Heaven Devourer Chapter 139

Two figures swiftly moved through the dense forest. After covering ten miles, the anticipated ambush still hadn’t occurred.

This allowed Mo Fan to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

“It seems they’ve long gone. But if we head back now, we might face that venomous snake directly. Are you confident?”

Bai Yaoyao withdrew her demonic aura, which had been probing the surroundings, and looked at Mo Fan.

“Eight days ago, I wouldn’t have been.”

“But now, I think Du Ya is a fine target!”

Mo Fan grinned, showing no trace of fear when mentioning Du Ya.

Having achieved the Ten Thousand Poisons Spirit Body, he was eager to test the power of the poison bead within him. If Du Ya came knocking, he wouldn’t mind using him as a test subject.

To see whether the snake demon’s venom was stronger or his Ten Thousand Poisons Spirit Body superior.

“As long as you’re confident, let’s head back!”

Bai Yaoyao nodded, not questioning Mo Fan’s words.

In just half a day, the two demons trekked through mountains and rivers, returning to Black Wind Mountain without incident.

Upon arriving, Bai Yaoyao’s brows furrowed slightly.

“What’s wrong?” Mo Fan asked.

“There’s a little rat spying on us. Probably one of Du Ya’s underlings,” Bai Yaoyao said.

A little rat?

Mo Fan’s brows twitched. He released his demonic aura, spreading it outwards.

As it extended, he soon sensed something.

But when he reached a spot behind a cliff, he found only a large hole with faint traces of demonic aura. The owner was long gone.

“It seems that snake still hasn’t given up on you. If we don’t deal with him, he’ll likely strike from the shadows later,” Bai Yaoyao said gravely.

“In that case, let’s take him out first!”

Mo Fan smiled, turning towards another mountain peak.

“You’re going to confront that snake directly?”

Bai Yaoyao’s eyes lit up with interest, and she quickly followed Mo Fan.

“No, just to scout things out. Of course, if the opportunity arises, I wouldn’t mind getting rid of him!”

Mo Fan’s lips curled, his pace quickening.

As one of Black Wind Mountain’s four demon generals, Du Ya’s residence was far from ordinary, occupying an entire mountain peak.

Though Mo Fan had never been to Du Ya’s cave, he knew the general direction.

Along the way, he noticed several lesser demons watching from the shadows, all under Du Ya’s command.

Surprisingly, he saw none of the demon soldiers, which sparked a suspicion.

“Perhaps those soldiers were already offered to Qin Changsheng for his schemes…”

Mo Fan mused, ignoring the lesser demons.

He couldn’t wipe out all of Du Ya’s followers, nor was it necessary. Most importantly, he feared angering the Black Wind Demon King.

Though he had achieved the Ten Thousand Poisons Spirit Body, he was still wary of the Demon King.

As for Du Ya, he could act first and report later, exposing his collusion with human cultivators to harm Black Wind Mountain’s demons. The Demon King might be furious, but he wouldn’t act rashly.

If Mo Fan could kill Du Ya, it would mean a new candidate for the four generals, which wouldn’t be a loss for the Demon King.

This calculation emboldened Mo Fan to head straight for Du Ya’s cave.

Soon, a massive cave entrance came into view.

Above it, three crooked characters were carved: Poison Dragon Cave!

“A mere snake demon dares to call itself a ‘dragon’?”

“Truly courting death!”

Bai Yaoyao sneered at the sight.

Mo Fan said nothing, his gaze falling on the two lesser demons guarding the entrance.

Both had human bodies and snake tails, clearly of the same kin as Du Ya.

“Which general’s soldiers are you?”

“This is the Fourth General’s cave. If you’re here to visit, show your invitation!”

Seeing Mo Fan and Bai Yaoyao, the two demons spoke, their cold gazes fixed on them.

Mo Fan didn’t answer, instead asking, “Is Du Ya in the cave?”

“Insolent!”

“Audacious!”

The two demons shouted. One sneered, “How dare a mere soldier speak the Fourth General’s name?!”

*Slap!*

Before he finished, Mo Fan slapped him, sending him flying.

“Even a lowly soldier isn’t for you lesser demons to insult!”

Mo Fan snorted, striding towards the cave without further questions.

The other demon trembled in fear but didn’t move aside. Mo Fan didn’t hesitate, slapping him away as well.

Just as he was about to enter, Du Ya’s calm voice came from within, “Is that Soldier Lai Bao?”

Mo Fan paused, looking into the dark cave with a smile. “I heard the Fourth General is injured. Lai Bao came to check, perhaps I can help treat your wounds!”

“It’s a minor injury, no need to trouble Soldier Lai Bao. I’m feeling tired and don’t wish to be disturbed, so please leave!”

“Fourth General, since I’m here, I must take a look!”

Unfazed, Mo Fan lifted his foot to enter.

“No need. I’ve already informed the First and Second Generals. They should arrive soon.”

“I heard Soldier Lai Bao recently took a beauty. I’m quite envious, and I’m sure the Great King is curious too.”

The words from the cave made Mo Fan’s brows furrow. He didn’t dare proceed, glancing at Bai Yaoyao, who was also frowning. “Is the Fourth General threatening me?”

“How could I dare threaten Soldier Lai Bao? With your growth, you’re bound to become Black Wind Mountain’s fifth general. Even I would step aside. How could I bully you?”

“I’m tired, Soldier Lai Bao. Please leave!”

“No need to see you out!”

Du Ya’s voice ceased, and the cave fell silent.

Mo Fan stood at the entrance, his expression shifting several times before he snorted and turned to leave.

Bai Yaoyao quickly followed.

As they prepared to descend, two powerful auras descended from the sky.

Mo Fan turned to see Black Wind Mountain’s First General, Jin Jia, and Second General, Bai Yao.

Perhaps due to the distance, the two generals didn’t notice Mo Fan and Bai Yaoyao, heading straight into the Poison Dragon Cave.

Seeing this, Mo Fan grabbed Bai Yaoyao’s hand, quickening his pace.

He had thought Du Ya’s words were a bluff to scare him off, but it seemed the snake had contacted the generals the moment Mo Fan returned to Black Wind Mountain.

This made direct action risky, as it could provoke an attack from Jin Jia and Bai Yao.

Confronting Du Ya in front of them was a foolish gamble Mo Fan wasn’t willing to take.

He had no direct evidence of Du Ya’s collusion with human cultivators, and even if he did, Jin Jia and Bai Yao might not believe him, given Du Ya’s long tenure at Black Wind Mountain.

Moreover, Bai Yaoyao shouldn’t be exposed to the mountain’s higher-ups, lest it cause complications.

These factors led Mo Fan to choose retreat.
