Mo Fan had long sensed this bat demon, but since it excelled at flight, a hasty move would likely fail, so he had held back.
During his earlier clash with the frog demon A-Meng, he had also been wary of this bat demon.
Unfortunately, the creature was too cautious, revealing no weaknesses.
To lure it out, Mo Fan transformed into his true form, shrinking his size several times to dodge the frog demon’s water arrow attack. He landed in the stream, using the water to conceal his traces, and swallowed the frog demon in one go.
Perhaps because both demons suddenly vanished, the bat demon grew restless and flew out to investigate, falling right into Mo Fan’s trap.
“Damn you, I’m Black Bat, a demon of Black Underworld Mountain! My brother is Second General Green Bat of Black Underworld Mountain. You dare touch me?!”
The bat demon, ensnared by Mo Fan’s tongue arrow, was scared out of its wits, flapping its wings desperately to break free.
“Oh, a demon with connections, huh?”
“I can’t stand demons like you who climb the ranks through backdoors, blocking the path of hardworking demons. Killing you would be a blessing for countless others!”
“So stop struggling and die!”
Mo Fan sneered repeatedly.
To him, the demon clan was a vast social system. Lesser demons at the bottom already struggled with scarce cultivation resources, yet demons like Black Bat, backed by powerful figures, hoarded even more.
In a world of limited resources, such demons were essentially feeding on the blood of others, the most deserving of death!
“Damn toad, you’re finished!”
Black Bat roared, spitting out a bead that shot skyward and exploded, forming a massive black bat in the air.
“Hahaha, I’ve alerted my Black Underworld Mountain demons! When they arrive, you’ll be a dead toad!”
“Daring to fight me, Black Bat? Do you even know what level you’re at?!”
Black Bat sneered, demonic aura surging as a golden suit of armour suddenly appeared on its body.
The moment the golden armour emerged, it anchored Black Bat like a mountain, standing firm in the stream. No matter how Mo Fan tugged, it didn’t budge.
“What kind of magic tool is this?!”
Mo Fan’s eyes widened. Seeing his tongue arrow was ineffective, he retracted it.
“Ignorant fool! This is the Mountain Armor, crafted by human forgers. Not only is its defence incredible, but it also carries the power of a mountain. A mere lesser demon like you? Even a peak Ding-rank demon couldn’t scratch me!”
“So just wait for your death!”
Black Bat stood in the water, golden light blazing, unmoved by the rushing stream, looking down at Mo Fan with arrogance, as if lording over him.
“Is it really that powerful?”
Mo Fan’s eyes narrowed. He opened his mouth, and a flying sword shot out like lightning, aiming straight for Black Bat’s head.
Black Bat’s pupils shrank, a flicker of panic in its eyes.
“Clang!”
A metallic clash rang out, sparks flying as the flying sword was repelled, unable to breach the Mountain Armor’s defence.
Seeing this, Black Bat relaxed, its disdain growing stronger.
“Give up!”
“You’ve got some tricks, so you must be a decent demon. Why not submit to Lord Bat?”
“Rest assured, no matter which mountain you’re from, if you submit to me, I’ll ensure your safety in this trial!”
Black Bat’s eyes gleamed, coaxing Mo Fan.
“Alright!”
Mo Fan promptly recalled his flying sword, winked at Black Bat, and then, fully manifesting his spirit form, approached.
“You’re a Ding-rank demon?”
Black Bat was slightly surprised, but its delight grew, grinning, “A Ding-rank is even better. Stand still and don’t move. When my Black Underworld Mountain demons arrive, I’ll explain things. They won’t trouble you!”
Mo Fan, as if he hadn’t heard, kept advancing quickly, smiling, “I’ll come closer. It’s easier to use my divine ability up close.”
“Divine ability?”
Black Bat froze, then growled, “Stop getting closer! Stay where you are!”
“Didn’t you want to take me in?”
“With that little courage, how do you expect me to submit?”
Mo Fan laughed. Now less than ten feet from Black Bat, he looked at the gleaming golden figure and, without hesitation, activated his divine ability.
Divine Ability: Heaven-Swallowing!
As Mo Fan opened his mouth wide, a terrifying suction force enveloped Black Bat, making its pupils shrink and its heart race.
“Damn toad, you’re courting death!”
Black Bat roared, fully activating the Mountain Armor, which erupted with even more powerful runic energy to counter Mo Fan’s divine ability.
Yet, under the suction, Black Bat’s body gradually shrank and was ultimately swallowed into Mo Fan’s mouth.
After devouring Black Bat, Mo Fan panted heavily.
“What a tough one. That Mountain Armor is at least a high-grade magic tool!”
Mo Fan thought to himself. It had seemed easy, but it drained much of his demonic aura, making Black Bat harder to swallow than most Ding-rank demons.
Feeling the surge of demonic aura returning to him, Mo Fan felt much better.
Focusing inward, he saw a pile of items in his inner space, the golden Mountain Armor standing out most prominently.
Mo Fan was secretly thrilled. This fight hadn’t been a loss.
He didn’t linger to examine the armor, instead spitting out two speed talismans, sticking them to his legs, and hurriedly fleeing.
Shortly after Mo Fan left, several figures arrived at the stream where the fight had taken place.
“Black Bat’s aura seems to have vanished…”
“This is bad. Second General will be furious and might take it out on us!”
“Damn it, why didn’t Black Bat hold out longer?!”
The demons chattered, filled with ominous guesses, suspecting Black Bat was likely gone. The thought made their hearts race.
“Quiet down!”
One Ding-rank demon spoke gravely, his face grim as he scanned the group, saying calmly, “Before entering the barrier, Second General Green Bat asked us to look after Black Bat. Now his fate is uncertain, and arguing here won’t help.
Instead, we should find Black Bat. If he’s dead, we avenge him. If he’s alive, we save him!
Only then will Second General not punish us too harshly!”
“Knife Demon’s right. Let’s find that guy first!”
“Anyone with tracking divine abilities?
Don’t hold back now. Use them…”
Soon, a large group of demons chased after Mo Fan’s escape route.
Mo Fan, unaware of this, soon encountered two more demons, both fighting each other fiercely.
Both were formidable, at Ding-rank level.
Mo Fan intended to ignore them, but one suddenly called out, “Is that Brother Lai Bao?!”
“Great! Brother Lai Bao, come help me!”
