Heavenly Fire is hard to find, gentle fire is difficult to cultivate, but Earth Fire is relatively easier to locate.
The Hundred Thousand Mountains are filled with various peaks and ridges, many of which are scorching hot regions.
After heated discussions among the demons, Mo Fan finally set his sights on a mountain over two thousand miles west of Black Wind Mountain.
The mountain, called Red Fire Peak, was a large peak not far from Phoenix Cry Mountain.
White Elephant informed Mo Fan that beneath Red Fire Peak lay a natural Earth Fire vein, making the area far hotter than its surroundings.
Due to its unique environment, Red Fire Peak was a forbidden zone for most demon cultivators, though some fire-based demons and spirits cultivated there.
It was said that a powerful Demon King skilled in fire techniques resided on Red Fire Peak.
Thus, Red Fire Peak was somewhat renowned in the Phoenix Cry Mountain demon territory.
“A demon cultivator skilled in fire techniques?” Mo Fan was surprised and asked, “Don’t demons fear fire techniques?”
“Not exactly. What we demons fear isn’t fire techniques but the True Fire of the Great Sun. While fire technique demons may be rare in these three mountains, in the depths of the Hundred Thousand Mountains, there are quite a few skilled in fire. The most formidable is the Fire Phoenix Saint King of Phoenix Cry Mountain. Additionally, some spirits born from Earth Fire are naturally adept at fire techniques,” White Elephant explained.
“I see,” Mo Fan nodded, then made his decision. “In that case, I’ll head to Red Fire Peak. It’ll take a few months at least, a year at most. During this time, I’ll trouble you all to look after Black Wind Mountain. Here are some spirit stones for you to manage your camps.”
Seeing Mo Fan distribute a large number of spirit stones, the demon subordinates were thrilled. Under his guidance, they had long since learned the value of spirit stones, far beyond their former understanding.
The Broken Temple Market was no longer a secret, and some demons occasionally ventured there for leisure.
“My King, rest assured. Focus on your cultivation. We’ll guard Black Wind Mountain well,” the demons promised joyfully, already planning their next trip to the market.
“If anything tricky comes up, consult Bai Yaoyao. In emergencies, you may act without my direct orders and seek help from the generals in the General Hall,” Mo Fan instructed after some thought.
He then visited the General Hall and Bai Yaoyao’s seclusion site to make arrangements before leaving Black Wind Mountain with Er Ha and White Snow.
Initially, he hadn’t planned to bring these two burdens, but Er Ha clung to him, insisting on protecting his king, while White Snow looked at him tearfully, claiming a female demon was needed to attend him on the journey.
Unable to refuse, Mo Fan understood they were bored from staying at Black Wind Mountain and wanted to venture out for a change. So, he let them follow.
In Mo Fan’s view, this trip was mainly for secluded cultivation, and having two subordinates wouldn’t hurt. They could run errands, and he’d have companions to chat with, making the journey less dull.
Thus, the three demons set off, riding clouds and quickly leaving Black Wind Mountain’s territory. When passing over Black Water River, to avoid trouble, Mo Fan deliberately flew higher, skimming through the clouds.
As they crossed the river, Mo Fan heard sounds of fighting below. Looking down, he saw a bare-chested, black-robed burly demon being besieged by a group of shrimp soldiers and crab generals.
“This demon is brutal. After killing those water demons, he’s eating them in front of their companions,” White Snow exclaimed, shocked by the black-robed demon’s savagery.
Her words made Mo Fan instinctively touch his nose.
“Brutal? Those water demons tried to kill him and got counter-killed. They deserved it,” Er Ha scoffed, glancing at Mo Fan’s back with a grin. “If we’re talking brutal, few in the Hundred Thousand Mountains can match our king. He’s known as the Demon Eater. Even now, the lesser demons on our mountain privately call him the Black Wind Old Demon.”
“Watch your mouth,” Mo Fan shot back, glaring at Er Ha, while White Snow giggled beside him.
Mo Fan didn’t rush to leave. Instead, he lowered his demon cloud slightly, calmly observing the scene below.
He noticed the black-robed demon was indeed formidable, with a cultivation level at the Demon General stage.
Most notably, the demon’s combat skills were exceptional, standing out even among Black Wind Mountain’s fighters.
Mo Fan’s interest was piqued, and he felt a desire to recruit talent.
Black Wind Mountain was strong, but it still fell short of his expectations.
Recruiting such a skilled Demon General would be a boon.
The battle below ended quickly. The black-robed demon killed over a dozen shrimp soldiers and crab generals, then stored their corpses in a sack.
Suddenly, ripples formed on the river’s surface near the bank, and a whirlpool slowly emerged.
“Bold rogue demon, daring to kill my shrimp domain’s kin,” a furious voice roared from the whirlpool, followed by a surge of demonic energy that made Mo Fan narrow his eyes.
Mid-stage Demon General? Mo Fan sensed the water demon’s cultivation and found it intriguing.
The black-robed demon on the bank was only an early-stage Demon General, so Mo Fan was curious about his next move.
Fight or flee?
As Mo Fan pondered, a silver-armoured demon general with a pointed hat emerged from the whirlpool, holding a silver great scissors, staring coldly at the black-robed demon.
“Hey, watch my temper,” the black-robed demon roared. “Where’d this shrimp demon come from, talking to this general like that? Want to end up as my meal?”
He charged forward, but the water demon seemed to sense something, looking up and meeting Mo Fan’s gaze.
The demon general shuddered, muttered curses, and dove back into the river’s whirlpool, vanishing without a trace.
Mo Fan was speechless, thinking, “Did he recognise me?”
The black-robed demon on the bank was also surprised, frowning as he muttered, “Thought a real fighter showed up. Turns out the river demons are just spineless cowards.”
He then looked up at Mo Fan’s group, frowning and shouting, “You’ve watched the show long enough. Not leaving?”
“Just one question, then I’ll go,” Mo Fan said with a smile.
“What?” the black-robed demon asked, still frowning.
“I’m a Demon King of the Demon Spirit Mountain Range. Would you follow me?” Mo Fan asked, smiling at him.
“Hey, my temper,” the black-robed demon scoffed. “I’m a Demon General of the Demon Spirit Mountain Range myself. You’re just a Demon General like me. How dare you talk so big?”
With a cold snort, his demonic energy surged, and he rose on a cloud to Mo Fan’s level, glaring. “What, you want to fight too?”
“No, I have things to do today. If you won’t follow me, so be it,” Mo Fan said, waving dismissively. As he turned to leave, he impulsively asked, “By the way, do you have any divine abilities?”
