This was a blood-red world, at least in Mo Fan’s eyes at this moment.
The thick stench of blood in the air made Mo Fan frown slightly. He turned and saw another stone door, its frame engraved with intricate, arcane runes.
Then, Mo Fan surveyed the world before him, finding the space vast, filled with scattered white bones, enormous broken artifacts, and blood-red stalagmites as large as hills, preventing him from seeing its entirety at a glance.
Looking up, Mo Fan saw the ceiling was also blood-red.
This was an underground space!
That was Mo Fan’s conclusion after observing.
Confirming no immediate danger, Mo Fan released his demonic energy and soared into the air.
As he ascended, his view widened, and he was shocked to find this place was nearly a dead land, utterly lifeless. Not to mention other creatures, he didn’t even see a single insect.
He also noticed massive skeletons.
Some were humanoid, others beast-like, all as large as mountains!
Of course, the space was mostly filled with ordinary-sized bones.
There were also many broken artifacts.
In the distance, Mo Fan spotted a massive, broken bell, as large as a mountain.
He flew towards it, finding the bell pitch-black, its material indiscernible. After a brief hesitation, Mo Fan landed on it.
But the moment his feet touched the bell, it collapsed into a pile of rust.
“This…”
Mo Fan was startled, then tried touching other artifacts, only to find they all crumbled without exception.
“These artifacts are too decayed to be touched, or they collapse instantly!”
“What kind of power could reduce such extraordinary artifacts to this state?”
Mo Fan felt a chill, not believing this was caused by time alone.
Ordinary artifacts might vanish under time’s erosion, but these artifacts were clearly extraordinary, beyond mere magical treasures. For time to erode them, it would likely take tens of thousands of years!
But if it were tens of thousands of years, this place shouldn’t still reek so strongly of blood!
Where was the Monkey King hiding?
Pondering this, Mo Fan soared into the sky again, flying into the distance.
Soon, he spotted the Monkey King’s figure atop a mountain!
But as Mo Fan drew closer, he was horrified to realize the so-called mountain was a blood-drenched skull!
The skull was so decayed that white bones were visible in many places, making it impossible for Mo Fan to discern its original appearance or gender.
At this moment, the Monkey King sat cross-legged on the skull.
Perhaps sensing Mo Fan’s gaze, the Monkey King opened his eyes, staring at him coldly.
“You shouldn’t have entered this place, nor disturbed my seclusion. No matter who you are, you will die here!”
The Monkey King spoke gravely, his tone hostile, not hiding his killing intent.
Mo Fan remained calm, flying closer to the skull-mountain, glancing at the pile of white bones around it. He noticed each bone had a tailbone.
“Is it because I discovered your secret?”
Mo Fan grinned lightly. Seeing the Monkey King’s grim expression, he knew he had guessed correctly and continued, “Using your own clan’s lives to boost your cultivation, such demonic acts are intolerable even among demons, right?”
“What would your clan think if they knew about this?”
“You know nothing!”
“I am the Monkey King. The entire monkey clan’s demons were cultivated by me!
Without me, how could they shed their mortal forms, gain sentience, and become demons?
Thus, I have the right to control their fates!”
The Monkey King spoke gravely.
“No, you’re wrong. Your title as Monkey King isn’t yours alone, it was granted by your clan!
The moment you decided to harm them, you betrayed the entire monkey clan and will surely be abandoned by them!”
Mo Fan spoke calmly, his gaze icy.
He had been wondering how to make the monkey clan submit, but now the Monkey King had provided him with the perfect reason.
However, this meant he had to kill the Monkey King!
“Could this Monkey King be the key to my breakthrough?”
Mo Fan gradually understood, demonic energy surging around him, forming a black mist that enveloped him, his killing intent unconcealed!
“What are you?”
“A mere demon general dares to judge this king. Are you tired of living?!”
The Monkey King sneered, finding it somewhat laughable.
In his eyes, though Mo Fan had some strength, he was just a lowly demon general. How dare he challenge him?
He was a demon king!
“Kill!”
Words were useless. Mo Fan didn’t continue the banter, choosing to strike first. He opened his mouth, and a flying sword shot out!
“Swish!”
The sound of breaking air rang out as the sword turned into a golden streak, crossing dozens of meters in an instant, aiming for the Monkey King’s neck!
“Hey!”
The Monkey King grinned ferociously, standing motionless. He stomped on the skull-mountain, and a red crystal wall rose from the ground, like a gate shielding his entire body.
“Clang!”
Sparks flew as the flying sword was blocked instantly!
Boom!
The next moment, the crystal wall shattered, and the Monkey King’s furry hand reached out. Red crystals formed from his fingertips, covering his entire right arm in an instant, then firmly grasped the flying sword!
“What?!”
Mo Fan’s heart jolted. He immediately channeled demonic energy, trying to free the sword from the Monkey King’s grasp.
“A demon cultivator refining human magical treasures, neither fish nor fowl, deserves death!”
The Monkey King sneered, his left hand reaching out, also covered in red crystals forming an arm guard. Then, he rubbed his hands together.
As he did, Mo Fan’s expression soured.
He had lost his connection to the flying sword!
When the Monkey King stopped, the high-grade metal flying sword was twisted into a pretzel, casually tossed aside.
“Kid, that’s not all you’ve got, is it?”
“If so, you’re too disappointing for this king!”
The Monkey King cracked his neck, then stomped the ground. Red crystals began forming on his body, soon coalescing into majestic armor, nearly doubling his small frame in size!
Mo Fan looked closely, and where was the Monkey King’s small stature now?
In terms of size, he was a head taller than Mo Fan!
“What kind of divine power is this?”
Mo Fan frowned, sensing the crystal was likely a divine power of the Monkey King, seemingly with formidable defense!
At that moment, the Monkey King’s body flickered and vanished from the spot.
Mo Fan’s pupils shrank, instinctively diving towards the ground!
He knew his cultivation was far inferior, meaning he had no advantage in speed. Fighting in the air would put him at too great a disadvantage.
On the ground, however, he had his Earth Escape divine power, giving him an innate edge!
But before Mo Fan could land, a gust of wind hit his face!
He only caught a glimpse of a black shadow before his body was sent flying like a cannonball by a kick from the Monkey King!
“Boom!”
The roar echoed through the blood-red space. Mo Fan crashed through several blood-red stalagmites before hitting the ground.
“Cough, cough… such immense power…”
“Is this the power of a demon king?”
In a blood-red mud pit, Mo Fan coughed violently, demonic energy surging. He stood upright, feeling excruciating pain in his organs and waist, as if bones had been snapped.
“Divine power, Regeneration!”
Mo Fan took a deep breath, burning his inner spiritual energy to aid his regenerative power.
“Crack, crack, crack…”
With the sound of bones snapping, Mo Fan’s hunched body straightened, a warm sensation spreading through him, erasing all pain.
All his injuries were fully healed in that moment!
“Again!!”
Mo Fan grinned, roaring into the sky, feeling his condition was better than ever!
