“My sister has a business dinner tonight and will stay late at the office to work overtime. Please deliver dinner to her.”
“Alright.”
Zhan Yuan came to deliver dinner to his future wife.
Ouyang Ting entered the lift.
As she turned, she saw Zhan Yuan already walking away.
Ouyang Ting smiled and muttered to herself, “When will I meet a good man who has eyes only for me?”
Her elder sister had met Zhan Yuan.
Even though their relationship wasn’t official yet, they already had each other in their eyes.
In the near future, they would surely become a couple, and if both families approved, they could become a loving husband and wife.
Thinking of her family’s situation, Ouyang Ting was a bit worried that her sister and Zhan Yuan might not end up together.
Her sister couldn’t marry far away, and after marriage, she would need to manage the Ouyang family business, which would keep her very busy. She would need understanding and support from her in-laws and husband.
The Zhan family had a good reputation, but that was only hearsay; no one knew what they were truly like.
Ouyang Ting thought she could persuade the elders to take a trip to Wan City, ideally convincing her sister to go along. Once in Wan City, they could learn more about the Zhan family.
But considering her sister’s independent nature, not even the elders could sway her decisions, so Ouyang Ting stopped worrying.
Their matters were for them to handle.
She didn’t need to concern herself.
Zhan Yuan knocked on the door of the CEO’s office and entered only after Ouyang Ya’s permission.
“Miss, it’s time to eat. Have dinner first.”
Zhan Yuan approached, placing the delivered dinner on Ouyang Ya’s desk, then began tidying her desk to ensure she wouldn’t be distracted by work while eating.
As Zhan Yuan said, when eating, one should focus solely on the meal, not think about work, to truly savour the flavours of the ingredients.
Only Zhan Yuan dared to say and do such things.
With his status as the sixth young master of the Zhan family, his exceptional culinary skills, and his successful business, his future wife valued capable people. She was polite to him and quite accommodating.
That’s why he dared to speak so boldly, though he remained respectful in Ouyang Ya’s presence, never crossing the line too far.
Ouyang Ya liked this about him.
“Miss, please wash your hands and eat. I’ll go rinse the fruit.”
Zhan Yuan had also brought some fresh fruit, prepared as an after-dinner treat for Ouyang Ya.
For the fruit, he insisted Ouyang Ya wait half an hour after eating before having it.
“Alright, I’m quite hungry anyway.”
Seeing the dinner he brought, Ouyang Ya’s appetite surged.
After a busy afternoon that drained her energy, it was time to recharge.
“Have you eaten?”
Ouyang Ya asked casually while washing her hands in the small pantry, addressing Zhan Yuan, who was rinsing the fruit.
“I’ll eat later. Food tastes best when it’s still warm, fresh from the pot.”
Ouyang Ya paused, then said to him, “Starting tomorrow, prepare an extra portion. We’ll eat together.”
Every time she finished eating, he would eat only after, missing the proper mealtime.
With him looking after her three meals a day, Ouyang Ya’s stomach issues had flare-ups less often. He urged her to eat at fixed times, ensuring regular meals that helped nurture her stomach.
She couldn’t let him develop stomach issues just because he’d helped her recover from hers.
Usually, he waited half an hour after she ate, until she had some fruit, before leaving.
Sometimes, she’d chat with him about family matters, enjoying his stories about his family and his brothers. She felt that he and his brothers, even his cousins, had a strong bond.
It was better than many people’s relationships with their own siblings.
Worried he might refuse, Ouyang Ya added, “I don’t enjoy eating alone. Having someone with me makes the food taste better.”
