Mo Fan’s words made the Ying Ying Monster tilt its head and stare at him for a while before it said in a childish voice, “I’m Ying Ying Monster, and you’re King Mo Fan?”
Mo Fan was speechless. After a moment’s thought, he smiled, “You can just call me King, no need to add my name.”
“Alright, Daddy!” The sudden term made Mo Fan’s face twitch. He frowned, “Who taught you that word?”
In his view, since the Ying Ying Monster had just gained sentience, it shouldn’t know the term “Daddy.”
Yet, the little creature had blurted it out, clearly understanding its meaning.
This puzzled Mo Fan greatly.
“No one taught me. It’s like I have this term in my memory,” the Ying Ying Monster said, rubbing its little head against Mo Fan’s cheek.
“Do you know what ‘Daddy’ means? I’m not your daddy, so don’t call me that randomly,” Mo Fan said, frowning, feeling somewhat exasperated.
Had he just gained a demon son out of nowhere?
“I know. Daddy is someone who makes me feel warm. You make me feel warm, so you’re my daddy!” The Ying Ying Monster looked up at Mo Fan’s eyes, speaking in its childish voice.
Mo Fan was at a loss for words. He tried correcting it for a while but couldn’t sway the little creature, eventually giving up.
Through their conversation, he noticed the Ying Ying Monster’s astonishing learning ability, quickly mastering language skills.
Mo Fan also discovered that, despite lacking wings, it could ride the wind and fly without relying on demonic aura, reminding him of legendary dragons.
But he quickly shook his head. This creature didn’t resemble a dragon in the slightest.
After all, there were likely no two-legged dragons in this world, let alone one only as long as a forearm.
“Bai Yaoyao was once a Demon King. Perhaps she knows what this creature is?” Mo Fan thought suddenly. He decided to end his seclusion and seek out Bai Yaoyao to identify the Ying Ying Monster’s species.
But when he arrived at the Spring Pool Cave, he found no trace of Bai Yaoyao.
Not only was Bai Yaoyao absent, but Big Head, Erha, and the other demons were also nowhere to be seen.
“Hey! King, you’re out of seclusion?” As Mo Fan stepped out of the cave, he saw Bai Xue approaching, her white dress fluttering.
Seeing Mo Fan emerge, Bai Xue was visibly excited, her cheeks flushing as she hurried to him, looking at him with joy.
“Ahem…” Seeing Bai Xue’s eager gaze, Mo Fan coughed awkwardly twice before asking, “Why are you the only one here? Where did they go?”
“King, they’ve all gone to Flat Peak to watch the wager fight!” Bai Xue explained. “I don’t like watching violent scenes, and I was worried about your safety, so I stayed behind to guard you.”
Bai Xue smiled, her words carrying a hint of seeking praise.
“You’ve worked hard,” Mo Fan said, touching his nose before asking, “What’s this wager fight about?”
“King, have you forgotten? You arranged for the half-demon Little Yellow to fight Sparrow Chirp,” Bai Xue explained.
“Wasn’t that set for a month later? Why has it started so soon?” Mo Fan asked, surprised.
“They say Little Yellow initiated the challenge early, claiming he’s confident he can beat Chirp now,” Bai Xue replied.
“I see!” Mo Fan nodded, a spark of interest rising in him. He said, “In that case, I’ll go take a look.”
“King, you’ve just come out of seclusion. You must be exhausted. Why not stay? I’ll heat a pot of water for you to warm up,” Bai Xue said eagerly.
Her bold words made Mo Fan’s heart race. Glancing at Bai Xue, clad in a thin white gauze dress, he felt a surge of heat.
“Daddy, your heart is beating so fast!” At that moment, a voice sounded by Mo Fan’s ear. The Ying Ying Monster poked its little head out from his collar, curiously staring at the stunned Bai Xue. “Is it because of this female demon?”
Mo Fan was speechless, feeling even more embarrassed.
As he struggled for words, Bai Xue’s scarlet eyes widened, staring in disbelief at the golden head poking out from Mo Fan’s arms. She repeated, “Daddy?”
“Pah! Shameless!” The Ying Ying Monster glared warily at the female demon, thinking she was trying to steal its daddy. “He’s my daddy, not yours!”
“Ahem… misunderstanding!” Mo Fan quickly interrupted, awkwardly addressing the thunderstruck Bai Xue. “No need to warm up. I’m heading to Flat Peak first!”
With that, he rode a surge of thick demonic aura into the sky, vanishing from Bai Xue’s sight.
“Daddy…” Bai Xue muttered, then exploded, “That damned heartless jerk! Which demoness did he have a kid with?!”
Furious, her body trembled with rage.
Since joining Black Wind Mountain, Bai Xue had been taken by Zhu Xianfeng as a demon concubine. After Zhu Xianfeng’s death, she assumed she’d remain a concubine, just serving a new demon lord.
Though Mo Fan had never stated it outright, Bai Xue always felt he had a place for her in his heart. She didn’t believe any demon could resist her beauty.
Initially, despite He Feifei’s strong competition, Bai Xue remained confident.
In her view, He Feifei was a combat-oriented demon, perhaps stronger in a fight, but when it came to serving a demon king, she couldn’t compare.
However, Bai Yaoyao’s arrival sparked a real sense of crisis in Bai Xue.
Bai Yaoyao was too perfect, with profound cultivation, great strength, and beauty that rivalled, if not surpassed, her own.
Because of this, Bai Xue chose not to join the crowd at Flat Peak. Instead, she persuaded Mo Fan’s trusted demons to leave, staying behind to guard him.
Guarding was just an excuse to make a good impression and earn some merit.
Upon seeing Mo Fan emerge, she mustered her courage, ready to offer herself fully.
But she never expected Mo Fan to suddenly have a demon offspring!
This was unacceptable to Bai Xue, leaving her dishevelled in the wind…
Mo Fan was unaware of Bai Xue’s thoughts, though even if he knew, he’d likely just feel exasperated.
Riding the clouds, he soon arrived at Flat Peak, where two figures were fiercely clashing on the level ground.
Around them, a large group of demons cheered excitedly, some bold ones even setting up a betting pool.
“Come, come, place your bets!” a demon shouted. “Rabbit Lord is running the pool! Bet on Lord Chirp to win, one-to-two odds! Bet on the dog demon to win, one-to-three odds! Once you bet, no takebacks! Minimum one low-grade spirit stone! A common spirit herb counts as five low-grade spirit stones, a low-grade magical artefact or basic demon weapon counts as twenty. If you’ve got nothing, go play in the dirt!”
