Lu Zheng and Lin Wan walked out hand in hand. They had only gone a short distance to the roadside when two men approached from behind, pressing cold gun barrels against Lu Zheng’s lower back.
“Do not speak. Get in the car!” A cold voice came from behind, and a black Mercedes van had already pulled up beside them.
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan exchanged a glance, then obediently got into the vehicle without a word.
Handcuffs were put on, hoods were placed over their heads. Everything was carried out with considerable professionalism.
“Who are you? Is there some mistake? We are just tourists from China. I want a lawyer…”
“Do not speak, or we will shoot you both dead!” A vicious voice rang out, “scaring” Lu Zheng and Lin Wan into nodding repeatedly.
The men in the car exchanged looks and could not help revealing a trace of contemptuous smiles.
“Chinese people are always such cowards!”
…
The vehicle drove for an hour before entering an abandoned warehouse somewhere in France.
It stopped. They were dragged out, then taken into a room and forced to sit on chairs.
“Remove their hoods.”
When the hoods were taken off Lu Zheng and Lin Wan, they saw the middle-aged man who had previously lost a hundred million to Lu Zheng standing in front of them.
“It’s you?” Lu Zheng said, feigning shock.
Lin Wan glanced back at Lu Zheng. That shocked expression was far too fake.
Moreover…
Lin Wan looked up and glanced at the burly man standing behind the middle-aged man, the one who had pointed a gun at her waist in Monte Carlo. He was the bodyguard who had stayed close to Robert in Interlaken but never revealed his identity.
“What do you mean by this? Can’t you accept losing? Hurry up and release us!” Lu Zheng shouted.
“Release?” The middle-aged man gave a cold laugh. “You won a hundred million from me, and you think I will just let you go so easily?”
“You!” Lu Zheng put on an appearance of impotent rage. “I… At worst, I will return the hundred million to you!”
“Hahahaha!”
Everyone burst into wild laughter!
The middle-aged man picked up a laptop from nearby and brought it to Lu Zheng’s side.
“You were able to get fifty million in chips directly from the casino, which means you have fifty million in cash,” the middle-aged man said coldly. “Come on, open your account. Let me see exactly how much money you have.”
Lu Zheng stared in stunned silence. “This is kidnapping and extortion!”
“Hahahaha!”
The middle-aged man reached out with a smile and patted Lu Zheng’s face. “You have only just realised?”
“I… I am Robert’s friend. If he discovers I am missing, he will report it to the police!” Lu Zheng said in a last desperate struggle.
“Robert? Haha, yes, Robert is your friend, hahaha.”
Then Lu Zheng saw Robert walk in through the door.
“Robert?”
“Lu, Lin.” Robert still wore that refined and courteous smile. “We meet again.”
“You…” Lu Zheng stared in stunned silence, then seemed to react, saying in shock, “All of this was planned by you?”
Robert smiled faintly. “I did not originally want things to turn out this way. I also did not expect your luck to truly be so good, that Starr would actually miscalculate a single card.”
“You two are in it together!”
“Correct, but unfortunately that is of no use!” Robert snapped his fingers and looked at Lin Wan with some regret. “It is such a pity. If your boyfriend’s luck had been just a little worse, I could have obtained you by more suitable means.”
Lin Wan looked coldly at Robert, as if looking at a dead man.
Made very uncomfortable by Lin Wan’s gaze, Robert’s expression also turned cold.
“What are you staring at? In my entire life, no one has ever ignored me like this, yet you two managed it in Interlaken,” Robert said viciously.
“Then what do you want?” Lu Zheng swallowed, asking in a fierce but timid manner.
“What do I want? Heh heh!” Robert gave a cold laugh. “Return my money, then pay another two hundred million as compensation for my losses!”
“And then you will let us go?” Lu Zheng asked expectantly.
“Of course!” Robert’s smile appeared very elegant. “Though you may leave, your girlfriend will have to stay behind.”
“No way!” Lu Zheng shouted. “Lin Wan and I must leave together. Only when we reach the airport will I transfer the money to you!”
The middle-aged man pulled out a pistol and pressed it directly against Lu Zheng’s temple. “Do you take us for fools?”
Lu Zheng shook his head. “But what if you do not keep your word?”
“You have no choice,” Robert said with a chuckle. “From the moment you accepted my invitation to come to Monaco, today’s outcome was already determined.”
…
The room fell silent for a few seconds.
“No, that is not right,” Lu Zheng shook his head, his expression turning serious.
“What is not right?” Robert turned back and saw that Lu Zheng had already regained his calm.
“What do you want to say?”
“I want to say that from the moment you offered to invite me to Monaco, today’s outcome was actually already determined,” Lu Zheng said calmly.
“Hm?” Robert did not understand. “What is the difference?”
“The difference is that when I accepted your invitation, you thought I had stepped into your trap. But when you extended the invitation, I was waiting for you to set the trap yourself,” Lu Zheng explained to him earnestly.
Robert still did not understand, but that did not matter. What mattered was…
“It seems that unless we show you some pain, you think we are only trying to scare you?”
Robert gave the middle-aged man a signal. The man immediately swung his gun around and pulled the trigger towards Lu Zheng’s thigh.
“Bang!”
A gunshot rang out. Everyone looked at Lu Zheng’s thigh, but…
“Alright, I cannot keep pretending anymore,” Lu Zheng shrugged.
Lin Wan smiled faintly beside him. “You really have a wicked sense of humour. You have been holding it in for quite a while, haven’t you?”
“Yes, my parents gave me life, but Lin Wan truly understands me,” Lu Zheng nodded.
Lin Wan showed understanding. “Hiding one’s identity among ordinary people and constantly suppressing it can indeed cause all sorts of discomfort. One does need to release it from time to time.”
“So, Robert, you really are a good person!” Lu Zheng looked up and smiled.
“What? What do you mean?”
Robert stared in stunned silence, while the other gunmen in the room sensed danger and all drew their pistols, pointing them at the pair.
Lu Zheng revealed a ferocious grin. “The entire estate has already been trapped by my cloud technique.”
Lin Wan’s eyes focused. With a tug of her hands, the handcuffs snapped apart.
“Open fire!”
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Lin Wan turned into an afterimage, moving so fast that her true position could no longer be seen. She charged straight into the group of bodyguards, followed by a series of agonised screams.
The middle-aged man stared in stunned silence, still deciding whether to shoot or flee, when he discovered a large hand had already clamped onto his pistol.
“Crack!”
A USP pistol was actually crushed and deformed.
The middle-aged man instinctively looked up. The last thing he saw was a palm slapping towards his forehead.
The next scene concerning him was seen only by Robert, who watched as the man’s head was slapped into his chest cavity by Lu Zheng’s palm.
Robert’s pupils contracted to the size of pinpricks. His heart stopped.
“You… you are not human!”
No human could possibly possess Lu Zheng’s strength, nor Lin Wan’s speed.
Robert finally understood what Lu Zheng had meant earlier. He finally regretted it. He had never imagined that such people truly existed in the world.
There really were superhumans! And he had kidnapped them!
In the next moment, the gunfire in the room ceased. Lin Wan quietly appeared beside Robert.
“Now do you understand?”
