s go.” Lu Zheng nodded. Out to play, after all.
“Great! Together?”
Lu Zheng waved. “Won’t disturb your couple time. We’ll go ourselves.”
Unfazed by rejection, Robert nodded helplessly, changing topics. “What do you do, Mr Lu?”
Pausing, “Bao Yi Group has business in China. Any collaboration opportunities?”
Lu Zheng’s lips twitched. “No job. Just a idle second-gen living off inheritance.”
Lin Wan pressed her lips, nearly laughing aloud.
Robert was elite second-gen. Whatever profession or business Lu Zheng named, he could likely converse. But claiming uselessness—how to respond?
Robert could!
“Excellent! Wealth and leisure mean time and energy for passions!”
He thumbs up. “Ordinary people could never ski like you!”
Lu Zheng: “…”
Lin Wan: “…”
“Other hobbies, Lu? Racing? Horsemanship?” Robert asked. “I have a stable in England. Interested?”
“Thanks, no!” Lu Zheng shook head.
Riding? He had ridden horses for over a month recently. Not again soon.
“Racing then?”
Eyes eager, “Day after tomorrow, Monaco F1 Grand Prix. I’m attending live. Join?”
Lu Zheng shook again. “No interest.”
Nancy’s eyes turned. Coquettishly to Lin Wan, “Monaco has recent Gucci and Chanel releases. Lin, not checking? With your figure and aura, you’d look stunning.”
Lin Wan smiled. Before shaking head, Lu Zheng stroked chin. “This works.”
Lin Wan speechless. “When would I wear them?”
Lu Zheng righteous. “No uniform at work. Everyone knows you have a rich husband. Wearing nice clothes is natural.
Tomorrow and day after, ski two more days. Then Monaco day after, return 7th.”
“Fine, you decide,” Lin Wan laughed.
Lu Zheng snapped fingers. “OK, settled.”
Agreed on Monaco, Robert’s eyes smiled. No more joint dinner or show invites. Just casual chat with Lu Zheng.
Disembark, farewell.
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan bought performance tickets first, then dined.
…
“Nothing to gain from excessive flattery—either crook or thief. Robert definitely has ulterior motives,” Lin Wan said.
Train coincidence and youthful chat normal. But return invites for show and Monaco—overly enthusiastic.
Despite their coolness, Robert’s warmth mismatched elite second-gen persona.
“Whatever his aim, we play our way,” Lu Zheng laughed. “If he makes a move, we’re not afraid.”
Lin Wan helplessly smiled. “Afraid you’ll pull another Tony stunt.”
Lu Zheng brow arched. “Seems you have a bad premonition.”
“Then why agree to Monaco?”
“Going because I want to. See racing, buy you clothes. What does it have to do with him?”
Lu Zheng laughed. “Can’t avoid places we want just because he might scheme. Then what’s the point of our cultivation?”
“True, but isn’t this entrapment…” Lin Wan shook head. “Fine, go. Hope he knows better.”
Truthfully, Lin Wan wanted to go too.
Beauty appreciation universal. No money shortage now—buying big brands fine. Money from foreigners anyway?
Plus home clothes wore out fast. Needed replenishing.
…
Next two days, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan skied Jungfraujoch. Robert and Nancy came daily, “coincidentally” meeting several times. Brief chats, then separate.
Convenient route, Robert invited joint travel. Lu Zheng didn’t refuse.
October 5 afternoon, group from Interlaken to Bern, flight to Monaco.
Airport exit, Robert pointed to stretched Bentley. “Which hotel? I’ll drop you.”
“Monte Carlo Metropolis Hotel.”
“Coincidence! Us too!” Robert winked at Lu Zheng.
Lu Zheng shivered, nearly misunderstanding Robert’s intent.
…
Hotel arrival, joint dinner, farewells, separate.
Ignoring Robert and Nancy, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan shopped, swam, bar-sat. Gathered enough daily Moments photos, then room to sleep.
