Hidden Dragon Heir Chapter 133

“So boring!”

Li Feng lay on the hospital bed, staring at the plain white ceiling, sighing heavily. It had been three hours since Hu Yuanyuan left, and night had fallen. Thanks to the *Nine Heavens Heart Sutra*, his wound was nearly healed. Honestly, he could leave the hospital now.

But he had been shot by a sniper rifle. If the doctors discovered he’d recovered so quickly, they might treat him like a lab rat.

More importantly, Li Feng didn’t *want* to leave. He wanted to see if those assassins would dare come for him in the hospital.

His decision was partly due to Hu Yuanyuan. If he went home, he’d be with her, and facing assassins while protecting her would tie his hands. In the hospital, without her around, he could fight freely with his recovery ability.

As for the police guarding him outside, Li Feng dismissed them entirely. Their skills were inferior even to regular soldiers, far outclassed by the masked attackers from earlier. Relying on them for protection was a joke—they wouldn’t even know how they died.

Sitting up against the pillow, Li Feng took out his phone and sent a few messages to Tian Lang and others.

Finding the culprits with just the police was impossible. While using the police, he’d also rely on Tian Lang and his team.

After finishing, boredom set in again. With nothing else to do, he opened his phone’s reading app and started a novel called *God-Level Powerhouse in the City*.

*Tap, tap, tap…*

Footsteps echoed from the corridor outside. Li Feng set his phone down, instantly alert, eyes fixed on the door.

Lacking x-ray vision, he couldn’t see who approached, but he didn’t dare let his guard down. If it was an assassin and he was unprepared, he might end up in trouble.

Since the police had taken his throwing knives, he grabbed a fruit knife from the bedside.

With a creak, the door opened. Three people entered: one was Shu Wei, a police officer assigned to protect him; the other two were strangers.

“Li Feng…”

Before Shu Wei could speak, a bald young man interrupted, “Officer Shu, please step outside.”

“Uh, alright.” Shu Wei hesitated, nodded, and left the room.

Li Feng eyed the bald youth with surprise, wondering about his identity. Shu Wei was a minor captain in the criminal investigation team, yet this man dismissed him with a single sentence. He clearly had some influence.

“Li Feng?” The bald youth grinned at him, his eyes gleaming as if he’d spotted a rare beast.

Li Feng frowned. “Who are you?”

“I’m Fo Zhu,” the bald youth said with a chuckle.

“Buddha?” Li Feng blinked, sizing him up. “Are you Shakyamuni Buddha or Tathagata? Doesn’t seem like it. Both are supposed to be handsome, not… like you.”

“Pfft, it’s *Zhu* as in bamboo!” Fo Zhu corrected, his face darkening.

“I was gonna say, you’re not exactly good-looking,” Li Feng said, smirking. “So, what do you want?”

“I’m from the National Security Bureau,” Fo Zhu introduced himself.

“National Security Bureau? Never heard of it.” Despite his words, Li Feng was inwardly shocked. The NSB was China’s special agency, especially formidable centuries later in his previous life, when it was an all-pervasive force. He’d dealt with them before and knew their power.

But now, the NSB was only a few decades old—a toddler compared to its future self, far less fearsome in his eyes.

“Li Feng, I don’t believe you haven’t heard of the NSB,” Fo Zhu sneered dismissively. The young master of the Li family not knowing the NSB? Who’d buy that?

“Don’t believe me? Fine, I don’t care,” Li Feng said, lying back on the bed. He had no interest in dealing with the NSB, even this era’s version. But why had his case drawn their attention?

“Heh, Li Feng, you’ve got character,” Fo Zhu said, unfazed, still smiling.

“I need to rest. If there’s nothing else, please leave,” Li Feng said bluntly.

Fo Zhu chuckled, pulled up a chair, and sat by the bed, smiling at Li Feng. “Li Feng, I admire you. Who’d have thought the Li family’s young master was hiding so deep, fooling the whole world?”

“Fooling the world? Fo Zhu, you can eat nonsense, but don’t spout it. When did I ever fool anyone?” Li Feng glared at him, displeased. From the moment Fo Zhu sat down, he knew getting rid of him quickly wasn’t happening.

But why was the NSB of this era meddling in his affairs? Were they that idle?

“Isn’t it true? Everyone knows you as a useless failure, the infamous ‘Trash Li Feng.’ But now? If you’re trash, then the whole world must be,” Fo Zhu said with a grin.

“When did I ever call myself trash?” Li Feng countered.

“Uh…” Fo Zhu paused, realizing Li Feng’s reputation as a failure was imposed by others, not self-proclaimed. His claim of Li Feng deceiving the world didn’t hold up.

“There’s a saying: ‘Don’t believe what you hear, trust what you see.’ You’re NSB and don’t get that? How’d you even get in?” Li Feng gave him a meaningful look, lowering his voice. “Don’t tell me you got in through connections?”

“Uh…” Fo Zhu nearly jumped in frustration. No one had ever accused him of entering the NSB through backdoors, but Li Feng’s words left him speechless. His earlier statement did violate the principle of trusting only what’s seen, a mistake an NSB agent shouldn’t make.

The youth behind Fo Zhu nearly burst out laughing, seeing Fo Zhu so thoroughly outmaneuvered for the first time.

After a moment, Fo Zhu calmed his anger, glaring at Li Feng. “I finally get it. Young Master Li’s not just skilled in combat but sharp-tongued too.”

Li Feng feigned fear. “I’m just stating facts. You’re glaring at me like that—planning to silence me?”

“You…” Fo Zhu fumed, never expecting to be so outdone by a peer, yet powerless to retaliate.

Li Feng sneered inwardly. Fo Zhu had come in with a mocking tone, clearly probing him. Did he think Li Feng would just play along?

“Boss,” the youth behind Fo Zhu whispered something in his ear, unable to watch any longer.

Instantly, Fo Zhu’s anger dissipated. He grinned at Li Feng. “You’re good, Li Feng, nearly got me. Alright, no more games. I’m here to ask about the attack.”

“When did the NSB become the police? Isn’t investigating cases their job?” Li Feng asked.

“This incident has a huge impact. The NSB is assisting the police,” Fo Zhu said.

“Assisting? Then why send the police away?” Li Feng sneered. Did Fo Zhu think he was an idiot? Assistance meant working under the police’s lead, yet Fo Zhu had dismissed Shu Wei the moment he arrived. Assistance? Who’d believe that?

“It’s… I just wanted to ask a few questions privately,” Fo Zhu said, hesitating.

“Is that so?” Li Feng gave him a half-smile.

“Whether it is or not, just answer my questions,” Fo Zhu said impatiently. He hadn’t expected Li Feng to be so difficult. Had he known, he wouldn’t have come to the hospital so rashly.

“Fine, ask away,” Li Feng said.

“Who do you think the attackers were?” Fo Zhu asked.

“How would I know? I was ambushed out of nowhere. If I knew who they were, you think I’d be lying here joking around? I’d have already taken people to get revenge,” Li Feng replied.

“How did you survive so many attackers? From what I know, there were over a dozen guns, including a sniper rifle. How did you dodge all that firepower?” Fo Zhu pressed.

“What kind of nonsense question is that? How’d I survive? Luck, obviously. The King of Hell didn’t want me yet. Even so, I still got shot,” Li Feng said, glancing at Fo Zhu. “What’s with the question? You think I staged the attack with them?”

Fo Zhu nodded solemnly. “It’s the only explanation.”
