When walking, Zhan Wei could memorise a route after some time. But since he usually drove, he didn’t pay attention to his surroundings, so without navigation, he’d get lost.
This weakness, his slight sense of directionlessness, was something Zhan Wei never mentioned. Even his family didn’t know.
Nowadays, most people used navigation when driving, so his reliance on it wasn’t noticeable.
“Miss Lan, will this take up too much of your time?”
“No, it’s been a while since I’ve gone out for a stroll myself. Sister Haitong, let’s meet later. Wait for me at the Yangcheng Grand Hotel.”
The Yangcheng Grand Hotel was well-known in Yangcheng, and it was where they first met, so Lan Ruoruo suggested Haitong wait there.
“Alright, I won’t stand on ceremony then.”
“Sister Haitong, I felt an instant connection with you, like we’ve been friends for over a decade. No need to be so polite with me.”
Lan Ruoruo couldn’t quite explain why she felt such a strong bond with Haitong upon their first meeting, as if they’d been friends for years.
“I feel the same. See you later then.”
Most girls Haitong clicked with at first meeting ended up as her sisters-in-law. She thought this might be the fate of becoming family.
Her sisters-in-law all came from excellent backgrounds, truly matching the Zhan family’s status, unlike her own elevated status later on. Yet, they all respected her as the eldest sister-in-law.
Now, as she gradually took over the household duties from her mother-in-law, her sisters-in-law respected her even more and supported her work.
Their shared goal was to uphold the Zhan family’s good traditions, creating a warm and stable environment for the younger generation.
After the call, Haitong said to Zhan Wei, “Miss Lan asked to meet at the Yangcheng Grand Hotel. Old Seven, when you see her later, don’t start bickering. You’re a man, be magnanimous.”
Zhan Wei pursed his lips. “If she doesn’t provoke me, I won’t argue with her.”
“She’s kind to everyone else. She calls you Sister Haitong so warmly, like you’re sisters. But with me, she’s a completely different person.”
Haitong teased, “You’re the same. You’re usually gentle and polite to everyone. You and your brothers have better tempers than your eldest brother. But with Miss Lan, you’re harsh, nothing like your usual refined self.”
“Both of you show your worst sides to each other. Old Seven, if you try being gentle with Miss Lan, I bet it’d shock her. She’d think you’re plotting something big against her.”
Zhan Wei was speechless.
Should he try a different approach?
As his sister-in-law suggested, being gentle with Lan Ruoruo might indeed shock her, making her think he was planning some grand move.
Zhan Wei took his sister-in-law and the kids out for dinner.
After eating, they waited at the hotel for half an hour. By around eight in the evening, Lan Ruoruo arrived at the Yangcheng Grand Hotel.
Seeing Zhan Wei there, she frowned.
“Ruoruo, good evening.”
Before Lan Ruoruo could speak, Zhan Wei suddenly greeted her gently, his voice soft and warm.
Lan Ruoruo, who had stepped forward, froze at his words. She pulled her foot back, retreating a few steps, eyeing him warily.
Was she hearing things, or had he been possessed?
He, he, he actually greeted her, and his voice was so gentle it could drip water.
She was extremely unaccustomed to it.
