With a thunderous roar, the entire vaulted ceiling of the tall building was blasted open, leaving a gigantic hole.
Inside the hall, every demon looked up. They saw a blazing sun hanging in the sky, vanishing into the distance in an instant.
“Great King, that fellow was far too arrogant!”
“Exactly! He clearly showed no respect for you at all. Are we really just letting them leave like that?”
Some demon generals spoke up in dissatisfaction.
“What, do you lot have a problem with it?”
“Did you see the divine ability he just used?”
“Anyone who disagrees can go settle it with him personally! This king, for one, has no objections. I already vented my anger earlier and taught that guy who truly rules this patch of Luoping City!”
The Heishi Demon King sneered repeatedly, then seemed to remember something and asked, “By the way, we still have reserves of white meat, right? You useless dogs didn’t drag out every last one, did you?”
“Heh heh, rest assured, Great King. We know better than that! Of course we didn’t bring out all the white meat!”
The demon generals chuckled.
“Good!”
Hearing this, the Heishi Demon King nodded in satisfaction and continued, “That Great Peng King is clearly no pushover. Sending him off with just a few pieces of white meat is perfect. It saves this king from wasting even more if he stayed!”
By now, Mo Fan had already flown dozens of li away. After confirming no demons were pursuing them, he and Xiao Huang descended onto a mountain peak.
“Great King, what you used just now… that wasn’t a demonic ability, was it?”
As soon as they landed, Xiao Huang could not help asking, excitement written across his face.
It was the first time he had seen anyone unleash such terrifying power, actually manifesting the sun itself in the sky. It was simply unimaginable!
“No, it is a human cultivation technique.”
Mo Fan nodded and gave a brief explanation.
This clone of his had never hidden anything from Xiao Huang, nor could it. After all, Xiao Huang was a commander of the Demon Net and would eventually learn about the clone.
Mo Fan had no intention of concealing the existence of his clone from every demon. He never planned for this clone to travel within the Hundred Thousand Mountains anyway; it was headed for the distant Divine Domain Continent.
No one there would know about these matters, so it would have no impact on him.
On the contrary, once the higher-ups at Black Wind Mountain learned of this clone, they would only hold even greater awe towards Mo Fan.
“Release all those people we just took.”
Mo Fan spoke.
In his view, carrying humans around the whole time was inconvenient. He wanted to resolve the matter now so that nothing unexpected would happen later on the journey. Besides, he already had some ideas.
Xiao Huang nodded. He opened his mouth, and immediately gusts of demonic wind and rolling black mist surged forth.
In moments, the group of naked children and the now-clothed women appeared before the two demons.
“This humble woman thanks our benefactor!”
A woman wearing a floral skirt and possessing fine features immediately knelt on the ground, her face filled with gratitude as she kowtowed deeply to Mo Fan.
The other women followed suit.
The children, however, looked bewildered at the scene. Panic filled their eyes. Some still had vomit on their bodies, and a sour stench now spread from them.
Clearly, the bloody spectacle in the building earlier had terrified the children badly.
Mo Fan looked towards Bao’er. The boy was hiding behind a slightly older child, staring timidly at him, lips pressed tight, saying nothing. Yet tears kept welling in his eyes.
Seeing Bao’er’s dishevelled hair, Mo Fan felt an inexplicable pang in his heart.
“Come here!”
Mo Fan beckoned to him.
Bao’er still dared not move, until Mo Fan smiled gently and said softly, “Bao’er, don’t you remember Brother Laibao anymore?”
“Brother Laibao…”
At those words, the light in Bao’er’s previously dull eyes suddenly brightened.
“You really are Brother Laibao?”
“No… you’re a demon… how could you be Brother Laibao!”
“I saw with my own eyes how you were laughing and talking with that wolf demon just now. How could you possibly be my Brother Laibao?!”
“You’re lying! You’re a big liar!!”
Bao’er grew more agitated as he spoke, backing away, his face full of fear.
“Actually, you already knew. From the very beginning, I told you that Brother Laibao really is a demon!”
Seeing this, Mo Fan gave a helpless sigh and smiled bitterly. “Do you still remember what you said the first time we met?”
“Brother Laibao remembers!”
“You said that even if I were a demon, I would still be a good demon!”
Bao’er froze completely. He stopped retreating and simply stared blankly at Mo Fan. Then he suddenly burst into loud sobs. Tears poured down his cheeks, and he looked utterly wronged.
Mo Fan sighed softly at the sight. With one step he appeared beside Bao’er. With a casual wave of his hand, a large robe appeared. He draped it directly over the boy, gently rubbed his head, and said, “Bao’er, don’t cry. Brother Laibao has come to save you!”
“Brother Laibao, my mama is gone!”
“The village is gone too!”
“Bao’er has no home anymore… waaaaah!!”
Perhaps realising Mo Fan would not harm him, Bao’er cried even harder, as though releasing all the grief he had bottled up for so long.
Hearing his heart-wrenching wails, the surrounding children seemed infected and began crying as well.
When the children cried, the women felt a stab of sorrow and started weeping too.
For a time, the entire mountain peak echoed with sobbing. Even Xiao Huang felt his head grow large from the noise.
Mo Fan did not stop them. He simply let them cry.
He understood that these people had suppressed too much for too long and desperately needed this release.
He waited quietly. Then his brows suddenly furrowed. A mass of black cloud was rapidly approaching from the horizon.
“Hahahaha… who would have thought there’d be so many two-legged sheep hiding down here? We really are lucky!”
“Exactly! If we bring these two-legged sheep back, the Great King is bound to reward us handsomely!”
The black cloud drew nearer and nearer. Laughter rang out from within, turning everyone on the peak pale. Even the crying stopped involuntarily.
“Demons!”
“It’s over, demons have caught up!”
Panic flashed across the women’s faces. They looked completely lost.
They wanted to flee, yet had nowhere to run.
The mountain offered an open view. Within a hundred metres there was not a single large tree to hide behind, and the dense forest lay hundreds of metres away. They would probably be snatched by the flying demons long before reaching it.
Moreover, even if they themselves could escape, what about the children?
“Benefactor, can you save these poor souls one more time?”
The woman in the floral skirt immediately looked at Mo Fan, pleading pitifully.
“Great King, shall I go scout the situation?”
Xiao Huang also turned to Mo Fan. He could naturally sense the auras within the demonic cloud and judged there was no Demon King among them.
Mo Fan shook his head. He looked up at the sky, said nothing more, and simply raised his hand to form a spell gesture, pointing repeatedly.
In an instant, beams of blinding white light shot from his fingertips, piercing straight through the demonic cloud.
Immediately afterwards, several corpses plummeted from the cloud and crashed to the ground.
