Li Feng walked unhurriedly along the road. In another hour, night would fall, so he was in no rush to enter the mountains. He decided to take a look at Kunyang Town first.
In Li Feng’s mind, he was rather curious about Kunyang Town. Those legends struck him as an attempt to cover something up, to conceal some secret.
At that moment, suddenly, Li Feng’s expression shifted. Next, he saw more than a dozen people running towards him from a side path.
“Quick, kill him.” These ruffians were none other than the men Wild Fox had brought. Each one held a weapon, firing as they charged at Li Feng.

Li Feng’s face changed slightly. He had not expected to encounter such a thing so soon upon nearing Kunyang Town. No wonder those people from Yongzhou dared not come to Kunyang Town. With these ruffians about, who would dare visit?
Li Feng sprang to one side, ducking behind a large tree. He watched the dozen or so approaching ruffians coldly, a flash of icy killing intent in his eyes.

Ever since Old Master Du had ordered the town sealed off, Wild Fox had slain dozens of outsiders. Coupled with the rumours he spread abroad, Kunyang Town had seen no visitors from outside for quite some time.
Wild Fox had simply not anticipated that an outsider would appear in Kunyang Town at this juncture. At Wild Wolf’s command, Wild Fox had unhesitatingly brought his men to kill.
In Wild Fox’s view, the one who had come this time was merely a young whippersnapper. Dealing with him would be a simple matter. Though he had brought more than a dozen fully armed men, he believed one of them alone would suffice.
But contrary to expectations, this young fellow’s skills were not bad. He had actually dodged the bullets they fired.
“Do you think you can escape?” Seeing Li Feng duck behind the tree, a trace of cold killing intent flashed in Wild Fox’s eyes. Without hesitation, he waved his hand, sending all his underlings to surround him.
“Empty your magazines, then move in.”
Wild Fox ordered. They lacked for everything except bullets. After firing one magazine, they loaded a fresh one. Then they advanced from all sides, closing in on the spot where Li Feng had taken cover ahead.
Li Feng kept a close watch on the situation before him. The attackers’ firepower was fierce, giving him a sense of being pinned down. If he were an ordinary man, he would have died in that first volley.
Were these ruffians connected to those legends of Kunyang Town? Was it they who did not want outsiders entering Kunyang Town? What was their purpose?
Li Feng’s face darkened. He felt this was the only explanation. Otherwise, why would he come under attack the moment he neared Kunyang Town?

Two ruffians grunted dully as the knives buried themselves in their throats, killing them on the spot.
Wild Fox flew into a rage. He had never imagined the day would come when his underlings would be slain. All this time, apart from venturing into the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, they had never paid such a heavy price in firefights with others.
At this moment, Wild Fox’s hatred for Li Feng surged to the heavens. These underlings were ones he had trained personally. Though not blood brothers, they were closer than such.
At this moment, Wild Fox’s killing intent towards Li Feng reached an unprecedented peak. At this moment, he wished to kill Li Feng, not merely for the mission, but out of the hatred in his heart.

