After ending the call, Zhan Wei took a hot shower in a cheerful mood, then lay on the bed scrolling through his phone.
He and Lan Ruoruo had talked about children tonight; things were moving fast between them.
As soon as she returned from her business trip, he would start preparing the marriage proposal.
While playing on his phone, he was searching online for how others had decorated their proposal scenes.
He wanted to make the proposal venue incredibly romantic, and of course, there was the proposal diamond ring.
He would have to go home for a visit and ask his mother for a few sets of jewellery. He could buy some himself, but nothing bought outside could compare with his mother’s collection.

He would follow his eldest brother’s advice and try to get married within this year.

Old Master Lan sat in the garden pavilion, wearing reading glasses and slowly turning the pages of today’s newspaper.
Footsteps approached from a distance.

Old Master Lan did not even lift his head from the newspaper. “They’re back, so they’re back. It’s not as if they’ve become high officials out there and need their old father to go out to welcome them.”
“Pour me another pot of tea and bring some snacks. I’m a bit hungry.”
The butler said, “Old Master, drinking so much tea will affect your sleep.”
Old Master Lan glanced at the sky outside. “It’s only the afternoon. There’s still a long time before bedtime. Another pot of tea won’t disturb my sleep tonight. I’ve been drinking tea for decades; I’ve built up immunity.”
Tea no longer affected his sleep.
The butler had no choice but to refill the teapot and bring out some fruit and pastries, arranging them neatly on the stone table.
“You can go and get on with your work. I don’t need anyone to wait on me here.”
Old Master Lan sent the butler away.
The butler said, “Old Master, won’t you go back inside the house? It’s hot outside.”
“It’s not that hot. There’s a breeze today, and the pavilion is surrounded by trees that give shade. When the wind blows, it’s very cool. I like sitting here, enjoying the breeze, drinking tea, and reading the paper.”
What a pleasant life in old age.
This is why children must be brought up well. Once they are properly raised and can take over, the older generation can retire and enjoy their later years in peace.
His own son had retired even earlier than he had. Fortunately, the grandchildren were capable and could shoulder big responsibilities, so the old master could now live comfortably in retirement.
Seeing that the marriages of his eldest grandson and eldest granddaughter were finally settling down, the old master’s mood became even better.

At first the butler was puzzled why the master and madam needed two cars, until he learned that one was solely for the luggage. Only then did he wonder just how many things they had brought back.
