Lan Xiaobu smiled, “I’m not entirely certain we can leave, but I’d say there’s a sixty percent chance. As long as everyone trusts me, that’s enough.”
Last time, he had teleported the Mortal Realm. Though he wasn’t sure if it had been successfully transported, he was confident no issues had arisen during the process. If there were no problems, the likelihood of a successful transfer was high.
“Brother Lan, I, Seven Cosmos Sky, trust you unconditionally,” Seven Cosmos Sky declared, stepping onto the Seven Realms Stone without hesitation.
As Seven Cosmos Sky boarded, all his followers joined him on the Seven Realms Stone. Chang Yi, already confident in Lan Xiaobu, stepped up without concern.
Kong Xinjian hesitated briefly before boarding as well. For him and those around him, there was nowhere else to go but to trust Lan Xiaobu. Perhaps he, an Eighth Step Great Dao cultivator, could barely survive the universe’s collapse, but what about the others?
Lan Xiaobu’s divine sense swept out, searching for Yang Tian, but he wasn’t there. As expected, Yang Tian, who had never gotten along with him, had likely left long ago.
Lan Xiaobu wasn’t looking for Yang Tian to ask about any issues but to inquire about the Great Wilderness World. Logically, the people of the Great Wilderness World, like Ya Suan, had come with him from the Great Wilderness Universe. Now, with the universe collapsing, they had likely scattered to seek their own survival.
“Brother Xiaobu, how do we proceed?” Shi Changxing, standing on the Seven Realms Stone, looked at Lan Xiaobu. No matter how far they travelled or how many planes they crossed, they would still be within the collapsing universe, and that wouldn’t change.
“I don’t know yet, but we’ll figure it out when the time comes,” Lan Xiaobu replied, casually activating the Chaos Path.
“Is that the Chaos Path?” Shi Changxing recognised it immediately.
Not only Shi Changxing but most people present identified it as the Chaos Path.
“Isn’t the Chaos Path in Qin Qingtian’s hands?” Seven Cosmos Sky asked, puzzled, looking at Lan Xiaobu. Though Qin Qingtian’s cultivation was average, he was cunning and formidable in battle, which was how he had obtained the Chaos Path from numerous powerhouses.
Kong Xinjian sighed, “Brother Lan, the Chaos Path consists of six paths, and the one you hold is just one of them. If the Chaos Path were complete, there might be a chance to cross the cosmic wall, though even then, the odds wouldn’t be high, perhaps less than ten percent. With only one path, there’s almost no chance at all.”
Lan Xiaobu had already integrated the Chaos Path into the Seven Realms Stone. Smiling, he said, “Let’s try and see.”
With that, he activated the teleportation laws of the Seven Realms Stone.
Having refined the Seven Realms Stone himself, its teleportation laws were tied to his Longevity Laws. Even in a place devoid of rules, the stone’s teleportation laws remained unaffected.
Lan Xiaobu believed that as long as Mo Wuji received the teleportation signal from his Seven Realms Stone, he would immediately activate his own, creating a resonance between the two stones across the cosmic wall, breaking through the void to teleport. This was far more reliable than when he had teleported the Mortal Star using the Seven Realms Stone. This was a mutual teleportation between two Seven Realms Stones, essentially a fusion.
At the same time, Mo Wuji, controlling his Seven Realms Stone, had lingered outside the Primordial Chaos they had discovered for a long time. He hadn’t suggested entering to seek a new Great Thousand Universe until Ding Zhongchen, growing impatient, spoke up. With the Primordial Chaos right before them, even without Lan Xiaobu, Ding Zhongchen believed that he and Mo Wuji had a chance to find the Great Thousand Universe.
“Brother Mo, why don’t we enter the Primordial Chaos first? If we find it, wouldn’t that be…” Ding Zhongchen’s words were cut off by Mo Wuji.
“I must wait for Lan Xiaobu to join us,” Mo Wuji insisted, fully aware of how crucial opening a Great Thousand Universe was for a cultivator.
Ding Zhongchen suggested, “Perhaps we could send a message to Friend Lan via the Seven Realms Stone.”
Mo Wuji replied calmly, “No need. Once Xiaobu finishes his tasks, he’ll come on his own. If he’s not done, sending a message would only distract him.”
Ding Zhongchen sighed inwardly and fell silent. Without Mo Wuji, even if he entered the Primordial Chaos and found a vitality space, he couldn’t open a Great Thousand Universe. He knew his own limitations. Leaving the Great Universe had been a reluctant choice.
At that moment, the spatial rules around the Seven Realms Stone fluctuated violently. Ding Zhongchen exclaimed with joy, “It must be Friend Lan arriving. This teleportation vortex isn’t on the Seven Realms Stone but around it.”
Only the Seven Realms Stone’s teleportation could cause such an effect.
Mo Wuji laughed heartily, knowing it was Lan Xiaobu. He quickly activated his Seven Realms Stone’s teleportation laws to resonate with Lan Xiaobu’s.
As Lan Xiaobu activated his stone’s teleportation laws, he immediately felt the response, confirming Mo Wuji was waiting for him.
In just a few breaths, the Seven Realms Stone tore through the void and vanished into the vastness.
