Fu Yanxiong hadn’t forgotten his goal of seducing Hu Yuanyuan. He’d thought she was a proud woman whose pride and dignity needed to be shattered to win her over.
But he never imagined she’d already hooked up with a subordinate.
He briefly suspected the man before him might be Li Feng, but this person’s anger when mentioning Li Feng and his intimate behavior with Hu Yuanyuan ruled that out.
To Fu Yanxiong, Hu Yuanyuan and Li Feng were at odds, incapable of such closeness. He was certain this man was her lover.
Though furious, he found it reasonable. Married to Li Feng, Hu Yuanyuan must have felt despair, and this man had taken advantage of her vulnerability.
Regret crept in. If he’d known she had a lover, he’d have been more direct. He believed if she had to choose between him and this man, she’d pick him.
At the same time, his resolve to eliminate this man hardened. Hu Yuanyuan was his, and he wouldn’t allow anyone else to touch her.
“Whether I’m worthy or not isn’t your concern, Mr. Fu. Even a toad can dream of a swan—can you control that?” Li Feng sneered, aiming to provoke Fu Yanxiong’s anger and make him lose his composure.
“Don’t tell me you have designs on my dear President Hu?” Li Feng asked coldly.
“You…” Fu Yanxiong glared at him. “Hu Yuanyuan is the young mistress of the Li family. Thinking you can be with her? You’re courting death. I’m saying this for your own good.”
“So I should thank you, Mr. Fu?” Li Feng smiled, leaning toward Hu Yuanyuan. “President Hu, you’ll protect me, right? With you here, the Li family won’t touch me, will they?”
“Yes, the Li family won’t touch you,” Hu Yuanyuan said, though she pinched Li Feng’s leg hard under the table. He was getting carried away, making it sound like she was cheating.
Fu Yanxiong’s face turned ashen with rage. He was furious at Li Feng’s arrogance and Hu Yuanyuan’s shamelessness. Unbeknownst to him, the man was Li Feng, and they were merely showing affection.
“Enough of this. Mr. Fu, now that you know my relationship with President Hu, can you tell us why you’re here today?” Li Feng said.
“I…” Fu Yanxiong nearly cursed Li Feng but remembered his true purpose.
He wanted the batch of chemical equipment from Hu Yuanyuan. Seeing her beauty, he’d planned to seduce her first, then secure the equipment.
But with her apparent lover here, seducing her quickly was impossible. Now, he focused on getting the equipment, which was too important to delay.
Originally, obtaining it would’ve been tricky, but now…
Fu Yanxiong looked at Li Feng and Hu Yuanyuan, a glint in his eyes.
“Mr. Fu, you didn’t come here just because you had nothing better to do, did you?” Li Feng said, a cold smile in his eyes.
“Of course not,” Fu Yanxiong said, turning to Hu Yuanyuan. “Hu Yuanyuan, I heard your company has a batch of chemical equipment. I’m here for that.”
As expected!
Li Feng and Hu Yuanyuan exchanged a glance. They hadn’t anticipated Fu Yanxiong would personally come for the equipment.
After the Tianguan and Zheng Haoyuan incidents, they knew the equipment was important to him, but for him to show up himself?
Hu Yuanyuan realized his earlier flattery was all to get the equipment. Her heart grew colder, seeing his unscrupulous nature more clearly.
Li Feng, meanwhile, wondered why Fu Yanxiong was so desperate for it. He doubted it was just for a lab. If that were the case, would Fu Yanxiong have been so secretive before?
Li Feng squeezed Hu Yuanyuan’s shoulder, signaling her. She said, “Our company did have that equipment, but it’s gone now.”
“Haha, Hu Yuanyuan, still trying to fool me? I’ve checked. That equipment is still in your warehouse,” Fu Yanxiong said with a smile, looking at her. “Don’t worry, give me the equipment, and I won’t short you a single cent.”
