“Damn it…”
Being interrupted at such a critical moment would upset anyone, let alone Zheng Haoyuan. But his angry expression quickly turned to excitement.
“Hahaha, it must be Hu Yuanyuan arriving.”
Zheng Haoyuan laughed loudly, turning to Xu Qing. “I was going to have some fun with you first, but since Hu Yuanyuan’s here so soon, great. You two can entertain me together.”
Xu Qing opened her eyes, glaring at Zheng Haoyuan with hatred. She felt both relief and worry—relief that she had temporarily escaped his clutches, but worry that if Hu Yuanyuan had indeed arrived, she might face the same fate.
Zheng Haoyuan pinched Xu Qing’s cheek, grinning. “Beauty, I won’t make you wait long.”
Though he desperately wanted to take Xu Qing right then and there, he knew his priorities. Hu Yuanyuan was the main target; Xu Qing was just a bonus. Hu Yuanyuan wasn’t only a beauty he coveted but also tied to the machine Young Master Fu wanted.
Playing with women was important, but completing Young Master Fu’s task was paramount. Once that was done, he could toy with both Hu Yuanyuan and Xu Qing however he pleased.
Under Xu Qing’s hateful glare, Zheng Haoyuan took a few steps and opened the door, ready to greet Hu Yuanyuan.
The moment the door opened, before he could speak, a gust of force hit him. Caught off guard, Zheng Haoyuan was struck in the chest by a fist, sent flying backward.
Bang!
He crashed to the ground with a loud thud.
“What…”
Zheng Haoyuan’s two lackeys and Xu Qing were stunned, unsure of what had just happened.
“Who are you?” Zheng Haoyuan, a cultivator, sprang to his feet, glaring coldly at the figure in the doorway.
“President Li…” Xu Qing finally reacted, seeing Li Feng standing there. A surge of joy rose in her heart.
The newcomer was none other than Li Feng, who had rushed to Fengyuan Hotel. The hotel was some distance from Fengyuan Group, and despite hurrying, it had taken him time to arrive. Fortunately, Xu Qing was still unharmed.
Li Feng stepped to Xu Qing’s side, asking with concern, “Xu Qing, are you okay?”
Xu Qing shook her head, tears streaming down. She had been in despair, believing escape was impossible, but Li Feng’s arrival, like a white knight from the heavens, turned her despair into hope.
“Good to know you’re okay.” Li Feng turned to Zheng Haoyuan, his gaze icy.
Zhong Shuhui had described Zheng Haoyuan as a venomous snake—cunning, vengeful, and ruthless—but Li Feng hadn’t imagined he’d be this despicable, resorting to kidnapping Xu Qing’s father to target both her and Hu Yuanyuan.
If Li Feng hadn’t been at the company today, Xu Qing, and even Hu Yuanyuan, might have fallen into Zheng Haoyuan’s hands, with unimaginable consequences.
“Who are you?” Zheng Haoyuan asked again coldly, his eyes flashing with murderous intent. Having his plans disrupted and being struck unexpectedly would anger even the calmest person, let alone someone like him.
“I’m Li Feng.” It was Li Feng’s first time seeing Zheng Haoyuan. If the evidence weren’t before him, he wouldn’t have believed such a refined-looking young man could be so vile and shameless.
“Li Feng?” Zheng Haoyuan paused, unfamiliar with the name. Seeing Xu Qing’s joyful expression, he sneered. “You must be Xu Qing’s lover. Didn’t expect you to find this place so quickly. Not bad. But I’m telling you now, Xu Qing is mine from today onward. If you’re smart, kneel and beg for forgiveness, then cripple your arms. Maybe I’ll be merciful and spare your life.”
“Idiot.” Li Feng spat out two words coldly.
“Damn you, you dare insult me?” Zheng Haoyuan’s rage flared, his eyes glinting with chilling intent. “If that’s how it is, you’ll leave your life here today.”
“With you?” Li Feng sneered. He might have been wary of Zheng Haoyuan’s schemes, but when it came to a fight, Li Feng was confident. Even if Zheng Haoyuan practiced dark arts, he wasn’t afraid.
