Zhan Yue believed in his own judgement and also believed in the judgement of the elders.
A girl he liked, and whom the elders at home also liked at first sight, would not be bad.

Zhan Yue said, “I am not saying these words to deceive Doctor Lin, nor am I trying to force Doctor Lin to withdraw from the competition. These are my true feelings. I will do what I say. Telling Doctor Lin this is to make him completely give up.”
“Do not keep entangling Xiaoya and making her upset. I hope she can be happy.”
Doctor Lin looked at him, and he looked back at Doctor Lin.

Looking one more time would only make him jealous to the point of madness.

Zhan Yue stood up and left.
Doctor Lin silently drank his coffee and soon finished it.
After sitting quietly for a while, he stood up to pay the bill. After leaving the cafe, he did not go home immediately. Instead, he drove to a bar. As soon as he entered, he ordered several bottles of alcohol and drank alone to drown his sorrow.
Letting Xiaoya and Zhan Yue be together was nothing more than giving himself a dignified way out.
He knew very well that even if he did not let go, he still would not get Xiaoya.
But even after letting go, he had not truly moved on. His heart still hurt, and he felt extremely uncomfortable inside.
