The difference between Yuanyuan Group and Fengyuan Group may be just one character, but the meaning is vastly different.
Fu Yanxiong’s suggestion to change Fengyuan Group to Yuanyuan Group was an attempt to erase Li Feng’s influence in the company.
He believed Hu Yuanyuan built Fengyuan Group with her own abilities, supported by the Li family behind the scenes, which is why it was named Fengyuan Group.
But he thought Hu Yuanyuan accepted the name reluctantly, out of necessity. By suggesting the change, he was testing her. If she agreed that Yuanyuan Group sounded better, it would signal her dissatisfaction with Li Feng and the Li family, giving him an opportunity.
After speaking, Fu Yanxiong waited for her reaction when he heard the door being pushed open, followed by footsteps. Startled, he turned to see Li Feng walk in and snorted, “Who are you? Can’t you see I’m talking to President Hu?”
Fu Yanxiong didn’t recognize Li Feng. Though he’d seen old photos of him, Li Feng had changed significantly, so he didn’t realize this was Li Feng. He was furious at the interruption, believing Hu Yuanyuan was about to fall into his hands. Li Feng’s appearance disrupted his plan.
“I need to report work to President Hu,” Li Feng said, momentarily stunned but quickly realizing Fu Yanxiong didn’t know him. He decided to play along.
“Report work? Hmph, can’t you see we’re discussing something? Don’t you have any manners, barging in without knocking?” Fu Yanxiong said coldly, glaring at Li Feng.
“May I ask who you are? What’s it to you if I knock or not?” Li Feng replied, glancing at him dismissively.
“How dare you speak like that? You think you’re in the right?” Fu Yanxiong’s face darkened as he said coldly, “People like you don’t belong at Fengyuan Group.”
“Heh, sir, why don’t I belong at Fengyuan Group? Are you an employee here?” Li Feng smirked, a cold glint in his eyes.
“Of course I’m not an employee of Fengyuan Group,” Fu Yanxiong replied.
“Are you a manager at Fengyuan Group?” Li Feng pressed.
“If I were, I’d fire you right now,” Fu Yanxiong snorted. “But I’ll suggest to your President Hu to get rid of you. People like you don’t deserve to stay here.”
“Don’t deserve it?” Li Feng chuckled, winking at Hu Yuanyuan to keep his identity hidden for now. He sat next to Fu Yanxiong, looked at his angry face, and smiled. “Sir, you’re not part of Fengyuan Group. Aren’t you overstepping? President Hu hasn’t said anything, yet you’re jumping in. People might think you’re the boss here.”
“Hmph,” Fu Yanxiong snorted, turning to Hu Yuanyuan. “Hu Yuanyuan, fire this rude employee now. His presence is a disaster for Fengyuan Group. He’ll cause trouble and disrupt normal operations.”
Hu Yuanyuan hadn’t expected Li Feng to return so soon; she thought he’d be back tomorrow at the earliest. Seeing him, she felt a wave of relief. The business networking event was tomorrow, and without Li Feng, she’d feel uneasy attending alone.
In the days he was gone, she missed him terribly. With him by her side, she felt secure, as he always resolved her problems at critical moments.
Fu Yanxiong’s earlier words had left her at a loss, but Li Feng’s arrival eased her mind.
Seeing his sly smile, she knew something entertaining was coming. From her understanding of Li Feng, he wouldn’t let Fu Yanxiong off easily, especially after the Tianguan and Zheng Haoyuan incidents, where Li Feng held a grudge. Now that Fu Yanxiong had come to them, Li Feng wouldn’t let him off.
Sure enough, Li Feng spoke to Fu Yanxiong without revealing his identity, confirming her suspicions.
Hearing Fu Yanxiong demand Li Feng’s dismissal, she nearly laughed. Fire Li Feng? Impossible. He was the company’s boss and largest shareholder. How could she fire him? Losing anyone else was fine, but not Li Feng.
Still, she suppressed her laughter, unsure of Li Feng’s plan but ready to play along.
“Hahaha, that’s hilarious. Since when did I have such influence to disrupt the company’s operations?” Li Feng said before Hu Yuanyuan could respond. “Sir, don’t forget, this is Fengyuan Group. Watch your words. On what grounds do you demand President Hu fire me?”
