Zhan Yin said jealously, “I knew you love the kids more than me. Wife, we’re the ones who’ll spend our lives together. Once the kids grow up, they’ll leave us and have their own families.”
“You need to put me first, not let the kids surpass me.”
“Zhan Yin, aren’t you ashamed? Those are your children. You dote on them too. Every day when you come home from work, you ask about Beibei first, not your wife. I’ve been jealous too.”
“Don’t eat too much vinegar, or it’ll soften your teeth and affect your eating.”
Zhan Yin laughed, “I can’t help it. I just love competing with the kids for attention. They compete with me, their dad, too.”
“Every time we want to be romantic, those two little ones squeeze right in between us, insisting on separating us a bit.”
“Even at night when I want to be intimate with you, I have to watch out for those two.”
“Before, it was Baobao we watched for. Now he’s more sensible, but we have Beibei. She still sleeps with us. When she’s a bit older, she’ll have her own room.”
Zhan Yin adored his children, but when he wanted to be close with his wife and the kids interrupted, he felt frustrated and helpless, complaining that he’d created two little rivals for himself.
Haitong chuckled twice again, “I don’t know who it was that said Beibei is your heart and soul, your life. Now you’re complaining about her.”
“If Beibei knew Daddy was fed up with her, haha, she wouldn’t let you hold her for a month, and it’d drive you mad.”
Zhan Yin quickly raised the white flag in surrender, “Wife, I’m just venting. It’s not that I really dislike Beibei. We only have one daughter, and she’s our heart and soul.”
“Since having Beibei, I don’t envy Ye Junbo at all anymore. Haha, I, Zhan Yin, have a daughter too. The Zhan family isn’t a monastery anymore, all thanks to Beibei.”
“Yanyan is already in primary school, pretty and cute, with good grades, and so sensible. Ye Junbo doesn’t need to envy you at all.”
When the Jun Yan siblings were one, Haitong had Baobao. Now Baobao is six, so the Jun Yan siblings are seven and in primary school. The little siblings both do well in studies, and at seven, they’ve learned quite a few talents.
Jun Yan’s personality is still steady. She’s not the eldest sister, but among the Jun family kids, she has the air of a big sister. Everyone dotes on her and listens to her.
Mu Qing privately told Haitong that the one to take over Fengchen Group would likely be Jun Yan.
With just one daughter, Mu Qing really didn’t want her to take over.
Haitong could only comfort her that Yanyan was still young, far from succession. Boys mature later. When Ye Yao and his brothers grow up, they might be even more mature and steady than Jun Yan.
Heavy, tiring work should naturally fall to the boys.
The successor should be one of the boys.

But Haitong had never thought of making her daughter the successor.
No one in the Zhan family wanted that either, not because they favoured boys over girls or doubted Beibei’s future ability, but because they cherished the girl. They just wanted to spoil Beibei as she grew up, letting her be carefree.
Doing what she liked, without the burden of the family business.
The eldest brother was the firstborn son and grandson, with several cousins. They could shoulder the load and take over the family business.