“You came prepared,” Hu Yuanyuan said, giving him a deep look. “But that equipment is for our company’s use. We can’t sell it to you.”
“Hu Yuanyuan, who’d believe that? Fengyuan Group focuses on financial investments, foreign trade, and smart system development. That equipment has nothing to do with your business,” Fu Yanxiong said, scoffing at her excuse.
“I believe it,” Li Feng said.
“Shut up. This isn’t a place for a pretty boy like you to speak,” Fu Yanxiong snapped.
A kept man who didn’t know his place deserved to die.
“That equipment already has a buyer,” Hu Yuanyuan said.
“Buyer? I’m the buyer,” Fu Yanxiong replied.
“No, the buyer is Zheng Haoyuan from the Zheng family of Zhongyuan Province,” Hu Yuanyuan said, shaking her head.
“Hu Yuanyuan, let’s not play dumb,” Fu Yanxiong said gravely. “Zheng Haoyuan was my man. He came for the equipment on my orders. I underestimated you, though. I didn’t expect you to be so capable. Zheng Haoyuan’s death probably has something to do with you, doesn’t it?”
“His death has nothing to do with me,” Hu Yuanyuan said, adding in her mind, *It’s only related to Li Feng.*
“Enough pretense. We’re both smart people,” Fu Yanxiong said, shaking his head. He didn’t believe her. Even if she didn’t act herself, her people did. Li Feng? To him, Li Feng was just a smokescreen, a pawn pushed forward by Hu Yuanyuan, backed by the Li family.
“So, the Tianguan incident was your doing too?” Hu Yuanyuan asked coldly.
“Yes,” Fu Yanxiong admitted. Since things were out in the open, he saw no need to deny it. He was confident he could make her hand over the equipment without retaliation.
“Fu Yanxiong, you’re quite something,” Hu Yuanyuan said, her eyes flashing with cold anger. Guessing was one thing; confirmation was another. The Tianguan incident had nearly broken her. She’d never hated anyone so much.
Fu Yanxiong said calmly, “You were just a bit better. But now, hand over the equipment.”
“You think I’ll give it to you?” Hu Yuanyuan sneered.
“You have no choice,” Fu Yanxiong said confidently. “If you want to remain the Li family’s young mistress and Fengyuan Group’s president, you’ll give it to me.”
“You think you have that kind of power?” Hu Yuanyuan scoffed, incredulous that he’d threaten her now.
“I don’t, but you shouldn’t have exposed your secret in front of me. If you want me to keep it, hand over the equipment,” Fu Yanxiong said smugly.
“Secret? What secret?” Hu Yuanyuan was momentarily confused.
“Your affair with this pretty boy,” Fu Yanxiong said, pointing at Li Feng. “The Li family’s young mistress, Fengyuan Group’s president, entangled with a subordinate. Isn’t that your secret? If you don’t want it exposed, give me the equipment.”
“Mr. Fu, are you threatening us?” Li Feng said coldly before Hu Yuanyuan could respond.
“Yes, I am,” Fu Yanxiong sneered. “Pretty boy, you insisted on staying, didn’t you? Your arrogance handed me Hu Yuanyuan’s secret. I must say, you’re an idiot.”
“An idiot?” Li Feng’s lips curved into a smile, glancing at Fu Yanxiong. “I’m afraid your goal isn’t just the equipment, is it?”
“Correct. The equipment is a must, but keeping this secret won’t be easy,” Fu Yanxiong said smugly, certain he had Hu Yuanyuan cornered. If her affair as the Li family’s young mistress was exposed, neither the Li family nor her reputation would survive.
“Oh? What else do you want, Mr. Fu?”
“I have three conditions,” Fu Yanxiong said, looking at Hu Yuanyuan. “First, I want fifty percent of Fengyuan Group’s shares. Second, I want all the information you have on the Li family. Third, I want you, Hu Yuanyuan, to be my mistress.”
