Granny Sparrow’s words carried almost no concealment, which made Mo Fan’s heart turn solemn.
In an instant he understood one thing: the Fire Phoenix Holy King was using Granny Sparrow’s mouth to sound out his true situation.
“White Deer Ancestor must have told her that I might have obtained the Water Moon Spirit Mirror…”
“But how could she guess that I possess the ancient treasure refining method?”
“Is this just a probe… or did that Taoist fail to see through me last time, so now she suspects me?”
Mo Fan frowned, pondering in silence.
After thinking for a long while without any clear answer, he suddenly looked up, stared earnestly into Granny Sparrow’s eyes, and said gravely, “Granny, you have been truly good to me, but can I really trust you?”
“Fan’er, I have no children, no descendants. From the moment I accepted you, I have treated you as my own grandson!”
“Though kinship means little to most of our demon race, I am different. For hundreds of years I have served at the Holy King’s side, steeped in the principles of humans, so I understand perfectly well what family ties and bonds truly are.”
“I cannot answer your question with words, but no matter when, I am your granny!”
Granny Sparrow looked back at Mo Fan with equal seriousness.
Mo Fan fell silent for a moment, deeply moved. He could tell her feelings were genuine and not meant to deceive him. He took a deep breath and asked, “Then does Granny trust the Fire Phoenix Holy King?”
“If I did not trust her, I would have left her side long ago.”
“Since Granny trusts the Holy King, then I trust her too!”
Mo Fan inhaled deeply, his gaze suddenly becoming resolute, as if he had made a firm decision. He pointed a finger straight at Granny Sparrow’s forehead.
Granny Sparrow did not dodge; she let his finger touch her brow.
The next instant, a stream of intricate information appeared in her mind.
“This is?”
Granny Sparrow’s eyes widened as she guessed what it was.
“This is the ancient treasure refining method. The immortal sword the Holy King obtained is not a true immortal treasure, but an ancient treasure.
Ancient treasures were forged by great powers of antiquity, so they require a special refining technique.
Granny, please pass this method to the Holy King and help her refine that sword!”
Mo Fan spoke with solemn gravity.
“Where did you learn this information?” Granny Sparrow asked in astonishment.
“From… a senior.”
Mo Fan opened his mouth, revealing very little.
Seeing he did not wish to say more, Granny Sparrow did not press him. She simply nodded and said, “Rest assured, I will deliver this ancient treasure refining method to the Holy King!”
“Even if that immortal treasure were in your hands, the Holy King would never covet what is yours.
This matter is of great importance. You must never mention it to another demon again. I must leave now and get this method to the Holy King as quickly as possible!”
“Alright!”
Mo Fan nodded. After watching Granny Sparrow depart, another demon suddenly appeared before him.
It was none other than White Deer Ancestor!
White Deer Ancestor said nothing, merely gazing calmly at Mo Fan until Mo Fan felt goosebumps all over. He immediately grinned and said, “White Deer Ancestor, what’s this about? Am I too handsome, or just too good-looking?”
“It’s because your face is too thick!”
White Deer Ancestor rolled his eyes, then timely withdrew his stare.
“That thing really is on you!”
“What are you talking about? I don’t understand a word.” Mo Fan gave a wry smile, inwardly cursing that this old monster was indeed not as easy to fool as he had imagined.
“When Granny Sparrow received her task, I was right beside her. Although she came this time to celebrate with you, she had another mission.
The banquet isn’t even over yet, and she has already left. Isn’t it obvious she’s rushing back to report?”
White Deer Ancestor snorted coldly, then frowned. “You don’t need to be so guarded against me. The Holy King has already guessed it’s with you, yet she hasn’t taken it. She has her reasons. I could never stoop to stealing your belongings.
After all, I am a demon ancestor. I still have some face!”
“I truly disdain such lowly acts!”
Looking at White Deer Ancestor’s righteous expression, Mo Fan rolled his eyes inwardly and thought, “Believe you? I’d sooner believe Red Eyes could shag the sun!”
