“I want to know about the Zheng family,” Li Feng said.
Hearing this, Wild Fox let out a sigh of relief. He had feared Li Feng would ask something he couldn’t answer, but the Zheng family? He had no reason to hold back.
“After you arrived in Kunyang Town, several groups came, including the Zheng family. They sent eight people, led by Zheng Xiaoyang, known as Third Master Zheng, said to be the younger brother of their clan leader. These Zheng folks are highly skilled. When they first arrived, many of our Du Sect members died at their hands,” Wild Fox said quickly.
“You attacked them first, didn’t you?” Li Feng sneered, recalling how Wild Fox had ambushed him when he arrived in Kunyang Town. Back then, he didn’t understand the unprovoked attack, but now it was clear—Du Sect’s Old Master Du had set up the Blood Refining Grand Formation and didn’t want outsiders interfering.
Wild Fox said awkwardly, “Yes, I led the attack, but they were too strong. Even I couldn’t last three moves against Third Master Zheng. We had no choice but to let them enter Kunyang Town.”
He paused, then continued, “Luckily, their target is you, not Du Sect. We had to let them stay. Your name—we learned it from them.”
The Zheng family? Hmph!
Li Feng sneered and asked, “I cut off one of Wild Leopard’s arms. I heard you sought the Zheng family’s help to find me?”
“Li Feng, that was my brother’s idea. I was just following orders. Besides, those Zheng folks are so arrogant. If it were up to me, I’d never ask for their help,” Wild Fox said hastily, afraid Li Feng would blame him.
“I didn’t say it was your idea. Why so nervous?” Li Feng sneered. “Feeling guilty?”
“No, no, it’s not that. I swear, this has nothing to do with me. I don’t like any of those Zheng people, especially that Zheng Kai, glaring at me like he’s somebody. I’d love to kill him,” Wild Fox said urgently.
Li Feng paused, then understood. The Zheng family from Zhongyuan Province was a first-rate clan in China. While not all their members were spoiled, they carried the pride of a major family. To them, Du Sect was a minor faction, and Wild Fox, one of their Four Great Vajras, was just a country bumpkin.
“Li Feng, I’m telling the truth. I swear,” Wild Fox said, thinking Li Feng didn’t believe him.
“You mentioned others came to Kunyang Town recently. Besides the Zheng family, who else?” Li Feng asked.
“People from the National Security Bureau,” Wild Fox replied.
“The National Security Bureau?” Li Feng’s expression shifted. Why would they be in Kunyang Town? The Zheng family was here to kill him, but the Bureau? Were they here to stop the Blood Refining Grand Formation?
Li Feng shook his head, dismissing the idea. If the Bureau was here for that, Kunyang Town wouldn’t be so calm. When he overheard Wild Leopard’s conversation, there was no mention of the Bureau. To stop the formation, they’d need someone capable of facing Du Wu. Did the Bureau’s people here have that strength?
“Yes, from the Yongzhou branch,” Wild Fox said.
This confirmed Li Feng’s doubts. The Bureau wasn’t here for the formation. So why? The Shiwan Mountains? The Zheng family? Or him?
Li Feng didn’t dwell on it. It didn’t matter why they were here. His priority was destroying the Blood Refining Grand Formation’s core and killing Du Wu.
“Where are the Zheng family members?” Li Feng asked.
“At the hotel ahead,” Wild Fox replied quickly.
After a moment’s thought, Li Feng said, “Dump their bodies in the sewer. Hurry, or else…” A bullet fired into the ground, leaving a deep hole.
Wild Fox’s legs buckled. Ignoring his pain, he stood and dragged his men’s bodies into the sewer.
“Take me to the Zheng family,” Li Feng said once Wild Fox covered the sewer.
Wild Fox dropped to his knees, pleading, “Li Feng, I’ve told you everything. Your feud with them has nothing to do with me. Please let me go.”
“Hmph, you don’t have a choice. Take me now, or I’ll shoot you,” Li Feng said coldly.
With no choice, Wild Fox stood and led Li Feng to the hotel.
Kunyang Town was small, with only one hotel nearby. In less than ten minutes, they arrived.
