Faced with Bai Yaoyao’s question, Mo Fan froze momentarily, instinctively glancing at the two “big white rabbits” before him. He swallowed hard, muttering, “Yours are big…”
“Hmm?”
Bai Yaoyao glared, noticing Mo Fan’s gaze fixed on her chest. Her face flushed with embarrassment as she scolded, “None of you men are any good!”
With that, a flash of light enveloped her body, and a white dress instantly covered her form.
“Cough, cough… I mean, a slip of the tongue… a slip of the tongue…”
Mo Fan averted his gaze, awkwardly rubbing his nose, then said seriously, “I’m innocent with Bai Xue. Don’t tarnish this king’s reputation!”
“Oh? Does the Black Wind Old Demon still have a reputation to uphold?”
Bai Yaoyao teased with a wink, then added earnestly, “I was just teasing you earlier. Did you take it seriously?”
“You snake demon!!”
Mo Fan was instantly annoyed.
“But I really must thank you this time. Without you, I might not have survived the lightning tribulation.”
Bai Yaoyao’s smile softened. With a wave of her hand, an object flew from the distant pit, landing in her palm.
Mo Fan looked closely and saw it was the Demon King’s secret treasure, not only undamaged but radiating even stronger thunderous energy.
“Your purple-gold cauldron was destroyed, but this chest bone turned misfortune into fortune. Refined by the tribulation lightning, it’s now comparable to a magical treasure,” Bai Yaoyao said, looking at the Demon King’s secret treasure. She then turned to Mo Fan, “I noticed Black Wind Mountain lacks a true mountain-guarding treasure. I plan to refine this further into a genuine Demon King weapon. With the right formation, it could serve as Black Wind Mountain’s guardian treasure. What do you think?”
“If you can pull that off, it’d be excellent!”
Mo Fan nodded, a trace of joy on his face.
When he first obtained this Demon King’s secret treasure, he had also thought of using it as Black Wind Mountain’s guardian treasure.
“This bone carries thunderous might, perfect for crafting a sound-based treasure. But this single bone isn’t enough to create a finished product. We’re still missing many materials,” Bai Yaoyao said, shaking her head. She handed the Demon King’s secret treasure back to Mo Fan, saying, “Keep it for now. We’ll refine it once we find the other materials.”
“What materials do we need?” Mo Fan asked, gripping the Demon King’s secret treasure, feeling its immense thunderous power.
“Preferably the bones and hide of a Demon King!” Bai Yaoyao smiled.
Her smile was radiant, but her words sent a chill down Mo Fan’s spine.
Human cultivators craft artefacts with rare minerals or woods, but you go straight for bones and hides…
“No wonder you’re a demon… even your treasure-crafting is so unique!”
Mo Fan sighed inwardly, nodding, “Fine, next time I’ll try to kill a Demon King for your materials!”
“Big talk!”
Bai Yaoyao laughed, then looked up at the now-dissipated tribulation clouds, her brows furrowing slightly.
“What’s wrong?” Mo Fan asked.
“Nothing. I just feel lighter, as if some shackles of this world have been lifted,” Bai Yaoyao said after a moment’s thought.
“That mysterious?” Mo Fan was surprised, then mused, “Could it be related to what that old Taoist said?”
“Perhaps!”
“I can sense some changes in this world, but I can’t quite put it into words. To be safe, we should leave the Southern Borderlands for now,” Bai Yaoyao suggested.
“Yes, it’s time to go back. If we’re too late and those two mountains raid our home, it won’t be worth it!”
Mo Fan nodded in agreement.
“Raid our home?”
Bai Yaoyao found the phrase odd but fitting, despite hearing it for the first time.
“Cough, cough… let’s go!”
Mo Fan grinned. Demonic energy surged, and a cloud of demonic mist formed, carrying him into the sky.
Bai Yaoyao smiled faintly, lightly tapping the ground with her toes, her body floating upward.
Having broken through to the King realm, she no longer needed to ride clouds to fly. The energy from her demon core was enough to free her from the earth’s pull.
In the air, Bai Yaoyao opened her mouth and inhaled sharply. An object flew from the ground.
