Li Feng was unaware of Master Wen and Butler Wu’s discussion. At that moment, he and Tianlang fought side by side, cutting through Iron Stone’s Dark Hall with relentless slaughter.
Both Li Feng and Tianlang were drenched in blood. The dozen or so Black Hawk Team members around them were all injured, while before them lay a dense pile of corpses and rivers of blood.
Li Feng’s face was expressionless. He had already gone through several steel blades. He knew that killing so many would draw government attention, but when he arrived at the scene, he realized the situation was beyond control. He couldn’t let the Black Hawk Team, which he had painstakingly trained, die here. The only way was to stop killing with killing.
Like a god of death, Li Feng moved through the crowd. Each step was accompanied by a scream and a Black Stone Gang member’s body hitting the ground. To end this quickly, he held nothing back.
Tianlang and the Black Hawk Team were stunned, watching Li Feng in awe. It wasn’t like he was killing—it was like a performance of art. They knew Li Feng was strong, but they hadn’t realized just how powerful he was.
“Retreat!” Iron Stone, with a deep gash across his chest from Li Feng’s blade, gave the order. If he hadn’t fled quickly, he might already be dead.
Li Feng’s strength was beyond expectation. Watching his brothers fall one by one, Iron Stone didn’t hesitate to call for a retreat.
As the enemy withdrew, Li Feng stopped Tianlang and the others from pursuing. “Contact the brothers watching Linghe Garden and the Emperor Pavilion immediately. I want to know what Master Wen and the Emperor Pavilion are doing.”
The Black Hawk Team members were all injured, their combat strength severely diminished. Li Feng didn’t want them to throw their lives away. He’d have to find another way to deal with Master Wen and the Emperor Pavilion.
Moreover, the immediate priority was cleaning up the battlefield. With so many dead, it was impossible to avoid police attention. He had to handle this before they arrived.
Tianlang quickly made calls to the brothers monitoring Linghe Garden and the Emperor Pavilion. He was furious. This was the Black Hawk Team’s first mission, and they had nearly been wiped out. As their leader, he bore undeniable responsibility.
After finishing the calls, Tianlang reported to Li Feng, “Young Master Feng, there’s no movement from the Emperor Pavilion, but Master Wen just contacted Wang Xiong.”
“Wang Xiong didn’t slip up, did he?” Li Feng asked, narrowing his eyes.
“No, Wang Xiong said Master Wen ordered him to act quickly and keep you in Tianhai City,” Tianlang replied.
“Keep me in Tianhai City? Does Master Wen have the strength for that?” Li Feng’s gaze was icy. After hearing Tianlang’s report, he said calmly, “Tianlang, take the brothers back to the training base. I’m going to meet Master Wen.”
“Young Master Feng, that’s too dangerous,” Tianlang said, alarmed. Though Li Feng was strong, Master Wen had skilled protectors. Two fists couldn’t match four hands.
“It’s decided. The police will be here soon. You all leave immediately.” Li Feng’s gaze swept over Tianlang and the Black Hawk Team. Though they’d been ambushed, their weak combat strength was a major factor. Even with only the Black Stone Gang involved and no action from the Emperor Pavilion, the team had nearly suffered catastrophic losses. This disappointed him. Their poor performance was partly because he’d underestimated the Black Stone Gang, but it was also due to the team’s inadequacy. It was clear they needed much more training.
“Yes, sir.” Tianlang didn’t hesitate, leading the dozen Black Hawk Team members out of the warehouse.
Looking up at the sky, a cold smirk curved Li Feng’s lips. Master Wen was indeed a formidable figure, a veteran warlord of Tianhai City. He had anticipated Li Feng’s counterattack and set up an ambush near Linghe Garden. If not for the half-month of training, Tianlang and the others might already be dead.
If Master Wen had succeeded, it would’ve been like cutting off Li Feng’s arm. Rebuilding a Black Hawk Team would be no easy task.
Taking a deep breath, a cold glint flashed in Li Feng’s eyes. “Master Wen, I’ll make you pay a heavy price.”
—
At Linghe Garden, Master Wen paced the hall, a stark contrast to his earlier smugness. Now, he was visibly uneasy.
After his discussion with Butler Wu, he had called Iron Stone and Wang Xiong. Wang Xiong had promised to deal with Li Feng immediately, but Iron Stone delivered shocking news.
Not only had Iron Stone failed to wipe out the attackers, but his Dark Hall had suffered heavy losses under their counterattack.
*Tap, tap, tap…*
Footsteps approached. Master Wen turned to see Iron Stone, bloodstained and disheveled, at the entrance.
