Xiao Huang was appointed by Mo Fan as the commander of the Demon Network, responsible for Black Wind Mountain’s entire intelligence system.
Thus, most of the time, Xiao Huang wasn’t at Black Wind Mountain. Relying on his half-demon identity, he roamed outside, secretly expanding the Demon Network’s influence.
So, upon hearing of Xiao Huang’s return, Mo Fan was quite pleased.
He was eager to see how far the Demon Network had expanded. He reckoned Xiao Huang’s spirit stones were likely nearly depleted, and it was time to replenish him with a substantial amount.
This made Mo Fan sigh inwardly. An intelligence system was indeed a costly endeavour.
Whether in his previous life or here, it seemed that obtaining more intelligence always required greater expenditure.
When Mo Fan reached the mountaintop, a flying sword sliced through the air.
Standing on the sword was a figure with yellow hair fluttering in the wind, exuding a carefree aura.
The demon cultivator landed not far from Mo Fan, drawing envious gazes from the surrounding demons.
“Xiao Huang pays respects to the Great King!”
Xiao Huang sheathed his flying sword and bowed respectfully to Mo Fan.
“Haha, no need for formalities!”
“I didn’t expect that after just over a year, your sword-riding technique has become so refined!”
Mo Fan smiled, a glint in his eyes. He could tell that Xiao Huang was far stronger than he had been a year and a half ago, having broken through to the early Demon General stage at an astonishing speed.
However, Mo Fan didn’t pry, understanding it might be related to Xiao Huang’s mother.
“Did you come specifically to find me?” Mo Fan asked.
Xiao Huang nodded, glanced at the surrounding small demons, and then transmitted his voice directly to Mo Fan’s ear, “Great King, our Demon Network members now cover the entire Demon Spirit Mountain Range. Even Black Underworld Mountain and Black Cloud Mountain are under our surveillance!”
“Oh?”
Mo Fan’s eyes lit up. He glanced at the nearby demons and said, “Go have some fun, you lot! This king needs to have a good chat with Xiao Huang!”
“Yes!”
The demons dispersed immediately upon hearing this.
Seeing this, Xiao Huang continued, “Great King, I’ve identified the demon general who attacked our Black Wind Mountain!”
A flicker of surprise crossed Mo Fan’s eyes, and he smiled, “Tell me about it.”
“That demon general is named Lei Yuchuan, from Wind-Thunder Mountain in the Phoenix Cry Mountain Demon Domain. He comes from an extremely powerful family, rumoured to have a Demon Ancestor among them!” Xiao Huang said gravely.
Mo Fan nodded, already aware of this information. But the fact that Xiao Huang knew it too suggested that the Demon Network’s influence was beginning to extend toward the Phoenix Cry Mountain Demon Domain.
This was good news for Mo Fan.
“Also, according to our Demon Network’s investigations, a few days ago, Lei Yuchuan visited Black Underworld Mountain. That night, they held a grand feast, likely to welcome him.”
“And just yesterday, Lei Yuchuan went to Black Cloud Mountain and hasn’t emerged since,” Xiao Huang continued.
“Are you suggesting that Lei Yuchuan might ally with Black Underworld Mountain and Black Cloud Mountain to attack our Black Wind Mountain?”
Mo Fan chuckled, and Xiao Huang nodded, saying, “Great King, based on our Demon Network’s findings, the demon kings of Black Underworld Mountain and Black Cloud Mountain, though heavily injured in the last Demon Spirit Valley battle, have likely recovered most of their strength. Their cultivation is probably at the mid-Demon King level. If they attack together, Great King, do you have a plan to counter them?!”
“Before, we were in the open while they lurked in the shadows. Now, with your Demon Network’s intelligence, they’re in the open, and we’re in the shadows.”
“With preparation against the unprepared, this king is confident in taking them down!”
Mo Fan grinned, then instructed, “Keep a close eye on these two mountains. Report to me immediately if anything arises!”
