On the second day, as agreed, Mo Fan arrived at the dungeon.
Although he had verbally expressed disappointment in You Er’s divination abilities, in truth, he was certain that the Destiny Compass was a valuable treasure.
This was only the second time he had encountered a treasure hidden within a sea of consciousness, much like his own golden coin.
When Mo Fan saw You Er again, he noticed the man’s dishevelled hair and bloodshot eyes, clearly indicating he had not slept well the previous night.
“If I fail to divine again, will you really kill me?”
Before Mo Fan could speak, You Er looked at him first.
Though he appeared somewhat haggard this time, his gaze was much calmer.
“Not necessarily.”
Mo Fan shook his head, then teased, “Don’t you trust in fate? Let your destiny decide!”
You Er nodded without saying more. After Mo Fan released the seal within his body, he once again summoned the Destiny Compass.
“This time, let’s try something different!”
Just as You Er was about to begin the divination, Mo Fan suddenly spoke.
“What do you mean?”
You Er looked at Mo Fan, puzzled.
“This time, don’t divine for me. Divine for Black Wind Mountain instead. Can you do it?” Mo Fan asked.
In his view, if You Er’s Destiny Compass was truly a treasure, why had it repeatedly failed on him?
Could it have something to do with himself?
After all, he originally did not belong to this world.
This reminded Mo Fan of when he accompanied Bai Yaoyao to the southern border and encountered that human elder from the Tianyun Sect. The elder had spoken grandly of human destiny but was shocked when facing Mo Fan, as if something was beyond his expectations.
Thus, Mo Fan wanted to try a different approach to see if it confirmed his suspicions.
“I don’t know. I’ve never divined for a mountain before…”
You Er gave a wry smile. He had only ever divined for people, never for a mountain.
“Then give it a try!”
Mo Fan nodded, adding, “If you succeed this time, not only will this king spare you, but I will also put you to good use!”
“And if I fail again?” You Er asked timidly.
“What do you think?”
Mo Fan winked at him, grinning to reveal a mouth full of sharp fangs, and said, “By the way, it’s been a while since this king tasted human flesh.”
This caused You Er to swallow hard. After a moment of silence, he said, “Lord Demon King, we’re sort of half-kin…”
“What do you mean?”
Mo Fan looked at You Er in surprise.
“Though I come from the Divine Realm, I also have demon blood in me. I’m a genuine half-demon. Look, if you don’t believe me!”
As he spoke, You Er rolled up his sleeve, revealing his arm.
Mo Fan looked at his arm and saw a section wrapped in cloth.
As You Er unwound the cloth, Mo Fan saw what was hidden beneath: green scale-like markings resembling fish scales.
The scaled markings were small, only about three scales in size. Mo Fan extended his demonic energy to touch them, indeed sensing a trace of demonic aura.
“You really are a half-demon?”
Mo Fan looked at You Er in surprise, then asked, “What kind of demon blood do you have?”
“I don’t know, and neither did my parents, I’m afraid.”
You Er smiled bitterly and said, “I only heard my mother mention it once.
Like me, she was also a half-demon, but our demon blood is so thin that the demonic aura is barely noticeable. As long as I cover the markings on my arm with cloth, even cultivators can’t detect it.”
Mo Fan nodded, finding this quite intriguing. He then looked at You Er and said, “Since you carry demon blood, this king won’t eat you. But… have you awakened any divine abilities?”
Mo Fan’s tone shifted, his gaze burning as he looked at You Er.
“What are divine abilities?”
You Er’s response left Mo Fan utterly disappointed. He immediately said impatiently, “You’ll find out later. Now hurry up and divine for Black Wind Mountain!”
Seeing Mo Fan’s displeasure, You Er quickly shut his mouth and began to focus on activating the compass. After dripping a drop of blood from his brow into the compass, the previously flickering green and red lights above the compass exploded, manifesting as two clouds of light mist.
Mo Fan looked at the two-coloured mist above the compass and saw different scenes emerging within each.
The green mist showed a dim, shimmering scene like rippling water, while the red mist was filled with endless raging flames.
The two clouds of mist lingered above the compass for a moment before dispersing, merging back into the green and red lights within the compass.
“What does this mean?”
Mo Fan asked, puzzled.
“It worked!”
“It worked this time!!”
You Er, however, was so excited that tears welled in his eyes.
Over the past few days, he had thought his family’s treasure was broken. Now that it had produced a result, the gloom in his heart was swept away.
Seeing Mo Fan’s slight frown, You Er quickly restrained his excitement and explained, “The green and red lights on my Destiny Compass represent misfortune and fortune, respectively. Red is misfortune, and green is fortune!”
“Oh?”
“So, you’re saying Black Wind Mountain has both fortune and misfortune?” Mo Fan raised an eyebrow.
“Not quite. If it were a mix of fortune and misfortune, the two lights would blend together. But just now, each manifested its own scene, meaning Black Wind Mountain has both a fortunate omen and an unfortunate one!” You Er explained.
“Explain further.”
Mo Fan pressed, “Can you tell where the fortune lies and where the misfortune is?”
Seeing Mo Fan’s persistence, You Er put on airs, not answering directly but asking, “Now you believe I can divine, right?”
“Cut the nonsense!”
“If you don’t want to be eaten, interpret the divination now!” Mo Fan said impatiently.
“You… how can you be like this?”
The smile on You Er’s face vanished, and he said indignantly, “You just said you wouldn’t eat me. We’re kin!”
“Sorry, I’m not human, I’m a demon!
And you’re not a demon, you’re a half-demon. We’re not kin!”
Mo Fan grinned, revealing two rows of sharp teeth, causing You Er’s face to stiffen.
“You… you’re a Demon King!
Can’t you show some demon virtue and not be so shameless?!”
You Er gritted his teeth, his face on the verge of tears.
“This king not eating you immediately is already showing plenty of demon virtue.
If you don’t interpret the divination and keep blabbering, I’ll have my children drag you out and throw you into a boiling pot!” Mo Fan threatened fiercely.
“I’ll interpret, I’ll interpret, alright?!”
You Er’s face crumpled, inwardly cursing Mo Fan’s ancestors through eighteen generations, but he said, “The divination showed two omens. The fortunate mist showed a water hexagram, meaning Black Wind Mountain’s fortune is related to water.
The unfortunate mist showed a fire sign, indicating the factor harmful to Black Wind Mountain is related to fire.”
“That’s it?”
Mo Fan frowned, clearly dissatisfied with the vague interpretation.
“Lord Demon King, we’re divining for the entire Black Wind Mountain. Getting a result at all is already quite good…” You Er said helplessly.
Seeing that he didn’t seem to be lying, Mo Fan nodded and fell into thought.
The divination was indeed simple: water for fortune, fire for misfortune.
In Mo Fan’s mind, there were only a few factors that could currently harm Black Wind Mountain, and the one related to fire could only be the Phoenix Cry Mountain Demon Domain.
The answer was becoming clear.
“It seems the Lei Yu family is still incorrigible!”
Mo Fan took a deep breath, his gaze growing colder.
The misfortune was clear, but where was the fortune?
Related to water, the only possibility was the Black Water River. Could Black Wind Mountain’s opportunity lie there?
Mo Fan’s eyes narrowed slightly as he thought of another place: the Spring Pool!
Could there be a treasure hidden beneath the Spring Pool?
