Though these small demons had lingered on Black Wind Mountain for many years, their opportunities were ultimately too limited. They could not find enough spiritual herbs for cultivation, barely scraping together enough to pay the “protection fees” set by the Demon Soldier lords, living muddled lives.
As a result, these demons became the old, weak, sick, and disabled batch facing elimination on Black Wind Mountain.
Yet, because they had survived long enough, despite their low cultivation, their survival skills were not weak.
When Black Wind Mountain was ambushed by human cultivators, they hid deeply, avoiding immediate elimination and becoming the last survivors.
Even so, these demons had not refined a single storage pouch. Either they failed to comprehend demonic qi, or no demon was willing to teach them the method to refine one.
Now, Mo Fan, at the cost of his own cultivation foundation, granted them a certain fortune. At the very least, each demon now possessed demonic qi.
This naturally made the demons deeply grateful.
“That was the first opportunity. Now, this king grants you a second one!”
“Red Eye, show these small demons how to refine a storage pouch!”
Looking at the visibly more spirited old, weak, sick, and disabled demons, Mo Fan felt somewhat relieved.
Damaging one’s foundation was a taboo for demon cultivators, as their cultivation was already difficult. No great demon would willingly expend their demonic essence to boost small demons.
But Mo Fan was different. With his Heaven-Devouring Divine Ability, he had no such concerns—just devour a few more demons, and he’d be fine.
He believed that if these small demons could truly grow and serve him, it would be worth it.
After all, Black Wind Mountain was vast, and he did not want to handle everything himself. Building a loyal group of small demons was necessary.
Red Eye responded and began teaching the demons how to refine a storage pouch.
This simplest demonic technique took Red Eye nearly half a day to teach, almost exhausting him. He cursed angrily.
“What a bunch of useless fools! Taking so long to learn such a simple demonic technique. It’s only because the Great King is merciful. If it were me, I’d skin you lot and make you into a feast!”
Looking at the demons refining storage pouches, Mo Fan’s lips curved slightly, and he granted a third opportunity.
“You have one day to collect all the corpses on Black Wind Mountain. You don’t need to hand them over; keep them to fill your bellies!”
“Thank you, Great King!!”
At the mention of food, the demons’ eyes turned red with excitement.
Without storage pouches before, they could not collect corpses. Otherwise, Black Wind Mountain’s corpses would have been cleared out long ago.
Mo Fan seized on this quirky mindset, using it to make the demons actively clean up the corpses while earning their gratitude. Why not?
Watching the demons eagerly head towards the corpses, Mo Fan turned to He Feifei and said, “Now, on Black Wind Mountain, only you and I are at the Demon General realm. Since I’ve taken the Great King’s position, I’ll have to trouble you to be my Great General. How about it?”
“Of course! I only broke through to Demon General thanks to you, Laibao!”
He Feifei smiled, her gaze falling on the corpses in the square, feeling a bit emotional. She took a deep breath and said calmly, “Honestly, I still feel like I’m dreaming!”
“Before the Three Mountains Trial, I was just a minor Demon Soldier, insignificant on Black Wind Mountain.”
“But now, in just two days, I’ve not only broken through to Demon General but also become the Great General of Black Wind Mountain. Do you know how intense this sudden turnaround feels?”
Looking at He Feifei’s incredulous expression, Mo Fan just smiled.
“Don’t worry, this is only the beginning!”
“Our goal isn’t just the Three Mountains but the Holy Land all demon cultivators yearn for!!”
Mo Fan’s words stunned He Feifei. She had not thought so far, only feeling that Laibao’s ambitions were growing. “What’s your next step?”
“Next…” Mo Fan’s eyes flickered, his words pausing before he grinned. “Set rules, enforce discipline!”
“Setting rules, I get, but what’s enforcing discipline mean?”
He Feifei looked at Mo Fan with some confusion.
“You’ll see later.”
Mo Fan smiled but did not elaborate. Though He Feifei felt a bit frustrated, she seemed to understand his character and stopped asking. A pair of wings manifested behind her, and she said to Mo Fan, “In that case, I’ll head back to my cave. I’ll come back tomorrow morning.”
“Good!”
Mo Fan nodded, watching He Feifei leave. He then entrusted the cleanup of Black Wind Mountain to Red Eye and Zha Zha to oversee, while he rode a demonic wind, soaring through the clouds, and left the mountain peak.
Soon after, he returned to Spring Pool Cave.
However, in the cave, he saw several demon corpses—a horse demon and a rat demon.
Having been dead for too long, they had reverted to their true forms, making it hard for Mo Fan to recognise their spiritual forms.
The only certainty was that these demons were not his subordinates, yet they died here.
This showed how intense the human attack had been over the past two days.
Ignoring the corpses on the ground, Mo Fan first scouted the cave. Finding no other demons, he went to the back door and jumped into the spring pool.
Soon, the protruding stone wall appeared before him, but the items on it were gone.
Mo Fan frowned slightly but did not panic, understanding that Bai Yaoyao and Big Head had likely taken the seven-coloured dragon loaches, probably escaping through the spring pool into the Black Water River.
He did not pursue immediately, instead returning to the cave.
“The Black Water River is too vast. It’d be hard to find them quickly. More importantly, after the clash with that black fish demon, entering the river now might cause trouble. It’s better to stay on Black Wind Mountain and wait for them to come to me.”
Mo Fan murmured to himself, believing the news of Black Wind Mountain’s new Great King would soon spread to nearby demon territories.
The Black Water River was only a hundred li from Black Wind Mountain, and with the earlier conflict, Mo Fan figured it wouldn’t take long for demons to learn of the situation here.
Realising this, Mo Fan calmed down.
He was not worried about Bai Yaoyao and Big Head fleeing. Bai Yaoyao had no reason to. If she wanted to escape, she wouldn’t have followed him in the first place.
In Bai Yaoyao’s words, it was all part of a deal with the White Tiger Holy King.
Initially, Mo Fan did not fully understand the deal, but after the White Tiger Holy King revealed the truth, he suddenly understood.
Persecuted by the Su family of Three Saints Island, Bai Yaoyao fled to the Hundred Thousand Mountains, seeking the White Tiger Holy King’s help. But instead of aiding her directly, the White Tiger Holy King had her wait at the Spirit Beast Court in the Broken Temple Market, where she met Mo Fan.
In a way, Bai Yaoyao was deliberately placed by Mo Fan’s side by the White Tiger Holy King, perhaps to aid Mo Fan’s growth, while also knowing Mo Fan’s extraordinary bloodline, hoping to use his power to help Bai Yaoyao seek revenge.
The relationship between Bai Yaoyao and Mo Fan was peculiar, one of mutual benefit.
Thus, Mo Fan believed Bai Yaoyao had no reason to betray and flee, especially after the battle with the White Tiger Holy King.
As for Big Head…
Mo Fan figured even with ten times the courage, he wouldn’t dare betray him, given the poison demon weapon still in his body.
With these concerns eased, Mo Fan began tallying his spoils from this venture.
