Heaven Devourer Chapter 129

The sudden sound caused Poison Fang’s advancing body to pause slightly, followed by the whoosh of something slicing through the air behind his head.

“Courting death!”

Poison Fang’s expression darkened, and his outstretched right hand swung fiercely backward.

The red giant python, originally lunging at the rabbit demon Red Eye, turned its head and bit down on a streak of light that shot toward it.

Instantly, sparks flew in all directions.

“I wondered who it was. So it’s the Fourth General!”

“If the Great King Grandpa finds out about this, I’m afraid you’ll have some explaining to do, General.”

A mocking voice rang out from the distance, and then the figure turned and fled, sprinting up the mountain.

*Crack!*

The red giant python bit down hard, instantly crushing the flying sword in its mouth into countless fragments.

“A mere demon minion dares to threaten this General? Truly ignorant of life and death!”

Poison Fang snorted coldly, leaping forward to chase after the fleeing demon minion.

Soon, both figures vanished from Red Eye’s sight.

Only then did Red Eye let out a long breath, the terrifying pressure finally gone. He muttered softly, “Was that guy just now Lu Dingmu?”

Realising this, Red Eye didn’t dare linger. He turned and rushed into the cave, only to find the other demons sprawled out, snoring loudly in deep sleep.

Ignoring them, Red Eye headed straight to Mo Fan’s room, where he found him meditating cross-legged.

“What’s wrong?”

Sensing Red Eye’s arrival, Mo Fan opened his eyes immediately.

“Master, big trouble! That old schemer Poison Fang came to kill us!”

Red Eye shouted in a panic.

Poison Fang?

Old schemer?

Mo Fan’s face twitched at the words, but his expression quickly grew serious as he asked, “Where is he?”

“He’s gone. He went after Lu Dingmu!”

Red Eye recounted everything that had just happened.

“Not good. Lu Tantun is in danger!”

Mo Fan’s eyes flashed with alarm as he finally understood why Lu Tantun had been acting so strangely before.

So Lu Tantun had known all along and had been lingering near the cave, likely for this very moment.

Was he trying to trade his life for Mo Fan’s?

Mo Fan took a deep breath, his eyes turning bloodshot as everything became clear.

“Wake those fools up. Until I return, stay by the back door!

If danger comes, jump into the Spring Pool. It might save your lives!”

“Master, you’re not going out, are you?” The rabbit demon’s eyes widened.

“I’m going to check things out. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine!”

With that, Mo Fan didn’t hesitate. He stood up, a crimson armour materialising on his body, and strode quickly out of the cave.

*Splash!*

The sound of water breaking echoed as a graceful figure emerged from the Spring Pool. With a light step of her bare white feet on the ground, she chased after Mo Fan.

“Blazing sun! Since when was there such a beautiful female demon hiding in Master’s cave?!”

Red Eye stared at the departing figure, his eyes growing even redder as he stood stunned.

“What are you doing following me?”

Outside the cave, Mo Fan noticed the movement behind him and frowned slightly.

“To protect you, naturally!”

Bai Yaoyao spoke calmly, her bare feet moving without picking up any dust, like an elf dancing under the moonlight. She soon reached Mo Fan’s side.

“You can fight a Demon General?” Mo Fan asked, surprised.

“Don’t underestimate a former Demon King. I don’t need to fight him, but protecting you should be within my ability,” Bai Yaoyao said calmly.

“What’s your reason for doing this? It seems you have no cause to save me,” Mo Fan said, puzzled.

“There is a reason.”

Bai Yaoyao looked at him, thought for a moment, and said, “Though you’re quite lacking, your cultivation speed truly shocks me. And your ability to cultivate the Ten Thousand Poisons Spirit Body shows you can endure what others cannot.

More importantly, you’re the demon the White Tiger Saint King guided me to. My instincts tell me I should ensure your safety!”

“Thank you!”

Mo Fan nodded, saying no more. He spat out two Godspeed Talismans, affixing them to his legs.

After carefully sensing the faint demonic aura lingering in the air, Mo Fan chased in one direction.

Demons were naturally far more sensitive to demonic aura than human cultivators, and since Poison Fang and Lu Tantun’s clash hadn’t happened long ago, Mo Fan had little trouble tracking them.

“I’m curious. That deer demon you mentioned is just a demon minion. How dare he provoke a Demon General?”

Bai Yaoyao followed Mo Fan at a leisurely pace, a hint of doubt in her eyes.

“Probably to repay a debt,” Mo Fan said after some thought.

“Repay a debt?”

Bai Yaoyao was taken aback.

Mo Fan didn’t elaborate further. He had already understood Lu Tantun’s intentions.

Lu Tantun had likely suspected Poison Fang for a while but couldn’t confirm it. Though he knew the disappearance of Black Wind Mountain’s demons might be related, he hadn’t told Mo Fan.

Because Lu Tantun knew that even if he did, it wouldn’t change anything. If Mo Fan fled the mountain in panic, he’d likely fall into Poison Fang’s hands.

Telling the Black Wind Demon King or the other Demon Generals wasn’t realistic either. Poison Fang wouldn’t stand idly by; it would only provoke his ferocity, prompting him to act sooner.

So whether fleeing or informing, the result would be the same: death!

Knowing this, Lu Tantun hadn’t revealed his true thoughts, instead subtly warning Mo Fan to be cautious.

He had been waiting for a chance, a chance for Mo Fan to survive.

A chance to trade his life for Mo Fan’s!

Just like now, he had revealed himself to lure Poison Fang away, giving Mo Fan a chance to escape.

“Lu Tantun, oh, Lu Tantun! You really don’t know me at all!”

“How could I abandon you and flee alone?!”

“Greedy, lustful, and terrified of death, yet you insist on playing the hero. Aren’t you afraid of dying for good?!”

Mo Fan’s heart was filled with mixed emotions. It was the first time he’d been moved by a demon’s actions.

He led Bai Yaoyao toward the mountain peak but suddenly stopped as the demonic aura trail broke off.

“No, they turned around. They must have gone down the mountain!”

Bai Yaoyao’s eyes narrowed slightly before opening again, speaking calmly.

Mo Fan didn’t doubt her and followed the direction she indicated.

The chase lasted a full two incense sticks’ time, taking them far from Black Wind Mountain.

“Lu Tantun, you better hold on!!”

Mo Fan’s heart burned with urgency.

After an unknown amount of time, Mo Fan finally saw a scene that made his eyes nearly split with rage.

Under the direct moonlight, at the edge of a cliff, a red robe fluttered in the wind, like blood swirling in the breeze.

Poison Fang stood expressionless, his right hand raised high, holding the limp body of Lu Tantun.

“No!!”