“What happened? Weren’t those attackers defenseless?” Master Wen asked coldly. This failed ambush would ruin the Black Stone Gang’s reputation in Tianhai City, leaving them vulnerable to even minor players.
“Master Wen,” Iron Stone said, lowering his head in shame. As the top expert of the Dark Hall, he had always considered himself exceptional. But today, he learned there were always stronger opponents.
“Master Wen, they got reinforcements.”
“Reinforcements?” Master Wen’s pupils shrank, his expression shifting. He had seen the attackers’ strength firsthand. If more arrived, Iron Stone’s Dark Hall wouldn’t stand a chance.
“How many reinforcements?” he asked.
“O-one,” Iron Stone said, barely able to speak from shame. A single person had defeated his Dark Hall. If he hadn’t seen it himself, he wouldn’t have believed it.
“What, one?” Master Wen’s eyes blazed with anger as he glared at Iron Stone, his fury mounting. “You’re saying one person crushed your Dark Hall? Since when did your men become such trash?”
“Master Wen…” Iron Stone hung his head in shame.
Master Wen stared at him coldly for a moment before saying, “Tell me exactly what happened.”
Iron Stone recounted everything that happened at the warehouse without embellishment, describing Li Feng’s actions with a look of fear. “If not for Li Feng turning the tide, single-handedly slaughtering our men, the Dark Hall wouldn’t have collapsed so quickly.”
“Master Wen, this man was too strong. I couldn’t last three moves against him,” Iron Stone said, revealing a deep, bone-exposing wound on his body. “This is what he left on me. If I hadn’t reacted quickly, I’d likely be…”
“How is this possible…” Master Wen was in disbelief. He never imagined his flawless plan would be ruined by one person. One person defeating the entire Dark Hall? It was unthinkable.
“Do you know who this person is?” Master Wen asked hoarsely.
“Master Wen, the attackers called him Young Master Feng,” Iron Stone replied.
“Young Master Feng? Li Feng? How could it be Li Feng?” Master Wen’s face changed, filled with disbelief. Though Li Feng wasn’t the useless figure of legend, how could he have such formidable skills?
“Li Feng, it can’t be him. It’s impossible,” Master Wen muttered to himself. If Li Feng was truly this strong, sending Wang Xiong to stop him was tantamount to suicide.
With that thought, Master Wen grabbed his phone to call Wang Xiong.
“Master Wen, it’s too late,” Butler Wu said, appearing beside him. “I just got word that two and a half hours ago, Li Feng took people to Tianya Pavilion.”
“What?” Master Wen’s face darkened as he glared at Butler Wu. “Such critical information, and you’re only telling me now?”
Butler Wu lowered his head in shame. He had known about Li Feng’s move on Tianya Pavilion two and a half hours ago but didn’t think Li Feng could do much with Wang Xiong and two hundred elites there, so he hadn’t informed Master Wen.
Now, if Iron Stone’s account was true, with Li Feng’s strength, Tianya Pavilion might already be under his control. That meant half an hour ago, when they called Wang Xiong, he might already have been captured by Li Feng’s men.
With Wang Xiong’s two hundred elites gone and Iron Stone’s Dark Hall decimated, the Black Stone Gang was a shell of its former self. Though it claimed tens of thousands of members, the rest were mere rabble, incapable of significant action.
Master Wen slumped onto the sofa, looking at Butler Wu. “Old friend, is this the end for our Black Stone Gang?”
Butler Wu sighed. “Master Wen, until the final moment, no one knows who will prevail. Though we’ve suffered heavy losses, don’t forget the Emperor Pavilion. They want Li Feng dead just as much as we do. Before we acted, they were already after his life. If we can hold out until the Emperor Pavilion makes its move, we might turn this around.”
“The Emperor Pavilion?” Master Wen sneered dismissively. With such a major operation, the Emperor Pavilion had done nothing. They were clearly sitting back, perhaps hoping the Black Stone Gang and Li Feng would destroy each other, leaving them to clean up.
Taking a deep breath, Master Wen said, “Old friend, arrange for Xu’er to leave.”
Butler Wu replied, “Master Wen, you know Xu’er. He won’t leave at a time like this.”
Master Wen shook his head. “No, Xu’er is my only son. I can die, but he cannot. He must not stay here to die.”
Butler Wu looked deeply at Master Wen. “Rest assured, Master Wen, I’ll arrange it. But I believe the Black Stone Gang won’t fall.” In his heart, Butler Wu had another plan—one that might save the Black Stone Gang if it succeeded.
