“To work, what else would I be here for?”
Li Feng turned to see Hu Yuanyuan stepping out of the lift with a few others. Hu Yuanyuan was dressed in a sharp business suit, exuding a mature charm that made his heart skip a beat.
“Hmph, you, here to work?”
Hu Yuanyuan looked sceptical. She had asked Li Feng to come work before, but each time he brushed it off. Though she had invited him again, she didn’t truly believe he’d show up at the company. Given Li Feng’s personality, he barely spoke to strangers, let alone dealt with so many at a company.
In Hu Yuanyuan’s view, Li Feng’s presence at the company had another motive.
Could it be…
Her gaze fell on the receptionist, a young woman in her twenties, pretty and likable. Could Li Feng have taken a fancy to her?
At that thought, for some reason, Hu Yuanyuan felt a sour pang in her heart.
“Of course, you invited me, how could I not come? But meeting you is such a hassle, if you hadn’t shown up, I’d have had to call you,” Li Feng said helplessly.
His words stunned everyone except Hu Yuanyuan. Who was Hu Yuanyuan? The president of Xiangfeng Investment Company, under whose leadership the company’s value had multiplied tenfold in a year, making it a renowned investment firm in Tianhai City. In Tianhai’s financial circles, who didn’t give Hu Yuanyuan a thumbs-up?
Yet this Li Feng was personally invited by Hu Yuanyuan. Could he be even more impressive than her? Why else would she invite him?
The receptionist, in particular, turned pale.
“Since you’re here, come with me to meet someone,” Hu Yuanyuan said, not overthinking it. However, she wasn’t entirely comfortable leaving Li Feng at the company, so she spoke up.
Boom!
The receptionist showed little reaction, but the faces of the others behind Hu Yuanyuan changed drastically. They knew how important the person Hu Yuanyuan was meeting was to Xiangfeng Investment Company’s future. Even they, as non-executives, wouldn’t have the chance to meet this person. Who was this Li Feng, that Hu Yuanyuan would invite him along right after his arrival?
“Alright,” Li Feng responded calmly, smiling at the receptionist, “Don’t forget our bet.” Ignoring her flushed face, he walked toward Hu Yuanyuan.
Only then did Li Feng take a closer look at the man and two women following Hu Yuanyuan. The man, about thirty, wore a suit and gold-rimmed glasses, looking refined.
One of the women was tall, with porcelain-like skin and deep, captivating eyes that shimmered as she moved. Her hair was styled in a high, loose bun, and she wore a black silk business suit, radiating cold elegance, her entire appearance meticulously perfect.
The other woman wore a cream-coloured business suit with matching high heels, giving her a graceful, ethereal air, like a fairy untouched by the mundane world.
“Hello everyone, I’m Li Feng,” Li Feng said with a smile, greeting the three before asking Hu Yuanyuan, “President Hu, who are we meeting?”
“Su Yang,” Hu Yuanyuan replied with two words, walking toward the door without another word.
Su Yang? Who’s that?
Li Feng was puzzled, but seeing Hu Yuanyuan already at the door, he quickly followed.
At the company entrance, two cars were waiting. Hu Yuanyuan approached one, and the woman in the cream suit opened the door for her. Hu Yuanyuan got in, and the woman went to the other side to sit. The other two entered the second car.
“Damn.”
Li Feng, just reaching the door, was stunned. He had hoped to ride with Hu Yuanyuan, but now only the front passenger seats were left. Kicking the woman out would hardly be gentlemanly.
As Li Feng hesitated, the cars started. Cursing under his breath, he got into his QQ and followed.
The cars stopped at the parking lot of Yuxuan Tower. Hu Yuanyuan stepped out, noticing Li Feng’s QQ leisurely pulling into the lot, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. She knew Li Feng had bought a QQ, but she hadn’t expected it to keep up with her Porsche.
“Let’s go.”
Hu Yuanyuan led the group into Yuxuan Tower, heading for the Earth-tier private room.
Yuxuan Tower, a prestigious celebrity club in Tianhai City, was divided into four tiers: Heaven, Earth, Mysterious, and Yellow. Even with Hu Yuanyuan’s status in Tianhai, she could only book an Earth-tier room.
The Earth-tier wasn’t just one room but twenty, numbered Earth One, Earth Two, and so on.
Earth One to Earth Ten were exclusive rooms, not open to outsiders. This time, Hu Yuanyuan had booked Earth Eighteen.
Yuxuan Tower was lavishly decorated, a dazzling display of opulence. Though Li Feng came from a future world, where he spent most of his time cultivating or in the military, this seemingly ancient grandeur still left him in awe.
“Don’t speak out of turn later,” Hu Yuanyuan whispered to Li Feng before entering the room.
Inside, Li Feng saw two people seated: an old man in black and a young man in his twenties.
“Old Su, hello,” Hu Yuanyuan greeted, approaching the old man in black and bowing respectfully.
“Little Hu, sit,” the old man nodded at Hu Yuanyuan, ignoring Li Feng and the others. A few minor employees weren’t worth his attention.
Li Feng thought to himself, this old man must be the Su Yang Hu Yuanyuan mentioned, but he had no memory of him.
“Thank you, Old Su.”
“President Hu, hello. I’m in charge of this negotiation,” the young man beside Su Yang said, his eyes burning as he looked at Hu Yuanyuan. He was Su Yang’s grandson, Su Xin, recently returned from the US. He’d met Hu Yuanyuan at a gathering, was smitten, and pursued her relentlessly, only to be rebuffed at every turn.
This time, his grandfather’s collaboration with Hu Yuanyuan was, in his view, a chance to get closer to her. He’d gone to great lengths to convince Su Yang to let him represent the talks.
Hu Yuanyuan nodded, saying, “Young Master Su, this time we’re here to…”
“President Hu, my grandfather’s smart chip technology is the most advanced in the world. Many companies want it. While Xiangfeng Investment Company is good, it’s far behind established tech giants, so I find your terms unsuitable.”
Before Hu Yuanyuan could finish, Su Xin interrupted, “If you want my grandfather’s smart chip technology, we need fifty percent of Xiangfeng Investment Company’s shares.”
Hu Yuanyuan’s expression shifted, “Old Su, is this your intention?”
Su Yang remained silent.
Su Xin smiled, “President Hu, this is our bottom line. I believe you’ll make the right choice.”
