Mo Wuji didn’t move. Ding Zhongchen urgently said, “Brother Mo, if we delay any longer, even with the Seven Realms Stone, we won’t make it through.”
Mo Wuji replied gravely, “I’m wondering if I can use the Seven Realms Stone to return to my home planet in the shortest time. Many of my family and friends are there. The vast cosmos is dissolving, even the voids of high-level universes, let alone low-level ones. If I break through the Universe Wall to leave this cosmos now, I…” Though he said this, Mo Wuji was inwardly considering whether he could refine the Seven Realms Stone quickly.
To cross planes with the Seven Realms Stone, it had to be refined.
Ding Zhongchen, reflecting on his time with Mo Wuji, felt a deep respect. Despite Mo Wuji’s frequent seclusion for cultivation, Ding understood his character. Mo Wuji was an unconventional cultivator, lacking the coldness and selfishness typical of their kind. He possessed the kindness of Qin Chun, the former Dao Ancestor of the Xingfan World, and a quality most cultivators couldn’t comprehend—a cultivator with flesh, blood, and emotions, not one who’d sacrifice everything for the Great Path. This was why Ding admired him.
Ding knew that even if Mo Wuji refined Lan Xiaobu’s Seven Realms Stone, he couldn’t return in time. Softening his tone, he said, “Brother Mo, even if you refined the Seven Realms Stone and made it back, with the vast cosmos dissolving and cosmic rules turning to nothing, you couldn’t find your original location. I understand your thoughts. I only want to say that Brother Lan promised to do his utmost to bring them to safety. I believe he can. Both you and Brother Lan are the people I respect most. If this dissolution is so terrifying that even Brother Lan can’t manage, I believe you returning wouldn’t do better.”
Mo Wuji took a deep breath and said to Ding Zhongchen, “You’re right. If Xiaobu can’t do it, neither can I. More importantly, with the cosmic rules dissolving, the Seven Realms Stone can’t return either.” With that, the Seven Realms Stone under his feet turned into a shadow, swiftly cutting through the dissolving void. In a few breaths, it bypassed the Universe Wall.
Almost as Mo Wuji’s Seven Realms Stone passed, the Universe Wall stretched beyond the reach of divine sense, clearly separating two vast cosmoses.
Under Mo Wuji and the others’ divine sense, the cosmic rules in this void were intact, with no trace of dissolution.
Ding Zhongchen exhaled, “Good thing we made it. A bit later, and we’d have been too late…”
His words halted. Though the void here showed no dissolution, their divine senses, extending a certain distance, seemed blocked or abruptly vanished. Not just Ding Zhongchen, but everyone on the Seven Realms Stone noticed their divine senses disappearing after a certain range, as if swallowed.
Mo Wuji was the first to realise their divine senses could reach chaos—Hongmeng Chaos. In the Great Universe’s chaos, like the Kusheng Chaos Zone, his divine sense could penetrate slightly. Here, however, it touched only the edge before being inexplicably consumed.
“It’s definitely chaos. We’ve found the true Hongmeng Chaos,” Ding Zhongchen shouted excitedly. “If we locate the true chaos space within, we can build a new Great Thousand Cosmos, one for our human race.”
Not just Ding Zhongchen, but all cultivators on the Seven Realms Stone were thrilled. They’d searched for this moment for ages. Of those who set out together, barely one in a hundred survived. For many on the stone, this was their reason for living.
Though Mo Wuji worried about the Mortal World, finding the true Hongmeng Chaos stirred excitement in him too. He said loudly, “We’ll head to the edge of Hongmeng Chaos now. I’ll use the Seven Realms Stone to send Xiaobu a message, telling him we’ve found it.”
As Mo Wuji prepared to move the Seven Realms Stone, a massive spatial vortex suddenly appeared above it.
“It’s a spatial teleportation vortex, newly formed…” a cultivator said immediately.
Ding Zhongchen stared at the portal in shock, then said, “Could it be Brother Lan knew we found Hongmeng Chaos and is coming over?”
Such a void portal could only be formed by the Seven Realms Stone.
Mo Wuji’s divine sense locked onto the vortex, less optimistic than Ding Zhongchen. He knew Lan Xiaobu’s Seven Realms Stone could cross planes—otherwise, splitting it in two would be meaningless. The Seven Realms Stone, a supreme primordial treasure, could traverse realms and break planes. But Mo Wuji doubted it could breach the Universe Wall. The wall’s level surpassed high-level universes; could the Seven Realms Stone cross a barrier dividing cosmic voids?
“Fellow Daoist Ding, do you know the origin of the Universe Wall?” Mo Wuji asked after a moment.
Ding Zhongchen replied, “If Xingfan World’s Dao Ancestor Qin Chun were still here, he might know. Besides him, only Huan and Hui Zhi might have some knowledge. Perhaps Hongjun Dao Ancestor, the founder of the Great Desolate World, knows too. I’ve only heard fragments.”
“Please share,” Mo Wuji urged, clasping his fists. Even fragments were vital now.
Ding Zhongchen said, “The Universe Wall seems to coexist with new universes. It’s said one appeared when the Great Universe formed. Like Hongmeng Chaos, it’s born of the vast cosmic dao… Wait, every time the Universe Wall appears, it’s tied to a cosmic calamity… Could it be linked to the Great Universe Technique?”
Ding Zhongchen didn’t know much more than Mo Wuji, but his own words sparked doubt. The prime cultivator of the Great Universe Technique was Huan, but as Mo Wuji noted, Huan, even at the eighth or ninth step of the Great Path, couldn’t cause the vast cosmos to dissolve or form the Universe Wall.
Mo Wuji frowned in thought. At that moment, the teleportation vortex above the Seven Realms Stone grew larger, with vast cosmic rules swirling around it. Something massive was coming, but as the vortex and spatial rules surged, reaching a stability limit, the object hadn’t arrived. If this continued, the vortex would collapse.
“Brother Mo, if Brother Lan created this vortex, he might be facing issues, or the teleportation exceeds the Seven Realms Stone’s capacity,” Ding Zhongchen said, worried, his experience guiding him.
Though Mo Wuji doubted Lan Xiaobu could teleport past the Universe Wall, seeing the vortex near collapse, he frantically infused his spatial principles. He knew only Lan Xiaobu could create such a vortex above his Seven Realms Stone, as it belonged to Lan Xiaobu.
Since it was Lan Xiaobu’s doing, he had to help.
Mo Wuji’s Mortal Principles merged into the vortex, stabilising it despite its continued expansion. Unsure what Lan Xiaobu was teleporting, he worked to reinforce the space.
Meanwhile, Lan Xiaobu’s face paled. He’d been overconfident. Though the Seven Realms Stone could teleport, moving a planet was a first. His Great Path couldn’t support teleporting Mortal Star. No matter how he urged the stone’s teleportation principles, it wouldn’t budge.
Yet he couldn’t stop. If he did, Mortal Star, caught in the vortex, might collapse.
Just as Lan Xiaobu thought he couldn’t hold on and the vortex would fail, it stabilised, and he felt relief. Mo Wuji must have sensed his effort and was aiding from the other side. Seizing the chance, Lan Xiaobu frantically spurred the Seven Realms Stone’s vortex. As Mortal Star was swept away, he exhaled, collapsing onto the stone.
