Doctor Lin replied casually.
“If she is on holiday, why does she not come over to help you? You are her senior after all. Your dad and I have been here for several days, yet she has not once come to see us on her own or join us for a meal.”
“She does not take us seriously at all. Such an arrogant woman who shows no respect to her elders still wants to marry into a wealthy family. Pah. Even our family would look down on her, let alone a rich one.”
Doctor Lin said helplessly, “Mum, can you please stop saying these things? She only sees me as a senior, nothing more than an ordinary relationship. She does not owe me anything, so why would she come and help me the moment she gets time off?”
“When she has free time, she helps her second uncle.”
“She rejected me completely and thoroughly. How could she possibly come and have a meal with you just because Mum and Dad are here? Would that not give me false hope?”
Doctor Lin fell silent for a moment, then sighed. “Mum, from now on, please do not speak badly of Xiaoya. She has done nothing wrong. Where she goes with Young Master Zhan is her own freedom. She is not related to us in any way. We cannot control her movements.”
At first he was unwilling to accept it. Ever since he learned that his rival was the eighth young master of the richest Zhan family, Doctor Lin knew he had no chance.