“The cosmic wall…” Kong Xinjian shouted in shock. Not only him but Shi Changxing, Seven Cosmos Sky, and others also saw the cosmic wall.
The teleportation between the Seven Realms Stones was smooth, allowing those with cultivation at or above the Seventh Step of the Great Dao to sense external changes with their divine sense. Thus, they noticed the cosmic wall as the stone passed it.
“We’re done for, we’re going to hit the cosmic wall…” Shi Changxing barely uttered the words when the wall vanished.
Though they didn’t see how it disappeared, they knew the Seven Realms Stone had crossed it, though they had no idea how.
Kong Xinjian, still shaken, was about to ask Lan Xiaobu how he crossed the cosmic wall when he saw Lan Xiaobu wave his hand, collecting treasures falling from the void into his world.
Chang Yi thought to himself that Kong Xinjian’s foresight was lacking. If he hadn’t called Kong Xinjian to wait for Lan Xiaobu, he wouldn’t be here now. Unable to cross the cosmic wall and stuck in the Human Race Universe, what could one do but await death? Even an Eighth Step Great Dao cultivator would eventually perish in the collapsing vastness.
He had long suspected Lan Xiaobu had his own methods to cross the cosmic wall. With enough time around Lan Xiaobu, one would realise there was no need to worry about such things. Look at how Lan Xiaobu dealt with Huan or took the Cosmic Tree. Was it hard to guess he’d use the Chaos Path to cross the cosmic wall? Chang Yi hadn’t guessed it exactly, but he knew Lan Xiaobu had a way. His foresight had proven correct. Lan Xiaobu not only possessed the six paths of the Chaos Path but had placed them on both sides of the cosmic wall.
Impressive, truly impressive.
Kong Xinjian, seeing Lan Xiaobu wield all six paths of the Chaos Path, was equally shocked. Lan Xiaobu had gathered all six and strategically placed them on either side of the cosmic wall, effortlessly crossing it with their power.
*Click!* Lan Xiaobu’s Seven Realms Stone landed, merging with the one already waiting.
“Xiaobu, well done,” Mo Wuji laughed heartily. The Mortal Star had been teleported by Lan Xiaobu, and now Lan Xiaobu had arrived safely, leaving Mo Wuji pleased.
“Friend Lan, you’ve come at the perfect time,” Ding Zhongchen greeted, his voice filled with excitement.
With both Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji present, they were ready to enter the Primordial Chaos to open a Great Thousand World.
“Xiaobu, we need to enter the Primordial Chaos quickly to find a vitality planet. The others can survive temporarily in this void or enter my Mortal Universe, where my Mortal Star is,” Mo Wuji said, pointing to a distant floating planet.
Lan Xiaobu had already noticed the Mortal Star. Hesitating, he said, “Wuji, even if we open a Great Thousand Universe, I fear it’ll eventually meet the same fate as the Great Universe. Long ago, I saw a film about a cycle from birth to death. I’m afraid we’ll face the same.”
Mo Wuji sighed, “I know, but what can we do? Our personal law worlds may survive the vastness without collapsing, but when the vast universe collapses, our planets have nowhere to hide.”
Lan Xiaobu had no better solution. To Ding Zhongchen, he said, “Friend Ding, stay here with the others and keep watch. Wuji and I will enter the Primordial Chaos. If we find anything, we’ll return immediately.”
“Alright, I’ll wait outside,” Ding Zhongchen agreed, knowing that in the Primordial Chaos, only those with strong personal laws had the best chance to open a vitality universe. Too many people would hinder the process. Once the new universe was opened, they would be among the first living beings to enter, akin to primordial existences.
After settling everyone, Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji stood outside the Primordial Chaos, gazing at it. Lan Xiaobu said helplessly, “What even is this universe? Why doesn’t it give people a chance to live?”
“Because the Great Dao is selfish, and existence is arduous!” a sudden voice interjected.
“Who’s there?” Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji turned simultaneously, spotting an elderly man with an immortal aura standing before them.
“Ancestor Hongjun?” they exclaimed in unison.
The old man sighed, “You were right before. No matter how you open a new Great Thousand Universe, it will eventually return to dust. No vast universe lasts forever, only the duration of its collapse varies.”
“Are you Ancestor Hongjun?” Mo Wuji interrupted.
The old man looked at the Primordial Chaos, murmuring as if to himself, “Beyond the Nine Realms, it is so.”
“When I took the Cosmic Tree, was it you or Yang Mei who intervened?” Lan Xiaobu asked, staring at the old man.
Instead of answering directly, the old man abruptly asked, “Do you know why there’s no Ninth Step of the Great Dao?”
Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji shook their heads instinctively, unaware of the reason.
The old man said no more, walking toward the Primordial Chaos. Just before entering, he turned and said, “Follow me.”
Lan Xiaobu and Mo Wuji exchanged a glance but didn’t move. The old man had already stepped into the Primordial Chaos.
Mo Wuji sighed, “It’s not about whether he’s trustworthy. It’s about how we survive and open a new vitality universe.”
Both fell silent, gazing at the Primordial Chaos before them. With their realms and strength, they had cultivated the Great Dao to its peak. Yet, at this moment, they realised they had lost their direction.
What was the Dao?
Did eternal life truly exist?