“Damn you, you’re dead. I’ll make you die!” Zheng Haoyuan was thoroughly enraged. He couldn’t recall the last time someone had spoken to him like this. At that moment, he resolved to kill Li Feng—no, killing him would be too easy. It wouldn’t quell his anger.
His gaze fell on Xu Qing beside Li Feng, and a wicked idea formed in his mind.
“You two, grab him,” Zheng Haoyuan ordered his lackeys.
Flathead and Glasses exchanged a glance, uncertain. Zheng Haoyuan had just been sent flying by Li Feng’s punch—were they his match?
But they couldn’t defy Zheng Haoyuan’s orders. Reluctantly, they approached Li Feng from either side.
“President Li…” Xu Qing looked at Li Feng nervously. She didn’t know how skilled he was, but she knew he’d been injured and hospitalized days ago. Could he handle these two lackeys?
“Don’t worry.” Li Feng patted her hand, his gaze settling on Zheng Haoyuan’s lackeys with a cold smirk.
Flathead and Glasses stopped three steps from Li Feng, roared, and lunged at him.
Seeing them charge, Xu Qing closed her eyes in fear.
Li Feng pulled her behind him, facing the two sneering lackeys with a dismissive smile. He casually struck out with a palm.
Bang… Bang…
Before they could react, both lackeys were sent flying, crashing heavily to the ground.
“Zheng Haoyuan, you think these two losers can take me?” Li Feng sneered at him.
“Didn’t expect you to have such skill.” Zheng Haoyuan’s pupils constricted, his expression shifting. He had thought being knocked back at the door was due to Li Feng’s surprise attack, but seeing him dispatch his lackeys, he knew he was facing a fellow ancient martial artist.
“No wonder you’re so arrogant. You’re an ancient martial artist too.” Zheng Haoyuan’s face grew serious. Since returning from Tianmu Mountain, he’d rarely encountered other ancient martial artists, and those he did were formidable. Even if Li Feng wasn’t as strong as the elder by Fu Yanxiong’s side, he couldn’t afford to underestimate him.
His arrogance and disregard for others stemmed from his own strength. If someone was stronger, he knew what that meant. He couldn’t allow himself to be defeated.
A chilling murderous intent flashed in his eyes as he looked at Li Feng. He couldn’t let someone like him live—not just because of Xu Qing, but because Li Feng, as an ancient martial artist, was a potential threat.
“No matter how arrogant I am, I can’t compare to you,” Li Feng sneered. “You’ve got some nerve, Zheng Haoyuan, stooping to such vile tactics. I haven’t even settled the score with you, and you dare target Xu Qing and Hu Yuanyuan. No one can save you today.”
“Who the hell are you?” Zheng Haoyuan’s expression shifted. From Li Feng’s words, he sensed he wasn’t just here for Xu Qing.
“Hahaha, didn’t you say you’d make my company cease to exist? And you don’t even know who I am?” Li Feng laughed, his tone icy.
Zheng Haoyuan’s eyes narrowed, trying to guess Li Feng’s identity.
“Young Master Zheng, he’s Li Feng, the vice president of Fengyuan Group,” Flathead, struggling to his feet, suddenly recalled and hurriedly told Zheng Haoyuan. “He’s the mysterious vice president of Fengyuan Group. It’s said he orchestrated the takeover of the Sun Group.”
“I see.”
Zheng Haoyuan’s eyes lit up with realisation, looking at Li Feng. “So you’re the vice president of Fengyuan Group. No wonder you talk big. But I, Zheng Haoyuan, keep my word. I said I’d bring irreparable disaster to Fengyuan Group, and I will. Even if you’re Li Feng, you can’t stop me.”
“Is that so? I’d like to see if you have the strength.” Li Feng gave a cold smile.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
Before his words fell, Zheng Haoyuan shot toward Li Feng. A gleaming sword appeared in his hand, its chilling light aimed straight at Li Feng.
With one sword strike, the heavens trembled.
