Bai Xue’s enthusiasm was almost too much for Mo Fan to handle.
Her appearance and figure were undeniably stunning, matched by only a few among the many women Mo Fan had encountered.
Who could resist such a beautiful demoness throwing herself at him?
But Mo Fan had his principles and boundaries. In his view, Red Eyes had long been smitten with Bai Xue, and Mo Fan couldn’t be the demon to steal his love, especially given Red Eyes’ loyalty to him.
So, Mo Fan could only flee in embarrassment.
Returning to his cave abode, he spotted two familiar figures standing inside, seemingly waiting for him.
It was Bai Yaoyao and Big Head, who had been missing.
“Master!”
Big Head rushed forward, respectfully calling out. Bai Yaoyao nodded at Mo Fan.
“You’re finally back. If you’d taken any longer, this king would’ve sent troops to attack the water demons of Blackwater River!”
Mo Fan smiled, but sensing the chaotic auras on the two demons, he frowned, “Are you injured?”
“Just minor injuries, nothing serious. They don’t affect our core. But you, have you really become the Demon King of Blackwind Mountain?” Bai Yaoyao looked at Mo Fan with astonishment, a glint in her eyes.
“Yes, but only in name. In terms of cultivation, I’m still just a Demon General.”
Mo Fan nodded. His self-proclamation as king had already spread, so it wasn’t surprising Bai Yaoyao knew.
“What? Master, you’ve already broken through to Demon General?”
Big Head was shocked. How long had it been, and this toad demon had reached Demon General?
That was way too fast!
“You can tell, and it seems you’re not just at the early stage of Demon General,” Bai Yaoyao noted, unsurprised.
“By the way, does the spring pool below lead to Blackwater River?” Mo Fan asked.
He’d only speculated that the pool connected to Blackwater River, confident in his guess but wanting confirmation from the two demons.
“Correct. This time, we entered Blackwater River through that hidden river,” Bai Yaoyao confirmed, continuing, “Not only that, we uncovered some secrets about Blackwater River and got a sense of its power structure.”
“Oh?”
Mo Fan’s interest was piqued.
Though he’d been to Blackwater River, his visit was brief, leaving no time to explore. The river was vast, crescent-shaped, dozens of miles wide, and hundreds of miles long.
From the map he’d studied, Blackwater River nearly touched the three major demon mountains, showing its immense scope.
“Blackwater River is divided into six domains, each ruled by a Demon King. There are over a hundred Demon Generals, and countless lesser demons and demon soldiers, making it a massive demon clan,” Bai Yaoyao explained, glancing at Mo Fan with a teasing smile, “Someone just mentioned sending troops to attack Blackwater River. I was quite touched. When is our Toad King setting out? Yaoyao will cheer you on.”
Mo Fan was speechless, rolling his eyes, “Touched? You just want to see me march to my death!”
Big Head chuckled at their banter but froze when both demons turned to him. He quickly wiped the smile off his face, looking as if everyone owed him a fortune in spirit stones.
“By the way, you haven’t explained how you got those injuries,” Mo Fan said, changing the subject.
“It’s a long story, but first, I have two pieces of news,” Bai Yaoyao replied.
“What news?”
Mo Fan looked at her curiously.
“Remember those seven-colored dragon loaches?”
With a wave of her hand, a cyan egg appeared before Bai Yaoyao.
It wasn’t quite an egg, as Mo Fan noticed its smooth, glossy surface, resembling a glass stone, about the size of a human head.
“What’s this?”
Mo Fan frowned, unsure how this glass egg related to the dragon loaches.
“Master, this is the seven-colored dragon loach!” Big Head finally spoke up.
This was the seven-colored dragon loach?
Mo Fan’s eyes widened, skeptical. Were these two trying to fool him by eating the loaches and passing off a fake egg?
His frown deepened, his expression souring.
“You don’t think we ate those little loaches and faked an egg to trick you, do you?” Bai Yaoyao laughed, reading his thoughts.
Mo Fan’s eyes shifted, “Is this really the seven-colored dragon loach?”
“Why did it turn into an egg?”
“Master, it’s truly formed from those loaches!”
“To be precise, the loaches devoured each other, forming a sphere. Then the sphere secreted strange mucus, which hardened into this egg,” Big Head explained, scratching his head.
“That bizarre?”
Mo Fan looked at them skeptically, finding it hard to believe.
He could accept that the loaches might evolve, but a fish turning into an egg? That sounded like nonsense to anyone.
“Place your hand on the egg and feel it,” Bai Yaoyao said with a smile, seeing his doubt.
Mo Fan hesitantly touched the egg. The moment he did, he sensed an intense life force, along with potent demonic and spiritual energy radiating from it.
“This…”
“This egg is really formed from the seven-colored dragon loach?!”
Mo Fan was shocked, starting to believe.
The life force in the egg couldn’t be faked.
Seeing both demons nod, Mo Fan grew excited, “The seven-colored dragon loach is equivalent to a high-grade yellow-tier spirit herb. This egg must be comparable to a mysterious-tier spirit herb!”
“It’s perfect for helping this king break through my current realm!”
With that, Mo Fan opened his mouth to swallow the egg, only to be stopped by Bai Yaoyao.
“What are you doing?!”
Bai Yaoyao stared at him in shock.
“Uh, what’s wrong? I’m eating the egg, of course!”
Mo Fan was puzzled, seeing her clutch the cyan-shelled egg tightly.
Bai Yaoyao rolled her eyes, her face twitching, “Toad King, do you even know what this is, and you’re about to swallow it?”
Mo Fan said seriously, “Can you stop adding ‘Toad’ when you call me King?”
Bai Yaoyao ignored him, continuing, “This egg is extraordinary. I suspect the loach’s evolution is an atavistic mutation. If it succeeds, it could become a powerful being with a formidable bloodline!”
“Such a treasure, and you want to eat it?”
“Oh, and how does that stop me from eating it?”
“…”
