In Mo Fan’s cave dwelling, a group of demons stormed in, grumbling and cursing.
“Red Eye, did the boss really tell you to bring us here?”
“Yeah, you better not be messing with us, or I’ll crush your yolk!”
“The boss usually stays in his own cave, why’s he in this ugly thing’s place today?”
“…”
Faced with the demons’ doubts, Red Eye couldn’t help but wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, silently praying that Mo Fan’s words were true, or he’d be doomed!
But he calmly said, “The boss is indeed here, how could I dare deceive you all?
As for why the boss chose to meet you here, I don’t know!”
The demons nodded slightly. The ox demon, Da Li, chuckled, “I trust Red Eye!
He’s stingy on normal days, but he wouldn’t mess up on something this big.”
Hearing Da Li’s words, the demons quieted down a bit.
“Lai Fu, your nose is sharp, can you smell the boss’s scent?” the spider demon Old Eight asked the dog demon beside him.
“No need to sniff, I smelled the boss’s scent the moment I walked in, along with a whiff of blood!” Lai Fu sneered.
Blood?
The demons exchanged glances.
Soon, they reached the depths of the cave but didn’t see Scorpion Demon, causing them all to frown and turn their gazes to Red Eye.
“Boss, Red Eye has brought them!” Red Eye cleared his throat and shouted loudly.
“Splash—”
Suddenly, the sound of water splashing echoed, and the demons turned to the spring pool outside the back door.
A figure, shrouded in dense demonic aura, leapt into the cave and walked toward them step by step.
“Red Eye greets the Lord!” Red Eye said respectfully upon seeing the figure.
The demons were about to speak when the dog demon Lai Fu suddenly barked, “He’s not Lord Blackie!”
“Who the hell are you?!”
At his words, the demons were startled, eyeing the figure cloaked in demonic aura with suspicion.
At that moment, the demonic aura around the figure began to thin, gradually revealing an ordinary face.
But when the demons saw who it was, they were dumbfounded.
Lai Bao!
It was the toad demon Lai Bao!!
“You damned Lai Bao, daring to impersonate the boss! You…”
Lai Fu, the dog demon, roared in anger, but before he could finish, his body shuddered. He looked down at his chest.
A scarlet object, like a spear, had pierced through his body!
“Swish!”
In the next instant, the tongue arrow retracted, pulling Lai Fu’s body toward Mo Fan.
Mo Fan opened his mouth, swallowing Lai Fu into his internal space!
“There, much quieter now!”
Mo Fan grinned as if nothing had happened, but the sudden scene sent chills through the demons.
Lai Fu, the dog demon, was dead just like that?
“Lai Bao, what’s going on here?”
Old Eight asked with a grim face, glancing at Red Eye, who was hiding behind Mo Fan, a glint of killing intent in his eyes.
“Yeah, Lai Bao, what are you up to?”
Sparrow Chacha also looked at Mo Fan in confusion, as did Da Li.
“This is exactly why I gathered you all here.”
Mo Fan finally spoke slowly, then declared, “I’m here to announce something!”
“What?” Trusted follower Old Three asked coldly, eyeing Mo Fan.
“Scorpion Demon Blackie is dead! From today, I’ll be leading you all!”
Mo Fan’s lips curved slightly, his hands instinctively spreading and lifting upward.
What?!
The demons were stunned, their faces filled with shock.
Scorpion Demon Blackie was dead?!
“Lai Bao, what nonsense are you spouting?
How dare you say such rebellious words? Believe it or not, we’ll kill you right now!” Old Three said coldly, his gaze turning icy.
“Are you sure you want to fight me to the death?”
Mo Fan sneered, a surge of powerful demonic aura radiating from him, revealing the presence of a Demon Soldier.
“He really is a Demon Soldier!”
Old Three’s expression changed, his eyes filled with uncertainty, not daring to provoke further.
“I’ve said my piece, so now it’s your turn to give me your answer.
Submit or die!”
Mo Fan’s voice was cold, but then he smiled warmly at the demons, “So, what’s your choice?”
“Well…”
Da Li, the ox demon, was the first to hesitate. Sparrow Chacha spoke up again, “Lai Bao, is the boss… bah, is Scorpion Demon really dead?”
Mo Fan seemed to recall something, spitting out a wooden plaque engraved with two characters and a scorpion pattern.
“The boss’s identity token!”
Trusted follower Old Six exclaimed, recognizing it.
As Scorpion Demon’s confidant and mount, he knew many of his secrets and could identify such items.
Hearing Old Six, the demons fully believed Mo Fan’s earlier words.
“If Scorpion Demon is really dead, what’s there to hesitate about?”
“I, Chacha, greet Lord Lai Bao!” Chacha was the first to submit, hopping on Da Li’s horns.
“I greet Lord Dingmu too!” Da Li said in a deep, rumbling voice.
Several lesser demons had decent ties with Mo Fan. Plus, this time, Mo Fan had risked being turned into a feast to save Red Eye down the mountain, which was enough for Da Li and Chacha to follow him!
Mo Fan’s face lit up with a smile, then he turned his gaze to the three trusted followers.
Though these three were Scorpion Demon’s confidants, Mo Fan didn’t think they’d fight to the death for him.
Of course, he wasn’t afraid if they did.
Their answer could only be one thing, and if they chose wrong, Mo Fan would kill them without hesitation!
He wanted a group of demons he could use, which was why he killed Lai Fu instantly.
It was both to intimidate the lesser demons and because he knew Lai Fu couldn’t be trusted.
The three trusted follower demons looked troubled, not speaking right away. Old Six and Old Eight both turned to Old Three.
Mo Fan looked at him too, curious about his choice.
“Scorpion Demon deserved to die, but he was appointed Dingmu by the Third General and had the identity token. Killing him is defying your superiors. By Black Wind Mountain’s rules, you’d be turned into a feast!
Unless you gain the Third General’s approval to replace Scorpion Demon!
But with the Third General away, getting his approval is near impossible!” Old Three shook his head.
“Whether I get approval is my problem. Right now, I just want to know your choice,” Mo Fan said, still eyeing the three demons.
“If I say no, will you kill me?” Old Three asked Mo Fan.
“Yes!”
Mo Fan replied without hesitation.
“Old Three greets the Lord!” Old Three gave a bitter smile.
With Old Three taking the lead, Old Eight and Old Six soon submitted as well.
“Good. In that case, swallow these!”
Mo Fan smiled, flicking his hand, and three pills shot out, landing in front of the three trusted follower demons.
“What are these?”
Old Eight and the others’ faces changed drastically.
“A pledge of loyalty. Only by swallowing these can I trust you,” Mo Fan said openly, then smiled, “Don’t worry, though they’re highly toxic, they’re under my control and won’t activate randomly.”
“Toxic?!”
The three demons’ eyelids twitched violently.
“Swallow them now, or I’ll swallow you. Your choice!”
Mo Fan spoke calmly, looking at their grim faces, a slight smirk curling his lips…