“Yes!”
Xiao Huang nodded but added, “Great King, one more thing. Our investigations revealed some spies from those two mountains within our Black Wind Mountain. Should we root them out?”
“No need. Just give me the list and don’t alert them!”
Mo Fan smiled. He wasn’t surprised that Black Wind Mountain had spies from other mountains.
If there weren’t any, that would be truly odd!
But he saw this as an opportunity to turn the tables.
Seeing Mo Fan had his own plans, Xiao Huang said no more. He soon handed over the list of spies to Mo Fan and then flew off on his sword, leaving Black Wind Mountain.
Shortly after, Mo Fan summoned Red Eyes and White Elephant, handing them the list and saying calmly, “Keep an eye on these demons. No further action is needed.”
“By the way, I heard we captured a demon general alive this time?”
“Those bastards! So many spies!”
Red Eyes glared, spotting members of his enforcement team on the list!
White Elephant responded, “Reporting to the Great King, we did capture a demon general alive. His cultivation is sealed, and he’s imprisoned in the dungeon beneath the General Hall.”
“Let’s go take a look!”
A flash of killing intent crossed Mo Fan’s eyes!
The General Hall was on another peak of Black Wind Mountain. Though called a hall, it was merely a treehouse roughly crafted from logs, serving as the cultivation ground for the monkey clan demon generals.
As Mo Fan arrived, the demon generals bowed respectfully and opened the dungeon.
Inside, Mo Fan found two figures. One demon lounged bare-chested on a bed, while the other rattled the cell door, shouting in rage, “Let me out! Do you know who I am? I’m a member of the Lei Yu family, with numerous demon kings in our clan, even a Demon Ancestor! How dare you treat me like this!!”
“So, someone with a background. No wonder you’re so bold!”
“But sadly, this king doesn’t take kindly to threats or to those who flaunt their connections!”
Mo Fan stepped forward, delivering two slaps that sent the demon general flying, his cheeks swelling like a pig’s head.
“Well, finally someone after my own heart!”
In the opposite cell, the previously lounging middle-aged man stood, curiously sizing up Mo Fan.
After dealing with the Lei Yu family member, Mo Fan turned to study this man.
“You’re Wolf Fierce?”
“You’re Laibao?”
Both demons voiced their guesses simultaneously, paused, then burst into laughter.
“So it’s you, you little punk! If you hadn’t ambushed me back then, I’d have beaten the crap out of you!”
Wolf Fierce cursed, clearly recognising Mo Fan. They had clashed briefly by the Black Water River long ago.
That time, Wolf Fierce had suffered a great loss, and now, seeing Mo Fan again, he was naturally displeased.
“Hey! Wolf Fierce, don’t push your luck. Standing before you is the king of our Black Wind Mountain. How dare you speak so rudely?!” Before Mo Fan could respond, Red Eyes snapped.
“Hey! With my temper!”
“If I’d known Black Wind Mountain’s king was a sneaky lowlife, this general wouldn’t have come back!”
“You didn’t even thank me profusely for helping drive off that Lei Yuchuan, yet you lock me up again. What kind of logic is that?”
“If you’ve got the guts, let me out of this cage, and we’ll fight three hundred rounds!”
Wolf Fierce roared at Mo Fan, his face fierce.
“You think I’d let you out just because you say so? Wouldn’t that make this king lose face?”
Mo Fan winked at him, flashing a cheeky grin.
“What?!”
Wolf Fierce thought he’d misheard.
“I said, no release!”
“Besides, your cultivation is far inferior to mine. Forget three hundred rounds, you probably couldn’t handle one!”
Mo Fan shrugged. He had already heard about Wolf Fierce from He Feifei and knew he wasn’t an enemy. In fact, he had helped defend Black Wind Mountain at a critical moment.
But Mo Fan also understood this wolf demon’s temperament, so he wanted to tame him first!