For Wild Fox, those ten minutes felt like a century, but he calmed himself, knowing he had to follow Li Feng’s orders.
The hotel was modest, four stories tall. The first floor was a restaurant, the second and third had standard rooms, and the fourth held high-end suites costing thousands per night. The Zheng family stayed on the fourth floor.
Entering the hotel, Wild Fox led Li Feng to the stairs. Despite being the town’s only hotel with luxury rooms, it lacked an elevator.
Soon, they reached the fourth floor, which had only two suites, styled like presidential suites in grand hotels.
“The Zheng family is here,” Wild Fox said to Li Feng.
“Which room is Third Master Zheng in?” Li Feng asked.
“The right one,” Wild Fox replied.
“And this one?” Li Feng pointed to the left room.
“His men,” Wild Fox answered.
“Knock,” Li Feng ordered coldly.
Wild Fox’s face paled, pleading with his eyes, but Li Feng’s expression was icy. Reluctantly, he knocked.
The doorbell rang…
After a while, a voice came from inside, “Who is it? It’s so late. If it’s not important, I’ll make you regret it.”
“It’s me, Wild Fox,” he said, forced to give his name.
“Another Du Sect loser? If you don’t have a good reason, I’ll kill you,” a cold voice replied. Wild Fox’s face darkened with anger.
The door opened, and a young man appeared. Seeing Wild Fox, he said, “You again, trash? What do you want?”
“I’m the one looking for you,” Li Feng said suddenly.
“You, you’re…” The young man froze, but before he could say more, Li Feng shoved the submachine gun’s barrel into his mouth and pulled the trigger. The bullet pierced his head, splattering brain matter as he collapsed.
Wild Fox paled in terror.
Li Feng stormed the room, killing on sight. His gun fired relentlessly, bullets spraying like they were free.
The suite housed four Zheng family members. Despite its luxury, it had only one bedroom. Besides the young man at the door, two were sleeping in the living room. Caught off guard, they died before they could react.
After killing them, Li Feng rushed to the bedroom at the other end of the suite. He moved swiftly, reaching it in moments.
Bang!
He kicked open the bedroom door and charged in, only to find it empty.
“Who dares kill my Zheng family?” a furious shout came from the other room. The gunfire had alerted the rest.
Li Feng’s eyes flashed with killing intent as he glanced back at the living room.
Suddenly, a sense of danger gripped him. Instinctively, he activated his Ninefold Phantom Steps, vanishing from his spot.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out, a bullet striking where Li Feng had stood.
Turning, Li Feng saw a young man emerge from a wardrobe, holding an AK.
Had Li Feng not reacted in time, he’d be dead.
The young man’s eyes glinted with killing intent. Without hesitation, he fired three more shots.
Rat-a-tat…
Prepared, Li Feng rolled, dodging to the bedroom’s exterior. Then, he shouted, “Oh no, Wild Fox sir, Zheng Kai was ready. Run!”
Wild Fox, about to retreat to the stairs, paled. Before he could react, a hand grabbed his head.
Crack!
His skull shattered, and his body collapsed.
A middle-aged man stepped out from behind Wild Fox, ignoring his corpse, and entered the room amid the gunfire.
Li Feng glanced back, locking onto his target. This was Zheng Xiaoyang, Third Master Zheng. One look told Li Feng he was a formidable opponent. If not handled carefully, Li Feng could be at a disadvantage, and his carefully laid plan might fail.
Without hesitation, Li Feng dashed to the window, smashed it open with a palm strike, and leapt out.
“Trying to escape? Not so easy,” the young man from the bedroom appeared at the window, firing at Li Feng.
Bang…
In midair, Li Feng twisted, the bullet grazing his arm, sending a chill through him. He hadn’t expected the Zheng family to have such a sharpshooter; his instinctive dodge had barely saved him.
“Not bad,” the young man said coldly, firing two more shots.
But Li Feng had landed, rolling to avoid the bullets. With a push off the ground, he leapt up and sprinted away.
“Hmph, kill my Zheng family and think you can leave?” Zheng Xiaoyang snorted, leaping from the window to pursue Li Feng.