Mo Fan saw it was the jade seal, which vanished into her mouth in an instant.
“That seal isn’t a Demon King weapon, is it? Otherwise, it wouldn’t have scattered that old Taoist’s sword energy so easily,” Mo Fan asked curiously.
“Correct. This seal, called the ‘Water God Seal,’ was a treasure my mother once refined. Originally an ordinary Demon King weapon, it was later enhanced by the power of mortal incense, becoming a Demon Ancestor holy weapon. When fully activated, it’s comparable to a Demon Ancestor’s strike. Naturally, that old Taoist couldn’t withstand it,” Bai Yaoyao nodded.
“I see.”
Mo Fan nodded, a hint of envy in his eyes. Most of his artefacts were only at the magical artefact level. The only powerful ones were the Demon King’s secret treasure and the Demon King weapon he’d taken from Lei Yufeng.
But even those couldn’t compare to Bai Yaoyao’s Water God Seal.
“Though the Water God Seal is strong, it’s still far from enough against a true Demon Ancestor. The two demon mountains are no threat, but the real danger looming over us is the Demon Ancestor of the Lei Yu clan. Are you aware?” Bai Yaoyao looked at Mo Fan, her expression grave.
“I understand. When we return, I’ll try the method Yun Rou mentioned!”
Mo Fan’s expression grew serious, then he gave a wry smile, “If it doesn’t work, I’ll have no choice but to lead my Black Wind Mountain demons and flee for our lives…”
“As long as you understand!”
“As long as you survive, there’s a chance for a comeback. Otherwise, it’s all for nothing!” Bai Yaoyao nodded, worried Mo Fan might be as stubborn as that old Taoist, leaving no hope for salvation.
Mo Fan understood her meaning, but until things reached that point, how could he give up?
The two demons travelled together, moving at astonishing speed, soon leaving the Southern Borderlands and entering the Demon Spirit Mountain Range.
At the same time, deep in the Southern Borderlands, a figure looked up at the clear sky, a faint smile appearing on their face. Their body then turned into a beam of light, vanishing without a trace.
Moments later, a strand of Mo Fan’s hair glowed briefly before dimming.
Bai Yaoyao seemed to sense something, turning to look, but saw nothing. Her brows furrowed slightly.
“What’s wrong? Is there a flower on my face?” Mo Fan asked, puzzled.
“No, I just noticed you’ve gotten a lot more handsome!”
“What? Really? I’ve always thought so too!”
Mo Fan beamed with delight.
“Just kidding. I wanted to see how thick your skin could get.”
“…”
…
In the Hundred Thousand Mountains, there was a vast valley named “Moon Gazing.”
At that moment, three uninvited guests arrived in Moon Gazing Valley, walking towards a seemingly dilapidated hall under the greedy gazes of numerous demons.
The hall was built from massive stones, exuding a rough, crude aura.
In the plaza before the hall stood many pillars, each made of countless human bones stacked together.
The sword-bearing youth glanced at these pillars, shuddering. He could clearly see human skulls embedded within them!
On either side of the plaza were large iron cauldrons, flames burning fiercely within, their blackened oil emitting a nauseating stench. What unsettled the youth most was the eerie green flames!
Human skeletons hung from some pillars, each pierced through the shoulder blades by large iron hooks…
“Roar—”
A massive demon creature coiled atop the hall, its grotesque head lunging forward as the three approached, letting out a low growl. Saliva dripped from its mouth, sizzling on the ground and releasing wisps of green smoke.
Looking at the enormous centipede-like demon, the white-robed girl frowned, instinctively stepping closer to the youth.
“Stay back, or I won’t mind twisting your head off!”
The lead woman, a striking beauty, looked up, her gaze icy as she stared at the demon.
“Hahaha… Lady Tushan graces us with her presence. I, Di, failed to welcome you from afar. Please forgive me!”
A hearty laugh echoed, shaking the entire valley.
A tall man in a white robe stepped out of the hall, casually tossing aside a young girl’s corpse, blood still staining his lips. He smiled brightly at the three below the steps.