Li Feng was slightly angry. Fu Yanxiong was too arrogant, acting like he owned the company.
“Because President Hu and I are good friends,” Fu Yanxiong said gravely.
“Good friends? How good?” Li Feng sneered, glancing at Hu Yuanyuan. He hadn’t forgotten that Fu Yanxiong was a potential rival. Was he here to rekindle old feelings with her?
Li Feng scoffed inwardly, unconcerned about Hu Yuanyuan but wary of Fu Yanxiong.
“Hmph, that’s none of your business. I’m discussing matters with your President Hu. Leave now,” Fu Yanxiong said coldly.
“Leave?” Li Feng leaned back in his chair. “I’m not going anywhere. As an employee, I have a right to care about the company’s development. Staying here, I might offer President Hu some advice to keep her from being fooled by certain people.”
Fu Yanxiong’s face darkened. “What do you mean?”
“What do I mean? Exactly what I said. Don’t you understand?” Li Feng said with a cold laugh.
“You…”
“You what? Am I wrong?” Li Feng cut in. “By the way, we’ve talked this long, and I still don’t know your name.” He turned to Hu Yuanyuan. “President Hu, who is this gentleman?”
“His name is Fu Yanxiong,” Hu Yuanyuan said, cooperating fully.
“Fu Yanxiong?” Li Feng shook his head, feigning regret. “What a pity.”
“What’s a pity?” Fu Yanxiong’s eyes flashed with a cold glint. If not for maintaining a gentlemanly image in front of Hu Yuanyuan, he’d have slapped Li Feng out of the office.
“What a pity. Yanxiong, Yanxiong—I thought you were a hero. But it seems you lack basic comprehension. How can you be a hero?” Li Feng shook his head regretfully.
“What did you say?” Fu Yanxiong glared at him coldly.
“Isn’t it clear? Fu Yanxiong, Mr. Fu, I said your comprehension is lacking,” Li Feng said calmly.
“You…” Fu Yanxiong’s anger flared. A young elite like him, being told he lacked comprehension?
“By the way, Mr. Fu, what were you and President Hu discussing?” Li Feng asked.
“That’s none of your business,” Fu Yanxiong said coldly.
“I overheard you wanted to help rename our company. Is that true?” Li Feng glanced at him. “I didn’t expect Mr. Fu to care so much about Fengyuan Group, even noticing our name isn’t good. But do you know the meaning behind Fengyuan Group’s name?”
“Meaning? What meaning could it have?” Fu Yanxiong snorted.
“Fengyuan Group comes from the names of our President Hu Yuanyuan and Vice President Li Feng, taking one character each. It signifies that the company belongs to both of them,” Li Feng said, pausing to glance at Fu Yanxiong. “Actually, not just you, I also think the name isn’t great. Why call it Fengyuan Group? President Hu built this company single-handedly. What does it have to do with Li Feng? He’s just a name on the roster. You’re not the only one dissatisfied, Mr. Fu. I’m dissatisfied too, as are all our employees. Even President Hu isn’t satisfied.”
“Really?” Fu Yanxiong was stunned. He’d expected Li Feng to say something righteous, not express dissatisfaction with the name and claim the employees and Hu Yuanyuan felt the same.
“Of course it’s true. Ask President Hu if you don’t believe me,” Li Feng said, turning to Hu Yuanyuan and winking.
“Hu Yuanyuan, is he telling the truth?” Fu Yanxiong asked, his eyes full of anticipation, both nervous and excited.
“It’s true,” Hu Yuanyuan nodded slowly. She didn’t know Li Feng’s plan, but since he asked her to cooperate, she had no reason to refuse. She was curious to see what he was up to.
“Fantastic!” Fu Yanxiong said excitedly.
“Fantastic?” Li Feng turned to him. “What’s fantastic?”
“Oh, I mean it’s great we’re on the same page,” Fu Yanxiong said quickly, his heart racing with excitement. Hu Yuanyuan’s dissatisfaction with the name meant dissatisfaction with Li Feng—an opportunity he couldn’t miss.
“Indeed, what a pity. I once suggested President Hu change the name, but renaming is so difficult,” Li Feng sighed, then added with a hint of resentment, “At our company, not everything is up to President Hu. Changing the name? Without Li Feng’s approval, it’s impossible. I wonder if you, Mr. Fu, have any way to help President Hu?”
