Being the boss is just too hard!
He really wasn’t cut out for it. Even though Zhan Wei had already tidied the whole company into perfect order, Chang Xiao still found it overwhelming.
The moment he heard Zhan Wei was back, Chang Xiao scooped up the huge pile of folders and scurried off to find him like an eager puppy.
Zhan Wei had only just sat down and hadn’t even turned on his computer when the office door was flung open. He looked up, saw it was Chang Xiao and said, “Brother Xiao, don’t you know how to knock?”
“Oh, right, knocking.”
Chang Xiao stepped back out, knocked politely, but Zhan Wei didn’t say “come in”. Suddenly Chang Xiao realised he’d been tricked.
He immediately twisted the handle to let himself in again.
Too late. Zhan Wei had locked the door from the inside. No matter how he jiggled it, the door wouldn’t budge.
“Zhan Wei! A-Wei! Good brother, open up! Help me out! There’s so many files my head is spinning and I’m falling asleep. You take care of them, even half would be fine.”
“Look, you came in late today. I had to chair the morning meeting all by myself. There’s no reason I should handle all these documents alone, right?”
“Good brother, open the door, please!”
Chang Xiao pounded on the door and begged.
Through the door, Zhan Wei replied, “Brother Xiao, it’s just a few documents. All you need to do is sign them. What’s so hard?”
“I’ve got a pile waiting here too. We each do our own. Hurry back to your office and stop shouting outside my door. If you annoy me, I’ll carry my whole stack over for you to deal with.”
“I took leave to spend time with my fiancée. Anyway, you founded Yangtai. I’m just a highly-paid employee.”
Chang Xiao: “……Good brother, you’re a proper boss now too. We each own fifty percent. You’re the boss, not an employee.”
“Didn’t you just propose successfully? It’s office hours right now. Miss Lan has to work too. She’s busy. If you go over, you’ll only waste her precious time. What’s the point? Stay in the company, get more done, earn more money.”
“Once a man marries, he has a family to support. Later there’ll be children to raise and school fees to pay. That needs lots and lots of money.”
“Earn money while you can. The economy isn’t great. We should cherish our jobs.”
From inside came a single word: “Scram!”
Chang Xiao instantly stopped banging and shouting. He rubbed his nose, hugged the folders, and trudged back to his own office.
The secretary was smirking.
Chang Xiao couldn’t help complaining, “What are you laughing at? I really don’t know how to run things.”
“Who asked Boss Chang to be such a gossip and rush back to the company for the drama? Doesn’t he know men in love just want to slack off?”
The secretary laughed, showing no sympathy at all.
Boss Zhan was right. Chang Xiao was the founder of Yangtai yet had abandoned it completely. He had been a seriously negligent boss. Now it was time he shouldered the responsibility again.
There were more than ten thousand employees in the company who still needed both helmsmen to lead them further, or at least to protect everyone’s jobs.
Chang Xiao: “……”
He muttered under his breath all the way back to his office.
At least Zhan Wei had proposed successfully. Once he and Lan Ruoruo were married and the honeymoon passion faded, Zhan Wei would turn back into the old workaholic.
Then Chang Xiao could go back to being a hands-off boss.
A workaholic Zhan Wei would snatch all his work away anyway, complaining that he was slow and clueless.