Outwardly, however, he only smiled bitterly and said, “White Deer Ancestor, I’ve told you long ago that I really don’t have it. If you don’t believe me, search my body. If you find it, I’ll hand it over willingly!”
“Really?”
White Deer Ancestor’s eyes lit up at once.
“Of course it’s true. But what if you don’t find anything?”
“I can’t be the one losing out every time, can I?”
Mo Fan’s eyes spun as he chuckled. “How about this: if you can’t find it on me, you support Black Wind Mountain with another ten portions of resources for advancing to demon general. Deal?”
White Deer Ancestor’s joyful face instantly fell. He cursed, “You little toad! I think of everything for you. Just now I stuck my neck out for you without regard for danger, and now you’re scheming against me!”
“Ancestor, how is this scheming?”
“It’s a fair bet, winner takes all. Very reasonable, isn’t it?”
Mo Fan blinked innocently at White Deer Ancestor and laughed. “So, respected elder, are we betting… or betting?”
“Bet my arse!”
“I’m off! If I stay any longer, you’ll probably end up swindling my own granddaughter!”
White Deer Ancestor stormed off, vanishing in a single teleport.
Mo Fan subconsciously touched his nose, then curled his lip and muttered, “This old fellow is either after this king’s ancient treasure or this king’s body. Absolutely terrifying!”
“Though that White Phoenix girl doesn’t seem half bad. Seems I wouldn’t lose out either way?”
White Deer Ancestor had indeed been driven away in a huff by Mo Fan. In truth, he still wasn’t certain Mo Fan possessed the bronze mirror. Everything he had said was merely a probe.
Unfortunately, Mo Fan was one step ahead, playing dumb to the end and leaving White Deer Ancestor completely helpless.
He had wanted to search, but thinking of Mo Fan’s cunning, he ultimately gave up.
Mo Fan’s mood was not spoiled by White Deer Ancestor. Instead, he looked towards the direction of Phoenix Cry Mountain and murmured, “I hope you don’t disappoint me. Otherwise, my only choice will be to take all my little demons and leave the Phoenix Cry Mountain demon domain!”
If possible, Mo Fan truly did not want to gamble, but Granny Sparrow was right. If the powerhouse from Inverted Mountain arrived and the Fire Phoenix Holy King had no strength to fight, Black Wind Mountain would probably be caught in the disaster as well.
The current situation in Phoenix Cry Mountain demon domain was exactly what he wanted, not a chaotic one!
Only when the rear was peaceful enough could he revel without burden. Otherwise, what joy was there in constantly living on edge?
Leaning against a great tree was the way to enjoy the shade. If the great tree fell, forget shade; even a light drizzle would leave him soaked to the skin!
The entire demon king grand ceremony lasted a full three days. The demon kings ate and drank for three days straight, exhausting the kitchen camp demons to the limit.
Just when Mo Fan began to suspect these demon kings hadn’t eaten properly in ages and were deliberately coming to Black Wind Mountain for free food and drink, they finally deigned to bid farewell.
Only after every demon king had left did Mo Fan let out a huge sigh of relief.
Taking advantage of all the mountain’s little demons being present, he immediately announced rewards, sending the entire mountain’s demon populace into raptures.
Especially the little demons. They never imagined they would get both a feast and personal gifts. How could one word “awesome” suffice!
“Long live the Great King!”
For a moment, the whole mountain rang with the frenzied roars of the demon crowd.
Mo Fan wasted no words and immediately distributed heavenly treasures.
Most of these treasures were his spoils of war.
Back in the Dragon Ruins, he had killed countless cultivators, human, demon, devil, witch, and more, so the loot he obtained was naturally enormous.
Across all of Black Wind Mountain, not a single one of the thousands of little demons was left out; almost every one received cultivation resources.
Thus an astonishing scene unfolded. For an entire day, little demons kept breaking through one after another…
Watching the little demons before him breakthrough continuously, Mo Fan felt wonderful. The future truly looked bright!
