Zhan Wei is truly Yang Tai’s lifesaver. Squeezing out Zhan Wei would be tantamount to wanting Yang Tai to go bankrupt, wouldn’t it?
Mrs Chang duly dismissed all her relatives from her natal family. From then on, the couple never again placed any relatives in the company.
This was to prevent their relatives from relying on being the boss’s kin, disregarding the company’s rules and regulations, refusing discipline, taking advantage of the company, and pilfering everything for home.
Later, Mrs Chang preferred to occasionally give her relatives a bit of money rather than arrange jobs for them again.
Her natal relatives also understood that, no matter how good Yang Tai was, they could no longer get in. Who told them they lacked real ability? They had fully expected to lord it over others at Yang Tai by relying on Mrs Chang’s connection.
Who knew that the Chang couple trusted Zhan Wei so much.
Unable to stir up trouble any longer, they settled down and behaved.
Mrs Chang’s second uncle’s daughter fell head over heels after meeting Zhan Wei once, but after being warned by her older cousin, she no longer dared to pester him.
Unexpectedly, she came over today.
When she arrived, Mrs Chang quickly phoned her husband, telling him not to bring Zhan Wei home for dinner anymore, lest the younger cousin see Zhan Wei and become infatuated again.
After two years apart, the younger cousin had finally found a new boyfriend.
Zhan Wei let out an “oh”, then said, “Then I’ll go eat at the Yangcheng Grand Hotel, but you can go home for dinner. She won’t climb into your bed, after all.”
“Forget it. I lose my appetite just seeing her. If not for your sister-in-law still needing to keep ties with her natal family, I wouldn’t even want to let her through the door.”
“We’ll eat at the hotel. It’s not just her coming; there are other relatives too, a noisy crowd of the whole extended family. I’m too lazy to deal with them. Eating out is quieter.”
Since Chang Xiao had put it that way, Zhan Wei naturally did not try to persuade him to go home for dinner.
The lift reached the ground floor, and the two men stepped out.
Chang Xiao wanted to ride in Zhan Wei’s car. Zhan Wei teased him: “You’re reluctant to drive your new car?”
“Yes, reluctant. Don’t you want to give me a lift?”
Zhan Wei smiled. “If you’re reluctant to drive it, why buy it? Just for display?”
Chang Xiao laughed heartily.
Men love cars. He did not have many hobbies, yet like other men, he loved cars. After having money, he bought quite a few good ones, kept them in the garage, and drove whichever he fancied.
Apart from buying cars, Chang Xiao also liked fishing. Whenever he went fishing, you could forget about seeing him for the whole day.
Mrs Chang disliked his fishing the most. When she saw him about to go, she even broke his fishing rod.
The two got into the car.
Zhan Wei drove.
After the car left the company, Zhan Wei said to Chang Xiao, “Brother Xiao, I know that initially your sister-in-law’s natal relatives lent you a bit of money, but over these many years, you’ve repaid them with interest.”
“Now it’s not you who owe them; it’s they who owe you.”
“If you keep helping them like that, they won’t strive to work and earn money themselves. Anyway, if something happens or they need cash, they come to you, and you’ll give it. They have no drive at all.”
“You get annoyed constantly being pestered by them for money.”
“Stop indulging them like this, especially the younger generation. Let them go out and make their own way, find jobs. In future, if they get into trouble, don’t use money to clean up the mess for them again.”
