Looking at the sky filled with crimson crystal thorns dissipating into thin air, as if they had never existed, Wolf Fierce was momentarily stunned, but he quickly came to his senses, his face full of bitterness.
He realised that these crystal thorns were mere illusions, not real Five Elements crystals, formed purely from energy, and thus lacked significant power.
In truth, since Mo Fan intended to subdue Wolf Fierce, how could he seriously injure him?
Thus, everything was merely a facade to intimidate Wolf Fierce.
What Mo Fan hadn’t anticipated was that Wolf Fierce, despite appearing domineering and stubborn, was actually principled, and his swift changes in stance at times caught even Mo Fan off guard.
“Brother Wolf, please rise quickly. With you joining us, it is truly a blessing for Black Wind Mountain!”
Mo Fan hurriedly helped Wolf Fierce up, smiling. “Previously, you risked your life for the demons of Black Wind Mountain. This king is fully aware of it. In truth, this time it was I who was too calculating. I hope Brother Wolf can overlook my past faults.”
“I understand Your Majesty’s intentions. This shows that Your Majesty genuinely cares for the demons of Black Wind Mountain, unlike that wild boar demon of old, who only sought his own pleasure and cared nothing for the lives of the other brothers on the mountain,” Wolf Fierce said with feeling.
His words prompted nods from the surrounding demons. Though most were wild demons, many had defected from other demonic forces, so they knew well the state of the various demon factions today.
If the demon clans had even half the order of the human race, these wild demons would not have fled.
The notorious reputation of the demon clans had long-standing reasons. Some great demons, born ferocious, would even devour their own kin without mercy. Great demons like Toad King, who possessed some demonic virtue, were rare indeed.
“Since all my children are gathered at this peak today, hear my command: from this day forth, Wolf Fierce is appointed as the Second General of Black Wind Mountain!”
Mo Fan spoke, and the demons erupted in cheers, shouting excitedly, “Long live the King!”
“Wolf Fierce thanks Your Majesty!”
Wolf Fierce’s face lit up with joy. He had returned to the mountain hoping to be promoted to demon general. Though Zhu Vanguard’s death had come unexpectedly quickly, and the process was somewhat convoluted, the outcome was satisfactory.
The only difference was that the king above him had changed from Wild Boar King to the current Toad King.
“Alright, children, disperse!”
“Those with tasks, go carry them out. Those without, go amuse yourselves!”
Having subdued Wolf Fierce, Mo Fan was in high spirits and about to leave when Sun Bai, clad in armour, suddenly asked, “Your Majesty, what should we do with the demon general imprisoned below the hall?”
At this, Mo Fan recalled the demon general from the Lei Yu family still held in the dungeon and immediately asked, “Does that demon general have any supernatural powers?”
“Not that I know of,” Sun Bai replied after a moment’s thought, shaking his head.
Mo Fan inwardly sighed with regret and asked further, “What is his true form?”
“Your Majesty, that fellow is a yak demon, with astonishing brute strength!” Sun Bai answered.
“Perfect. It’s been a while since this king had yak. Turn him into a feast! Consider it a welcome for the Second General!”
“It’s been some time since the children had a proper feast. It’ll be a nice change of taste. While you’re at it, fetch some game from the hunting camp to prepare together.
Also, inform Old Chai at the kitchen camp to make the flavours just right and bring out his prized wines. He can settle the bill with me later!
Since we’re holding a feast, we must ensure the children eat and drink well!”
Mo Fan then turned to the demons, laughing heartily. “Did you all hear that, children? Tonight, we feast at the mountain’s peak. Don’t miss it!”
“Wow! A feast tonight!”
“A demon general banquet, no less! Last time, Pig Commander hogged all the demon generals, leaving us salivating. Tonight, we finally get a treat!”
“Following the King is the best. Who’d have thought us lowly demons would one day feast on demon general meat!”
“Long live the King!”
“May the King enjoy this day every year, this moment every age, and… a hundred raised rumps…”
Mo Fan, initially delighted by the demons’ flattery, was taken aback by the sudden shift in tone.
Sweating inwardly, he quickly changed the subject, addressing Crane Fly and the other demons. “Generals and commanders, come to this king’s Spring Pool Cave!”
With that, Mo Fan leapt back onto the head of the fire lizard.
The next moment, the fire lizard soared into the sky, vanishing into the horizon.
“Your Majesty, wait for me!”
Flight Team Commander Chirp chased after Mo Fan, curiously eyeing the massive creature beneath him, asking enviously, “Your Majesty, where did you find such a huge beast?”
“Little thing, who are you calling a beast?!”
The fire lizard spoke, clearly displeased.
“What! It can talk?”
Chirp, astonished, perched on Mo Fan’s shoulder, sneering. “You can’t even manifest a spiritual form, so you’re not of our demon clan. At best, you’re a savage beast. What else could you be if not a monster?”
“You know nothing!”
The fire lizard snorted, then said proudly, “I am of the fire spirit lineage, born of heaven and earth. Though I’m among the spirit creatures, I can still be considered part of the demon clan!
As for spiritual forms, not all demons can manifest one.”
“See? Talking so grandly, yet you can’t manifest a spiritual form. And you say you’re not a monster?” Chirp retorted with disdain.
“You… ignorant frog in a well. This king has even reached the Demon King realm!” the fire lizard huffed.
“Boasting without proof, but you still can’t manifest a spiritual form!” Chirp sneered.
“You… a mere frog in a well. This king won’t stoop to argue with you!”
“Your Majesty, he’s insulting you!”
Fire Lizard: “…”
Mo Fan, exasperated, knew Chirp’s sharp tongue could infuriate the massive fire lizard to death. He said to Chirp, “I just saw Red Eye gambling again. Go check on him and bring him back to Spring Pool Cave.”
“What? Red Eye dares to cause trouble again?!”
“Your Majesty, rest assured. I’ll drag him back. If it comes to skinning him, you won’t need to lift a finger. I, Chirp, will be the first to act!”
As expected, upon hearing Red Eye was gambling, Chirp immediately grew anxious, left Mo Fan’s shoulder, and flew toward Flat Peak.
“Big fellow, do you have a name?”
With Chirp gone, Mo Fan turned to the fire lizard, who thought for a moment and said, “They call me Fire Spirit!”
“Well… fine then. I was going to give you a name, but since you already have one, never mind!” Mo Fan said with slight regret.
“Your Majesty, where are we headed?”
“To this king’s residence, Spring Pool Cave!”
