Damn it, I actually forgot about the sniper’s existence.
Li Feng’s face turned ashen. Although these masked men were formidable, even with guns, dealing with them was well within his capabilities. But he had overlooked the snipers lurking in the shadows. The sniper rifle bullets had powerful armor-piercing capabilities. He was flesh and blood, how could he withstand a sniper bullet?
He had only paused slightly earlier, and the sniper had seized the opportunity. If not for his quick reaction, that shot would have taken his life.
“Die.” The masked man sneered, charging at Li Feng with a long knife in one hand and a pistol in the other.
As the masked man advanced, the gun in his hand fired relentlessly at Li Feng. Not only him, but the surrounding masked men also reacted, their guns unleashing a barrage. The dense bullets rained down on Li Feng like a storm. At that moment, he had no way up to heaven, no door down to earth.
“Damn it!”
A chilling killing intent flashed in the depths of Li Feng’s eyes. His movements were swift. He stomped the ground and leapt high, while a dagger shot from his hand.
Whoosh…
The dagger pierced a masked man’s chest like lightning. The masked man collapsed without a sound.
Li Feng was in mid-air, unable to borrow force. He also knew he couldn’t linger in the air, or he’d become a sitting target for the snipers.
Without time to think, Li Feng twisted in the air, landing and rolling on the ground.
“You’re not getting away today.” The masked man sneered disdainfully, stomping the ground with a burst of powerful thrust, propelling his figure several meters forward.
With a few leaps, he closed in behind Li Feng, enveloping him in chilling killing intent. The long knife slashed viciously toward Li Feng’s shoulder.
“You want to kill me? Let’s see if you have what it takes.” Li Feng tapped his toe on a nearby flower bed, borrowing force to twist his body ninety degrees, barely dodging the incoming slash.
“Who are you people? Why do you want to kill me?” Li Feng asked while evading, nursing a gunshot wound and fatigued from prolonged combat. His internal true qi was nearly depleted, and he needed time to recover.
“You don’t need to know. We’re just taking money to eliminate a threat. Someone wants you dead.” The masked man seemed to think Li Feng was at the end of his rope, his urgency to kill easing. In his view, Li Feng’s death was certain today.
“So, you’re in it for the money? Who’s the mastermind? I’ll pay ten times the amount.” Li Feng said while restoring his true qi, raising his voice.
“Ten times? After killing so many of our brothers, do you think I’ll let you go?” The masked man sneered coldly. With only four or five of their dozen brothers left, his eyes held nothing but chilling killing intent toward Li Feng.
“So, you’re not planning to let me go?” Li Feng’s voice turned cold. He slowly raised his palm, faint true qi light flickering in his center.
“Hahaha, why should I agree? You’re doomed today.” The masked man laughed coldly, raising his long knife high and slashing down at Li Feng like lightning.
“Then die!” A sharp glint flashed in Li Feng’s eyes as he struck with a palm. Powerful palm force erupted, a terrifying aura instantly filling the area.
“Hmph, do you have what it takes? Die.” The masked man snorted coldly, his knife’s momentum unchecked, slashing down at Li Feng’s head. If it connected, his skull would split open.
“Mountain Toppling Sea Overturning~”
Li Feng thrust his palm forward fiercely. The palm wind carried terrifying true qi. As the masked man’s knife neared, Li Feng’s palm slammed into his chest. In the masked man’s incredulous gaze, he was sent flying backward.
Li Feng didn’t pause, stomping the ground and swiftly leaving his position.
Bang…
Just as Li Feng moved, a sniper bullet struck where he had stood, less than a second apart.
“What the hell was that?” The masked man felt a heavy blow to his chest, his bones shattered. Amidst the pain, his rage intensified. This time, he wouldn’t give Li Feng any chance.
“Figure it out in hell.” Li Feng sneered, swiping his hand as several silver gleams flashed.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…
Daggers shot out, piercing the masked man’s chest and throat before he could react.
“How…” The masked man stared at Li Feng in disbelief, his head lolling to the side in death, his eyes filled with unwillingness and horror. Even in death, he couldn’t comprehend how Li Feng had so many daggers or how he had shattered his bones from afar.
