Huh?
Mo Fan was momentarily confused, not intending to get involved, but his name had been called out.
He looked at the demon and saw a gaunt old man with a tuft of goatee, currently being beaten rather badly by another demon.
In contrast, the opposing demon was a short spear-thrower.
He called it that because the figure, though small in stature, kept hurling spear-like weapons, keeping the gaunt old man at bay, forcing him to flee repeatedly.
But the old man’s words startled the short demon, who also turned to look at Mo Fan.
Seeing Mo Fan pause, the short demon’s face darkened. Without hesitation, he threw a spear directly at Mo Fan.
Whoosh!
The sound of it cutting through the air made Mo Fan’s brows furrow slightly.
He stood still, waiting until the spear was close before reaching out to grab it.
“Foolish idiot, my demon weapon isn’t so easily caught.”
“You dare grab it with your bare hands? Your life is mine.”
The short demon sneered, thinking this newcomer was a reckless fool, not worth worrying about.
Meanwhile, the gaunt old man took the chance to flee, showing no concern for Mo Fan’s fate.
Whoosh!
Another spear-like demon weapon was thrown, aiming straight for the gaunt old man’s back.
The old man, alarmed, turned hastily, crossing his twin blades to block his chest.
Clang!
A loud crash rang out, and the gaunt old man was sent flying by the immense impact.
At the same time, Mo Fan grabbed the incoming spear’s tip. Crimson armour appeared between his fingers, forming a red gauntlet on his right hand, unmoved by the spear’s force.
Screech!
A piercing sound came from Mo Fan’s hand, sparks flying, yet he didn’t budge an inch.
“Not a bad weapon.”
Once the impact faded, Mo Fan held the spear, which struggled but couldn’t escape his grip.
The short demon finally looked at Mo Fan again, his expression turning grim.
He realised this unassuming bald demon was far more troublesome than he’d thought.
“Brother Laibao, you’re as fierce as ever.”
At that moment, the gaunt old man hurried to Mo Fan’s side, his eyes showing a hint of shock. He pointed at the short demon and said gravely, “That guy’s from Black Cloud Mountain, probably a porcupine demon. He’s refined all his spines into demon weapons, making him quite tricky.”
“Oh.” Mo Fan nodded, then looked at the gaunt old man expressionlessly and asked, “And who are you?”
The old man’s face stiffened, but he laughed. “Brother Laibao, you’re such a noble you forget things easily. I’m Heishan, under the same Third General as you. We even met at the mountain peak before.”
Mo Fan thought it over and realised he had indeed seen this demon.
“Since we’re from the same mountain, how about this: I’ll cover you, and you go kill that porcupine demon. I won’t fight you for his ears.” Mo Fan winked at Heishan.
Heishan froze, then chuckled. “Brother Laibao, you’re quite the joker. My cultivation is shallow, not as fierce as yours. I was just beaten badly by that porcupine demon. If you hadn’t shown up, I’d likely be gravely injured.”
“So, Brother Laibao, you take him on. I’ll cover you.”
“Hah. You dragged me into this fight, and now you’re trying to slip away?”
“Brother Heishan, aren’t you being a bit too cunning?”
Mo Fan sneered. How could he not see through this goat demon’s scheming?
Before Heishan could respond, Mo Fan looked at the frowning porcupine demon and said, “Hey, I’m just passing through. How about we stay out of each other’s way? I’ll leave now, and you two carry on.”
The porcupine demon was stunned, then looked at Mo Fan suspiciously. “Really?”
“Absolutely.”
Mo Fan nodded, but secretly transmitted to the grim-faced Heishan, “I’ll trick him. You fight him later, and I’ll come back to finish him off. Sound good?”
Huh?
Heishan’s expression brightened considerably.
“You mean it?”
“Even if I don’t, do you have a choice?”
Mo Fan’s lips curled, leaving Heishan silent.
“Fine, my life’s in your hands.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Heishan gritted his teeth.
“Relax.”
Mo Fan tossed the spear to Heishan and said to the porcupine demon, “So, what’s your decision?”
“Take on both of us, or continue your fight while I leave?”
“I hope you keep your word, brother.”
The porcupine demon spoke gravely, stepping aside to clear a path.
“Smart choice.”
Mo Fan smiled, walking towards him. As they drew close, both tensed, but Mo Fan soon passed by, leaving the area.
“Kill.”
Once Mo Fan left, Heishan and the porcupine demon clashed again.
But Heishan, already no match, quickly fell behind, taking several hits and bleeding from multiple wounds. On the verge of collapse, he roared skyward, “Laibao, you damned dog, you tricked me, didn’t you?”
Splat!
At that moment, another spear shot forward, piercing Heishan’s chest and pinning him to the ground.
“Seems Black Wind Mountain is even messier than I thought, full of unreliable demons.”
The porcupine demon approached slowly, yanking the spear from Heishan’s chest, causing him to groan as blood gushed from his mouth.
Heishan had no strength left to fight, only glaring at the porcupine demon with hatred.
“Remember, the one who killed you is…”
Before the porcupine demon could finish, his body trembled. Looking down, he saw a crimson, spear-like object piercing his chest. A massive force dragged him backwards.
In an instant, Mo Fan swallowed the porcupine demon whole.
“Black Wind Mountain may have plenty of unreliable demons, but this lord isn’t one of them. Yet you dared insult my demon character. No choice but to kill you.”
Mo Fan murmured, feeling the surge of demonic aura feeding back into him. His eyes grew brighter as he sensed a barrier as thin as paper.
This long-lost sensation thrilled him, and he turned his gaze to Heishan.
“Brother… Brother Laibao, you’re finally here. Quick… save me.”
Heishan’s eyes were dim, but filled with joy, looking at Mo Fan as if he were his last hope.
“I recall you said you’d entrust your life to me.”
“Now I’m here to fulfil that promise.”
Mo Fan grinned, his words making Heishan’s pupils dilate in terror.
“From the moment you schemed against me, you were already dead.”
With that, Mo Fan opened his mouth, unleashing the Heaven-Devouring Divine Ability, swallowing Heishan’s entire body into his inner space.
An invisible, terrifying force swept over, and Heishan vanished without a trace amid screams.
At the same time, a massive surge of demonic aura emerged within Mo Fan.
The feedback began.
The thin barrier was indeed breached like paper, elevating Mo Fan’s aura to new heights.
Buzz!
Mo Fan opened his eyes, ignoring the demons slowly approaching around him, a spark of joy in his gaze.
He had finally broken through to the peak of the Demon Ding realm.
