Boom! A sound of collapse rang out, and Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji clearly saw the person standing at the door, a man in white clothing. This man held a long sword in his hand, a sword that seemed almost intangible, barely distinguishable from a beam of light, but both Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji knew it was not light.
“It’s this guy who chased me all the way here, he’s got a protective halo around him, completely unbreakable,” Ju Mang said, looking at the man in white, instinctively stepping back a few paces, his tone tinged with fear.
“Xiaobu, have you noticed, this guy’s wearing something almost invisible to the naked eye, yet it’s not made from a magical treasure. And it seems to be some distance from his body, probably high-tech stuff, right?” Mo Wuji remarked.
Lan Xiaobu saw it too, what Mo Wuji referred to was the protective halo around the man, shaped like a human body. When scanned with divine sense, it seemed like a material, yet also like something unique.
Is technology this advanced now? It’s practically made of top-tier rules.
“You with the wings, come out, follow me obediently. Otherwise, none of the people around you will survive,” the man in white said to Ju Mang with a half-smile.
Then he turned to Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji, saying, “Sorry, you two, I’m here to catch a wanted criminal. Since you’re harbouring my fugitive, I had to break into your place.”
His words claimed apology, but his demeanour showed no trace of remorse.
Something’s off, Lan Xiaobu immediately noticed something unusual and said with a grin, “Wuji, did you notice, this guy shattered the restriction in front of us, but not the one behind.”
Mo Wuji laughed heartily, “You noticed too, huh? I don’t know how this guy’s so powerful, whether that thing in his hand is tech or not, he’s still a cultivator.”
The man in white was at the Yan Realm level, a cultivation so weak that Mo Wuji and Lan Xiaobu could crush him effortlessly.
The reason Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji weren’t afraid was because they noticed that, despite his impressive appearance, the man’s so-called Rule-Breaking Sword only shattered restrictions not tied to their own Dao rules.
In other words, Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji had set up three restrictions here. The first was established by Mo Wuji using the Great Cosmos’ universal rules. The second was a defensive restriction built by Lan Xiaobu, also based on the Great Cosmos’ rules. The third was a joint effort, a protective barrier created without relying on any of the Great Cosmos’ rules, formed instead by their own rules: part Mo Wuji’s Mortal Dao and part Lan Xiaobu’s Longevity Dao.
If they had any doubts before, needing time to figure it out, after experiencing Hongjun Daozu’s sudden disappearance from the memories of this universe’s cultivators, they immediately understood, it was all about universal rules.
The Weiju World developed this Rule-Breaking Sword, meaning any cultivator in the Great Cosmos, unless they followed their own Great Dao, would die facing it. All your Dao rhythms, all your Dao rules, cannot surpass the Great Cosmos, and they specifically studied all the existing rules of the Great Cosmos. What’s the point of your Dao in front of them?
Ju Mang hadn’t been killed yet because he was from the Wu Clan, even an Ancestral Wu. His physical body was incredibly strong, and with extremely fast escape techniques, he managed to survive until now.
Mo Wuji suddenly spoke, “No need to apologise to us.”
The man in white laughed, “I, Fang Can, act openly and honestly. Whether you’re a big bug or a small one, my apology is just my way of doing things, I don’t need your advice or your flattery.”
Mo Wuji chuckled and suddenly raised his hand, sending out a blade of light, saying, “I said you don’t need to apologise, because you really don’t.”
“Mo Daoyou, don’t act…” Qi Zhe Tian saw Mo Wuji about to strike and quickly tried to stop him, knowing how terrifying the Weiju World was. They didn’t even need to come here, just a single space cannon could reduce Anluo Heavenly City to rubble.
But clearly, Qi Zhe Tian spoke too late.
Mo Wuji’s blade of rule-based light slashed out, and with a crack, Fang Can’s shield was torn in half.
Besides the shield, Fang Can had protective clothing, but it too was effortlessly ripped apart by Mo Wuji’s blade, as easily as a knife cutting tofu, without the slightest hesitation.
A burst of blood exploded, and Fang Can was split in two by Mo Wuji.
Fang Can’s primordial spirit spilled out, staring at Mo Wuji in shock, “How did you do it?”
He knew better than anyone that his two protective gears couldn’t be easily torn apart, not even by a Dao Ancestor, yet his Rule-Breaking Sword could easily shatter a Dao Ancestor’s domain and body. So why didn’t it work here? This was something the Weiju World’s countless tech fanatics developed to counter so-called saint rules.
“Still so curious,” Mo Wuji said lightly, then raised his hand, tore open Fang Can’s world, and swept away everything inside before saying, “Clearly a cultivator, yet pretending to be some tech guy.”
In the moment his primordial spirit was torn apart, Fang Can finally understood why Mo Wuji said he didn’t need to apologise.
Fang Can’s Rule-Breaking Sword, rule-based shield, and elemental protective clothing could all be considered tech products. But in Mo Wuji’s eyes, they were utter trash.
“Is that it?” Lan Xiaobu looked at the slain Fang Can in surprise, knowing his protective gear was likely tied to the Great Cosmos’ rules.
Both he and Mo Wuji followed their own Great Dao, which the Weiju World hadn’t studied, so Fang Can’s gear was useless against them. But even so, wasn’t Mo Wuji’s kill a bit too easy? Just one blade of rule-based light?
Mo Wuji sighed helplessly, “Really, that’s it.”
“You killed an eight-star cosmic powerhouse from the Weiju World with one blade of Great Dao?” Qi Zhe Tian was stunned, but he quickly realised.
Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji were cultivators of their own Great Dao, which meant they were unaffected by the Weiju World’s technological constraints.
In other words, all of the Weiju World’s technological civilisation was built under the Great Cosmos’ universal rules. As long as you overturned those rules, or your own Great Dao was unbound by them, you could easily crush the entire Weiju World.
Qi Zhe Tian let out a long breath, feeling his choice was brilliant. Once he derived his own Great Dao, he too would have no need to fear the Weiju World.
No wonder the Weiju World, despite its strength, never came out to dominate. They likely knew their limitations and feared a day like this.
Che Zizi, who had just arrived, saw the courtyard outside Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji’s residence destroyed and felt a pang of worry. But since the opponent was from the Weiju World, he didn’t dare speak up.
Just as he feared they’d continue and destroy Jinluo Tower again, he saw this eight-star cosmic powerhouse from the Weiju World killed by Mo Wuji with a single blade of Great Dao.
Che Zizi even doubted his eyes, rubbing them to confirm he wasn’t mistaken.
This meant Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji were completely unafraid of the Weiju World’s tech. This realisation sent chills down Che Zizi’s spine. If Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji used this to control the Weiju World, no other world in the Great Cosmos would have a chance to survive.
