Slap!
Ling Xiao easily caught the glint of cold light, a three-inch throwing knife, finely crafted with a “Phoenix” character etched on the handle.
Aside from the material, this knife was nearly identical to the one Wu Xiang had given him.
A chill flashed in Ling Xiao’s eyes as he toyed with the knife. “Isn’t the lady’s attack a bit too rude and vicious?”
The girl sneered, “Trash should stay in their place and not act like they’re someone. Worse is yet to come.”
Her words made Ling Xiao’s gaze grow colder. They were strangers, yet over a trivial matter, she tried to take his life.
Not only that, she kept calling him trash.
No one could endure such treatment.
In Tianlong Continent, Ling Xiao would have acted already, but being new here and unfamiliar with the situation, he had held back.
Yet the girl pressed further. When her knife missed, she flicked her hands, sending over a dozen glints of cold light toward Ling Xiao’s vital points.
“What a waste of a pretty face. With such a venomous heart, no matter how beautiful, you’re repulsive.”
There was a limit to his patience.
Ling Xiao couldn’t keep taking attacks without retaliating, even in the unfamiliar Shenhuang Continent.
One principle remained unchanged: survival of the fittest.
Show weakness, and you’d be trampled, as he was now.
He hadn’t acted, only spoken a few ordinary words, yet was treated this way.
If he were an ordinary person or weaker, he’d already be a cold corpse.
Was he supposed to kneel like trash and let her slaughter him?
Impossible.
Since he began cultivating, Ling Xiao had never suffered such humiliation.
“On the verge of death and still spouting nonsense. Tianlong Continent’s trash really has a death wish,” a man behind the girl sneered.
Her knives were fast and cunningly angled, but her cultivation was pitifully low, merely an eighth-stage mortal realm martial artist. Where did her arrogance come from?
“Let’s see who’s the trash,” Ling Xiao scoffed, not even drawing his sword. With a flick of his hand, terrifying Tianyuan energy surged, shattering the dozen knives and rushing toward the girl.
The three men behind her sensed danger and acted. Together, the four barely neutralised Ling Xiao’s energy.
Even so, the girl coughed up blood, internally injured.
The onlookers, fearing involvement, backed away, leaving a wide space.
“This young man looks young but is already a Tianmai martial artist with strong Tianyuan energy,” one remarked.
They couldn’t gauge the others’ cultivation, but Ling Xiao’s attack gave a rough estimate.
“The girl’s bodyguards seem to be Tianmai martial artists too,” another noted.
“These youngsters are something else,” a third said.
“Indeed,” others agreed.
The crowd was astonished. Ling Xiao, barely fifteen or sixteen, and the girl’s bodyguards, in their twenties, were Tianmai martial artists, impressive even in Shenhuang Continent.
“You dare fight back?” the girl, pale and furious, glared at Ling Xiao, enraged by her injury.
She relied on her backing to bully martial artists fleeing from Tianlong Continent, killing without consequence.
But today, she met someone who dared harm her.
“Idiot. Didn’t your family teach you not to offend strangers? You tried to kill me. Should I beg for death? You’re utterly foolish,” Ling Xiao said, half-laughing, certain she came from a powerful family to be so spoiled.
“Forget it. Since you’re an idiot, I won’t hold it against you. Leave now,” he said.
“Damn you. Kneel!” the girl shouted.
“What did you say?” Ling Xiao stepped forward, his murderous intent filling the clothing shop, making everyone shudder.
Her three bodyguards gasped, their faces showing shock.
Ling Xiao’s killing intent was formidable.
Yet the girl, like a fool, kept shouting, “I said kneel, cripple your own martial arts, and leave Shenhuang Continent, or you’ll die.”
She had never been so humiliated in the Shenhuang Empire. Injured by a Tianlong Continent trash, how could she let it go?
“Utterly laughable. Since your parents won’t teach you manners, I’ll do it for them today,” Ling Xiao said.
He had endured repeatedly, but she kept pushing, demanding he kneel and destroy his martial arts.
In Tianlong Continent, he’d have killed her with one strike.
Though he didn’t want trouble here, staying passive wasn’t his style.
“Those who humiliate others will be humiliated,” Ling Xiao roared, thrusting both palms forward. Without using martial techniques, he wrapped his palms in light energy and struck.
“Stop!” the three bodyguards, wary of Ling Xiao, had to act.
If the girl was harmed, they’d lose their lives.
They drew long swords, thrusting at Ling Xiao’s palms like the fangs of three ferocious wolves.
The fight began, drawing a crowd from inside the shop and the street, who thought, not all Tianlong Continent refugees were weak. This boy, provoked by the girl, fought back like a true man.
He was no ordinary figure, or he wouldn’t be so bold.
“Get lost!” Ling Xiao didn’t even glance at the three bodyguards blocking him.
Below the Tianren realm, he had no rivals. Though their cultivation matched his, their martial spirits and inner strength were far inferior.
They stood no chance.
Boom!
With a flash of light like a small sun exploding, the three bodyguards were sent flying. One landed on the street, two crashed through the shop’s walls.
The shop owner was nearly in tears.
The crowd was stunned.
