Heaven Devourer Chapter 88

West of the Demon Spirit Mountain Range.

Atop a high peak, Mo Fan sat cross-legged. With a flick of his mouth, two ginseng roots appeared.

These ginsengs were low-grade spiritual herbs, brimming with dense spiritual energy and potent medicinal effects, the hallmark of spiritual herbs.

Since the battle ended, Mo Fan had carried Lu Tantan westward for over a hundred miles before stopping.

His injuries had worsened, blood seeping out, leaving his face pale.

Mo Fan popped the two ginsengs into his mouth, chewing them roughly like a cow munching peonies, swallowing the bitter taste in one go.

Though spiritual herbs carried a faint fragrance, the taste was far from pleasant.

Soon, a surge of spiritual energy erupted in his abdomen, instantly absorbed into the sea of spiritual energy in his dantian.

A strong medicinal effect followed, nourishing his wounds.

Mo Fan felt an itch at the wound on his chest. Looking down, he saw the injury, which pierced through his chest and back, rapidly clotting at a visible rate.

Soon, no more blood flowed, and the wound began to scab over.

Mo Fan sighed in relief. This was only the second time in this world he’d suffered such a severe injury, and it taught him the fearsome power of human cultivators’ flying swords.

With a breath of turbid air, his pale face flushed with a hint of colour as the medicine took effect.

Once certain his injuries were stable, Mo Fan stood, casually hoisting the still-unconscious Lu Tantan, and dashed westward.

Before long, he spotted a short figure on a hillside.

“Master, you’re finally here!”

Pig Lord, who was setting up a pile of firewood, froze upon seeing Mo Fan, then broke into a delighted grin.

“What are you doing?”

Mo Fan asked curiously, his gaze catching a large dead deer nearby, clearly long gone.

“I waited for you, Master, but you didn’t show, so I hunted a wild deer to roast. Figured you’d want something to fill your stomach when you arrived,” Pig Lord said with a simple smile, then glanced at Lu Tantan on Mo Fan’s shoulder. “Master, is this lord dead?”

“Er… almost, but not quite. Get the fire going!”

“My stomach’s growling too.”

Mo Fan scratched his head, casually tossing Lu Tantan to the side!

“Ah!”

A squeal like a slaughtered pig rang out.

The two demons froze, looking at Lu Tantan, who had rolled his eyes and fainted again.

“Master, it seems this lord was jabbed by a rock…” Pig Lord said, his face twitching.

“No worries, this guy’s at the late Demon Ding stage. He’s got a tough life, he won’t die!”

Mo Fan spoke calmly, shifting his gaze. Seeing Pig Lord still standing there, he frowned. “Why haven’t you started the fire?”

“I… I don’t know how to make a fire…”

Pig Lord looked sheepish, a trace of embarrassment on his face. “I always ate raw before.”

“Then why bother with firewood?!” Mo Fan said, a bit exasperated.

“I thought a great demon like you, Master, is more human-like, so you probably wouldn’t like raw food…”

“Though I can’t start a fire, I knew you could, so I prepared the stuff…”

Pig Lord looked at Mo Fan eagerly, his voice soft.

“Sigh, watch closely. Your Master will teach you how to start a fire by rubbing sticks!”

Mo Fan sighed and got to work, while Pig Lord watched intently.

In about half a quarter-hour, Mo Fan had the fire going, flames dancing on the firewood. He couldn’t help but envy human cultivators who could cast fireball spells.

That was the ultimate barbecue skill!

“I wonder if any demons awaken fire-related abilities…” Mo Fan mused.

The roasting meat soon filled the air with aroma. Too hungry to care if it was fully cooked, Mo Fan rolled up his sleeves and dug in.

After a fierce battle and a hundred-mile trek while injured, he was starving.

“You eat too, don’t be shy!”

Seeing Pig Lord swallowing hard, Mo Fan rolled his eyes.

“Oh, alright, Master!”

With permission, Pig Lord dove in, grease dripping from his mouth, exclaiming, “Delicious!”

Having only eaten raw meat before, how could he have tasted the wonder of roasted meat?

Especially since Mo Fan had sprinkled on plenty of seasonings, making it a feast for the senses.

Mo Fan had just finished two leg portions and was reaching for a third when a figure suddenly appeared, devouring the roasted deer like a starving ghost reborn.

“Lu Tantan, when did you wake up?” Mo Fan stared, shocked, at the charcoal-black figure.

“Just… just now… Damn it, I’m starving, and you lot started eating without me!”

Lu Tantan grumbled, not slowing his eating, then shouted, “Lai Bao, got any monkey wine left? If you do, hand it over. Your Deer Lord’s taken a beating this time, still aching all over. Get the spirit wine out to help me recover!”

“You put it like that, even if I didn’t have any, I’d have to,” Mo Fan said, relieved to see Lu Tantan in good spirits, though he was also impressed.

He was certain this guy’s injuries were far worse than his own, his demonic energy nearly dissipated, one foot in the grave.

Yet he’d pulled through!

Mo Fan figured this guy must’ve been a cockroach demon in his past life!

Not stingy, Mo Fan took out the last of his monkey wine, drinking heartily with Lu Tantan. Pig Lord benefited too, breaking through to his fourth demon transformation.

*Burp*… “Lai… Lai Bao, what’s this meat? Why’s it so good?” Lu Tantan, cheeks flushed and slightly drunk, asked.

“Deer meat!” Mo Fan grinned.

“What!”

“Deer meat?!”

Lu Tantan’s eyes widened, visibly agitated, but the next moment, he collapsed, snoring loudly.

Mo Fan shook his head. He’d long noticed this guy’s poor tolerance for alcohol, worse even than the female demon He Feifei.

After a hearty meal, Mo Fan had Pig Lord carry Lu Tantan as they continued toward Black Wind Mountain.

For some reason, Mo Fan felt the Demon Spirit Mountain Range wasn’t safe anymore.

He’d encountered Mo Yan, Black Fox Demon, and the scholar Qin Changsheng before, and now these rogue cultivators. To Mo Fan, only returning to Black Wind Mountain would ensure his safety.

After a full day’s travel, late at night, Mo Fan finally saw the familiar Black Wind Mountain!

“Master, is this Black Wind Mountain?”

“What a huge mountain!”

“Are there really lots of demons here?”

“By the way, do demons eat other demons?”

“My meat’s no good, it’s sour!”

“Really, Master, don’t you believe me?”

“…”
