A massive explosion rang out, shaking the mahjong table violently.
“Where did that blast come from!?”
“What is happening!?”
The girls paled in terror, and the four men’s faces changed dramatically.
“Chato!” Ding Lunyin shouted, and a dark-skinned man immediately opened the door and entered.
“What is going on?” Ding Lunyin asked.
“I am finding out!” Chato held a walkie-talkie, from which came the “rat-tat-tat” of gunfire and frantic shouts.
“Enemy attack! Enemy attack!”
“Bloody hell!” The burly man flipped the mahjong table over. “Is it Biang or Pai Dachang? They dare assault this place? They are courting death!”
The middle-aged man gave a cold smile and drew his pistol. “Bad timing for them. Our guard team has just arrived. Tadan, alert the guard team to enter the manor and wipe out every intruder!”
“Got it!” The burly man shouted, grabbed his phone from the table, and dialled.
“Boom! Boom!”
“Rat-tat-tat! Rat-tat-tat!”
While dialling, the burly man said with some shock, “How many did they bring? If there are too many, how did they get past all the checkpoints?”
“No matter,” the old man said calmly. “They only have a few tricks. Pushing this deep, how much ammunition can they have left? Hold them for ten minutes and they are finished.”
“Yes, yes!” Ding Lunyin nodded repeatedly. Though he had killed countless people, he had never been on a real battlefield, so this sudden assault frightened him. But the old man’s words steadied him.
The old man had survived countless battles, large and small. Among the warlords of northern Myanmar, he was a respected veteran. He lacked spectacular victories, but those who had surpassed him were all dead, while he had lived safely into his seventies.
Thinking of this, the old man turned to Ding Lunyin. “Where is your basement? We go in first and hide. We come out after your men and ours have eliminated the enemy.”
Ding Lunyin, “…”
“Right, right! Follow me!” Ding Lunyin nodded hurriedly, then turned to Chato. “Gather all the gunmen. Kill them all. Oh, and leave a few alive. I want to know who sent them!”
“Yes!”
Chato nodded, drew his pistol, and charged out.
“Uncle Duan, Karl Cai, Tadan, this way.”
“Rat-tat-tat!”
“Boom!”
The gunfire and grenade blasts grew closer. The nearest were now less than fifty metres from the main building.
Tadan’s eyes widened. “How are they advancing so fast?”
A glint flashed in the old man’s eyes. “Elite troops. Lunyin, hurry. Hide first!”
Ding Lunyin panicked, heart racing. He rushed out of the card room, the three others close behind, leaving the four trembling women inside.
Soon after Ding Lunyin left, the four beauties huddled in the card room, too terrified to emerge, hoping his gunmen would deal with the attackers.
“Rat-tat-tat… rat-tat… tat…”
The gunfire and explosions outside the villa gradually diminished.
“Bang!”
A huge blast. The villa’s main door had been blown open.
The four women froze in the card room, not daring to move. They saw the stocky Chato backing towards the doorway, firing as he retreated. Just as he reached it, “puff puff puff”, he took three shots and collapsed in a pool of blood.
Then they saw two black-clad figures walk slowly past the doorway. One seemed to glance inside, and the four women buried their heads like quails.
…
“Not bad,” Lu Zheng said, glancing back at the main door. “These ragtag troops put up a decent fight. More guts than old John’s bodyguard team. Took this many deaths before they broke.”
Outside, some gunmen and soldiers were still alive, but none dared step inside the villa.
Lin Wan smiled. “They have seen real war, after all. On a battlefield, they are far tougher than gang thugs.”
The pair had charged straight through the front. No one lasted a single exchange. Anyone who showed their head took a three-round burst, one to the head, two to the chest, sent straight to the afterlife.
Ding Lunyin’s guards could not slow them at all. They threw grenades blindly, even resorted to rocket launchers in desperation. Hmm, rather like old John’s team…
Yes, all the explosions Ding Lunyin and the others had heard were from their own side’s weapons.
Strong resistance only provoked stronger suppression. Show your head and die, make a move and die. Bodies piled along the way until the survivors finally broke and fled, leaving a trail of corpses. By the time Lu Zheng and Lin Wan entered the villa, no one behind dared even cross the threshold.
In Ding Lunyin’s basement, the four men panted, staring at each other.
“Cannot reach Chato,” Ding Lunyin said, voice shaking.
“Cannot reach Keke Tuo either,” Tadan said, looking up in disbelief. Keke Tuo was their guard captain. How could he die so easily?
“Impossible. Who are they?” Karl Cai cried out.
“Rat-tat-tat!”
A burst of gunfire outside the basement door, then silence.
“Bang!”
The next moment, the basement door was kicked open.
“Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang!”
Tadan and Karl Cai raised their pistols and fired at the doorway, riddling two corpses with holes.
“Thud… thud…”
The bodies were tossed aside. Two figures in unidentifiable combat gear stepped in.
“Whose men are you?” Ding Lunyin said at once. “I will pay you ten times as much!”
The old man, at the rear, raised both hands. “I surrender. I can control the Kakun Armed Brigade!”
Karl Cai, “…”
Tadan, “…”
Their only answer was a hail of bullets. Lu Zheng could not even be bothered to reveal his identity so Ding Lunyin would die knowing why.
…
“Bad luck. We even took out the brigade commander of the Kakun Armed Brigade,” Lu Zheng said, looking at the bullet-riddled old man. “Does this count as upsetting the local power balance?”
“No problem. We just take out the leaders of the other factions too,” Lin Wan said coolly. “They are all backers of drug lords, hands soaked in blood. None will die unjustly.”
Lu Zheng could only give a thumbs-up. “You make a compelling case!”
…
They ended up working overtime, becoming mysterious special forces, launching raid after raid, wiping out a whole batch of notorious big shots across northern Myanmar.
The next day, the full lists and evidence of these drug lords’ distribution networks worldwide were anonymously posted on Interpol’s official website.