“Boss, I’ll take some men around and kill him.” A bald-headed giant of a man came to Wild Fox’s side and said, “This fellow is strong. We cannot drag this out here. We must finish him quickly.”
Wild Fox nodded. “Take a few men around. Be careful. We end him swiftly. Do not give him a chance to flee.”
Wild Fox was somewhat worried. This was, after all, outside Kunyang Town. If they could not kill Li Feng and he escaped into the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, it would be a major headache for Old Master Du. He too would have to face Old Master Du’s wrath.
Having followed Old Master Du for so long, he naturally knew what that wrath entailed. Even now, facing it, he would tremble in fear.
Li Feng naturally had no idea what Wild Fox and his men were thinking. For Li Feng, escape had never crossed his mind. The sole thought in his head now was to kill these ruffians. Yet with their hot weapons, he could not take them down for the moment.
“Tat-tat-tat…” Bullets flew towards him, but Li Feng moved with ease and agility, weaving through the woods. Flying knives shot from his hand from time to time. Each time one flew, it claimed a ruffian’s life.
Li Feng’s sole concern now was whether the enemy had reinforcements. Dealing with these dozen or so was merely a matter of time for him, but if reinforcements arrived, that would be another story.
Soon, the bald-headed giant led a few men in a flanking manoeuvre around Li Feng. But after Li Feng dealt with two of them, the bald-headed giant and his men dared not press forward.
Seeing this, Wild Fox said excitedly, “Brothers, charge! With Baldy and his lot cooperating from that side, as long as we rush together and surround him, we can surely kill him.” With that, Wild Fox produced a grenade and hurled it viciously at Li Feng.
Boom!
A massive explosion rang out, sending earth and stones flying.
“Damn it, they even have grenades.” Li Feng’s face turned ashen. A grenade was no pistol; its power far exceeded that of a handgun. To be caught in the blast would mean death or maiming at best.
Amid the shock, a cold killing intent gleamed in Li Feng’s eyes.
Even as Wild Fox and his men launched their attack, the bald-headed giant and his group immediately raised their heads and fired at Li Feng, intent on killing him in the shortest time possible.
“Since you seek death, I shall oblige you.” Li Feng’s gaze flashed, and he unleashed Phantom Ninefold in an instant. His entire form split into two phantoms, lunging towards the bald-headed giant’s side.
“How is this possible?” The bald-headed giant stared at Li Feng in disbelief. How could one man become two?
Yet this bald-headed giant was well-trained after all, his reactions swift. He shouted at once, “Quick, open fire, kill him.”
No sooner said than done: just as the bald-headed giant reacted, Li Feng was already before him.
“Die!” Icy killing intent shone in Li Feng’s eyes as he shot a flying knife straight at the bald-headed giant.
“Oh, no…” The bald-headed giant clutched his throat, collapsing unwillingly to the ground. His eyes bulged wide, staring in death, unable to comprehend how Li Feng had suddenly appeared before him.
Li Feng paid no heed to the thoughts in the bald-headed giant’s mind. In the instant he struck at the giant, he simultaneously targeted the other ruffians. Sharp flying knives sliced through the void, embedding instantly in their throats.
Thud, thud…
Several thumps sounded as bodies hit the ground. These ruffians died with faces full of terror and fear.
“Brothers, charge and kill him.” Wild Fox had no idea what had happened. Seeing Li Feng lunge towards the bald-headed giant, he sensed trouble, but at this point, he had no intention of giving up. He rallied his underlings to rush at Li Feng.
“Tat-tat-tat…”
A hail of bullets came flying. Li Feng sneered coldly, rolling on the spot and scooping up two pistols from the ground. He raised them and fired two shots.
“Bang, bang…”
Two ruffians grunted dully and toppled to the ground.
Wild Fox’s expression changed involuntarily. The enemy now had guns, which meant Baldy and his men were likely done for. This was hard for him to accept. The bald-headed giant had been one of his valiant generals. Could he truly be dead just like that?
But now was no time for Wild Fox to dwell, for Li Feng was already charging at them. Though alone, Li Feng’s marksmanship was deadly accurate. Those tricky bullets had them pinned down, barely able to lift their heads.
“Withdraw.” Wild Fox issued the retreat order without hesitation. He did not want all his underlings left here.
“Want to leave now? A bit late for that, is it not?”
Li Feng sneered coldly. His marksmanship was hardly inferior. As a soldier king, his skill with a gun surpassed even a divine marksman.
This time, Li Feng had no intention of letting Wild Fox and his men escape. Out here in this desolate wilderness, he could unleash his killing spree without restraint.
“You three, hold him off. I shall look after your families.” Wild Fox summoned three underlings and said gravely. He knew that to withdraw, someone had to cover their retreat. Otherwise, they might all perish here.
“Boss, rest assured. Trouble you to care for our families.” The three suicide soldiers wore faces of tragic resolve. They knew staying meant certain death, but they had no choice but to obey Wild Fox’s order. For they knew that if they refused, even if Wild Fox did not kill them now, their families back in Kunyang Town would come to no good end.
“Fear not. I shall care well for your families.” Wild Fox dared say no more, for he felt that if he did not run now, escape would truly be impossible.
“Bang-bang-bang.” The three suicide soldiers held out against Li Feng for but a short while before he dispatched them. Gazing at the direction in which Wild Fox and the others fled, Li Feng gave no thought and pursued without pause.
