Hidden Dragon Heir Chapter 13

“Li Feng, you’ve caused a huge mess. Do you even know who Su Yang is?”

At the entrance of Yuxuan Tower, Hu Yuanyuan said to Li Feng with some anger, “He’s a professor at Tianhai University. No one in Tianhai City dares to be so rude to him. You’re bringing trouble to the company.”

“Relax, he’s just an old man who doesn’t act his age. What tricks could he pull?” Li Feng said nonchalantly, “A smart chip, and he really thinks it’s some treasure. Where does the old guy get his confidence?”

“What do you know? The smart chip Old Su developed is the most advanced in the world, even better than foreign ones. If we could get it, our company could rise rapidly in a short time. Now, thanks to you, it’s ruined. With Old Su’s temper, cooperation is impossible,” Hu Yuanyuan said irritably.

“Cooperation? Were they ever sincere about it? Don’t tell me you didn’t see through it. I know what Su Xin is up to. His intentions aren’t pure. Hmph, who does he think he is? My woman is off-limits to him.”

Li Feng sneered, adding, “As for the smart chip, I can handle it.”

“You handle it? How?” Hu Yuanyuan said sceptically. Having known Li Feng for so long, she knew his capabilities. Now that he’d messed things up, she could only think of other solutions.

“You’ll see soon enough. Does the company have a lab? Take me there now,” Li Feng said.

“What are you planning?” Hu Yuanyuan asked, puzzled.

Li Feng just smiled without answering.

Li Feng’s plan to solve the smart chip issue in the lab seemed like nonsense to Hu Yuanyuan. She had plenty of company matters to handle and couldn’t waste time with his antics, so she arranged for her assistant, Xu Qing, to take him to the lab while she returned to the company with the others.

Li Feng had no objections. He wanted to change Hu Yuanyuan’s view of him through actions. Watching her leave, he turned to Xu Qing and said, “Assistant Xu, let’s go.”

Xu Qing was the woman in the cream-coloured business suit. Only now did Li Feng take a good look at her.

Her ink-black hair framed a slightly thin face without makeup, long lashes fluttering over clear, bright eyes. Her soft lips were pressed together nervously, like a glossy red cherry, tempting one to taste. Her knee-length skirt revealed straight, slender legs with fair, almost translucent skin.

Admittedly, Xu Qing was a rare beauty, though slightly less striking than Hu Yuanyuan. In Li Feng’s eyes, she exuded a classical charm.

Yes, classical charm. In Li Feng’s era, everything was centuries more advanced, including fashion. Xu Qing’s business suit was something he’d only seen in museums.

Xu Qing nodded and got into Li Feng’s QQ. As Hu Yuanyuan’s assistant, she knew a bit more about Li Feng, suspecting he might be Hu Yuanyuan’s mysterious boyfriend.

On the way, Li Feng learned more about the smart chip from Xu Qing, who spoke freely, knowing his special status.

The company’s lab was in a suburban area of Tianhai City, where the company owned a large factory for smartphone production and processing. The so-called smart chip was essentially a phone chip.

A year ago, Hu Yuanyuan had invested tens of millions in smartphone chip research, but the results were lacklustre. Hearing that Professor Su Yang from Tianhai University had developed a new smart chip, she sought cooperation. She hadn’t expected Su Yang’s terms to be so steep, nor for Li Feng to recklessly ruin things.

“President Li, can you really solve the smart chip issue?” Xu Qing asked curiously. This was her first time meeting Li Feng, and she found him arrogant yet mysterious.

“You’ll see soon enough. We’re here,” Li Feng said with a smile, stopping the car.

“Here?” Xu Qing was surprised. She’d been to the company lab before, and even with Hu Yuanyuan’s Porsche, it took about half an hour. But from Yuxuan Tower to here, Li Feng’s QQ had made it in just over ten minutes. Since when was a QQ so fast?

Looking up, she saw the familiar company factory and the security guard at the gate.

How was this possible? Even a Porsche needed over twenty minutes from Yuxuan Tower. How could a QQ outpace it? If she hadn’t experienced it herself, Xu Qing would’ve thought it was a joke.

“Assistant Xu, let’s get out,” Li Feng said.

“Oh, alright,” Xu Qing replied. No wonder she was stunned; she was the first to ride in Li Feng’s modified car. In terms of performance, his car could be called the world’s best.

In the car, Xu Qing’s eyes lingered on the unremarkable QQ. It looked ordinary, but thinking back, there was no discomfort riding in it, and it was even more comfortable than a Porsche.

“Assistant Xu, take me to the lab.”

Li Feng’s words snapped Xu Qing out of her thoughts. Burying her doubts, she led him toward the lab.

The lab was behind the office building, a standalone structure.

In the lab’s meeting room, team leader Lin Sheng sat in the centre, his face stern and his gaze cold.

“Captain Lin, are we really leaving?”

A man in his thirties, Yu Ping, the lab’s second-in-command with a knack for smart chip research, approached with hesitation.

“Yu Ping, that was Young Master Su’s call. With his guarantee, why are you still hesitating?” Lin Sheng said, visibly displeased.

Besides Lin Sheng and Yu Ping, about a dozen others sat in the room, all elite researchers who’d made significant contributions to smart chip development. Now, they faced a tough choice due to a call five minutes earlier.

It was from Su Yang’s grandson, Young Master Su, urging them to leave Xiangfeng Investment Company with the promise of guidance from Professor Su Yang himself.

“You don’t want to leave?”

Lin Sheng, the undisputed leader who prided himself as Su Yang’s student (though he’d only attended one of Su’s classes), saw this as a chance to shine before Su Yang. He intended to take the entire lab with him.

He’d expected his authority to rally everyone, but to his surprise, the researchers fell silent after he stated his purpose.

This soured his mood, and his tone grew sharp.

Lin Sheng’s tone made Yu Ping frown slightly, but he calmly said, “I think there’s no need to leave. Xiangfeng Investment Company treats us well, and as long as we develop the new…”

“Shut up.”

Before Yu Ping could finish, Lin Sheng cut him off.

Glaring at Yu Ping, Lin Sheng said angrily, “Yu Ping, what’s that supposed to mean? Are you defying my decision? Leaving means getting Professor Su’s guidance, a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Don’t you want it?”

Yu Ping’s frown deepened. He opened his mouth but ultimately stayed silent.

He wasn’t the only one. Others remained quiet too.

Compared to Su’s guidance, they valued their jobs more. Finding a good job in Tianhai City wasn’t easy, and they didn’t want to risk losing it for some guidance.

The room’s silence fueled Lin Sheng’s anger.

He felt his authority was being challenged, something he wouldn’t tolerate. His cold gaze swept over everyone as he asked icily, “You don’t want to leave either, do you?”

“Captain, wherever you go, I’ll follow.”

“Me too, Captain, we’re with you.”

“…”

In an instant, the lab’s researchers split into two groups: those supporting Lin Sheng and those backing Yu Ping.

Seeing less than half supported him, Lin Sheng felt his authority severely challenged. Just as he was about to lose his temper, the meeting room door swung open, and a stranger’s voice rang out:

“Who’s leaving?”