“Hmph!”
Li Feng sneered, rolling on the ground to dodge incoming bullets.
He looked up, his gaze icy as he eyed the three remaining masked men. Picking up a gun from the ground, he raised it and fired.
Bang!
One masked man fell with a thud.
The other two exchanged glances, fear in their eyes, turning to flee without a thought.
“Too late to run.”
Li Feng sneered coldly, firing twice more.
Bang! Bang!
One shot hit a masked man squarely, dropping him. The other had ducked behind the large truck as Li Feng fired, the bullet only hitting the vehicle.
“Damn it!” Li Feng cursed, tossing the gun aside. If the bullet hadn’t been so slow, that masked man would be dead. He should have known the gun was useless compared to his daggers!
In truth, Li Feng didn’t realize the handgun, though not the most advanced, was decent. He was used to laser guns from his previous life and unfamiliar with these primitive firearms.
“Two snipers left. Have they retreated?” Li Feng didn’t dare be careless, quickly finding a blind spot to hide. He didn’t want to give the snipers any opportunity. Earlier carelessness had cost him a bullet wound.
Touching his chest, Li Feng frowned. When the bullet came, he had retreated half a step and mobilized true qi to resist as it entered. Still, it penetrated, though fortunately without damaging bones or organs.
“I can’t underestimate this era’s firearms.” Li Feng thought. He had always dismissed them as primitive, but now he had to revise his view. Unless he reached a level impervious to bullets, he must take them seriously.
The sounds of gunfire, shouts, and groans gradually faded away. Only the lingering faint smell of gunpowder indicated a fierce battle had just occurred.
The intersection was littered with bodies sprawled in disarray, the pungent stench of blood nauseating.
Police always arrived late to the scene. Seeing the bodies strewn about, many officers’ faces changed. Some even squatted by the roadside, vomiting.
He Zhiwu’s face was ashen as he walked past the corpses. As captain of Tianhai City’s criminal investigation team, he had never imagined such a major murder case in Tianhai City. The impact on the city would be immense.
“Captain, at least a dozen dead.” A detective whispered beside He Zhiwu, his face pale, eyes flashing with fear as he eyed the bodies.
He Zhiwu asked expressionlessly, “Any idea who they are?”
“Not yet identified, but their deaths are strange.” The detective replied.
“What’s strange?” He Zhiwu squatted by a body.
“Captain, look, their fatal wounds are from flying daggers.” The detective pointed to a dagger in the body’s chest.
“Flying daggers?” He Zhiwu paused, examining the dagger closely, his expression turning shocked. All dozen dead from flying daggers? How was that possible? Did such dagger skills exist in the world?
“Captain, this must be Little Li Flying Dagger.” The detective thought of the TV show, saying excitedly, “Little Li Flying Dagger, never misses. Each of these dozen has one dagger, no extras. It must be Little Li Flying Dagger.”
Slap!
He Zhiwu slapped the detective’s face, saying coldly, “Little Li Flying Dagger? What nonsense. Are we filming a TV drama?”
The detective lowered his head, muttering, “It is Little Li Flying Dagger. Who else has such dagger skills?”
“You dare talk back?” He Zhiwu glared.
Examining the bullet casings, He Zhiwu asked another detective, “Old Wu, what do you think?”
“Captain, from these casings, the bullets came from the victims’ handguns, plus sniper rifles.” Old Wu answered.
“Sniper rifles.” He Zhiwu’s expression grew grave. He hadn’t expected snipers.
“From the bullet scatter angles, at least two sniper rifles.” Old Wu pointed in two directions, saying, “Large-caliber snipers, sealing the intersection from two sides. Whoever they targeted, they set up this kill zone meticulously.”
“Shu Wei, Wang Xiaojing, check if the snipers are still at those spots.” He Zhiwu called two detectives, not daring to be careless.
“Yes, sir.”
“Bring up surveillance from all intersections.” He Zhiwu ordered.
“Yes.” A detective responded promptly.
At that moment, a voice called, “Captain, there’s someone here.”
He Zhiwu turned quickly, while officers drew their guns, pointing in that direction.
“Don’t move!”
