“You look so different, I hardly recognised you.” Xu Qing gave a faint smile. She had graduated from Tianhai City University of Finance and Economics, so most of her classmates still lived in Tianhai City. This reunion only included those who had stayed in the city; very few from elsewhere had bothered to travel.
“Xu Qing, what are you doing now? Are you still working as an assistant at that same company?” the fashionable woman asked curiously.
“Yes, I am still at the original company,” Xu Qing nodded.
“Xu Qing, you were the top student in our class. Someone like you should not still be at that tiny company. Do you know Wang Mengying? He is a big boss now,” the fashionable woman said.

While everyone chatted, the private room door opened and a young man in a sharp suit walked in. It was none other than Wang Mengying. His eyes scanned the room, then fixed on Xu Qing.
“Xu Qing, long time no see,” Wang Mengying said with a smile as he approached her.
“Long time no see,” Xu Qing replied politely.
“How have you been? Still at that little company?” Wang Mengying asked. His gaze stayed only on Xu Qing; he completely ignored Li Feng sitting beside her.
“Yes,” Xu Qing thought to herself, that little company has now become a big one.
“What a pity. Why not come work for me? Staying at that small place will only bury your talent,” Wang Mengying said with a smile.
“Thank you, but I do not need to,” Xu Qing shook her head.
“And this is…” Only then did Wang Mengying notice Li Feng beside her.
“This is my…”
Before Xu Qing could finish, Li Feng put his arm around her waist and said, “I am Xu Qing’s boyfriend, Li Feng.”
“What? Xu Qing, he is your boyfriend?” Wang Mengying’s expression changed at once. His eyes locked on Xu Qing. He had pursued her for years and organised this reunion specifically to win her over, yet he never expected her to have a boyfriend already.
“Yes,” Xu Qing replied. With Li Feng’s arm around her, her body stiffened. She had not expected him to be so bold and take advantage of her, but in front of Wang Mengying, she could only let him.
Wang Mengying’s face darkened. He glanced at Li Feng, already thinking how to make him back off. Xu Qing was his; he would never let anyone else touch her.
“Wang Mengying, are your eyes only on Xu Qing?” one of the girls said unhappily.
“Of course not,” Wang Mengying forced a smile. Seeing everyone had arrived, he told the waiter to serve the food.
“Xu Qing, what does your boyfriend do?” Wang Mengying asked, looking at her.
“I am a freelancer,” Li Feng answered.
“A freelancer?” Wang Mengying paused, then sneered. “A freelancer means unemployed, right? Xu Qing, how could you choose someone like this as your boyfriend?”
“Exactly. Competition is fierce these days. How can someone with no job support a family? Xu Qing, you are being reckless,” the fashionable woman added.
“Xu Qing, back in school none of us could compare to you, but look at you now, dating a jobless bum. Do you really think this kind of life will work?”
“Xu Qing, you are a local in Tianhai City. Prices here are so high. With your salary, can you really support two people alone?”
“Yes, two now, maybe three or four later. Xu Qing, do you plan to support the whole family by yourself?” a girl wearing glasses chimed in.
Hearing this, Wang Mengying glared at her fiercely. What did she mean, implying Xu Qing and Li Feng would have children? He would never allow that to happen.
“Whatever the case, Li Feng is my boyfriend,” Xu Qing said. She did not understand why Li Feng claimed to be a freelancer, but since he said it, she could not contradict him or the lie would be exposed later.
“I think he is just a conman who deceives girls,” Wang Mengying looked at Li Feng and said to Xu Qing, “Xu Qing, do not let this man’s sweet talk fool you. People like him only know how to whisper pretty words to trick girls.”
“I deceive people? What business is it of yours whether I do or not?” Li Feng said coldly. He had known pretending to be a shield would be troublesome, and sure enough it was. Wang Mengying clearly wanted Xu Qing, and now that he saw Li Feng as her boyfriend, he could not stop the sarcasm. Still, Li Feng only sneered inwardly. This kind of person was not worth his attention. If he were not trying to win Xu Qing, he would never have come to this so-called reunion.
In his view, class reunions were nothing more than chances for people to show off; they had long lost their original meaning.
“I will not let a conman like you deceive Xu Qing. Stay away from her from now on,” Wang Mengying said, then turned to Xu Qing. “Xu Qing, do not be fooled by his looks. Men like him only want to play with you; they can never give you real happiness.”
“Wang Mengying, what did you just say?” Xu Qing stood up and stared at him coldly. Even if Li Feng were not really her boyfriend, she would not let anyone insult him like this, especially since Li Feng was the vice president of Fengyuan Group, the actual controller. Ten Wang Mengyings could not compare to him.
“Everyone calm down,” another classmate quickly tried to smooth things over. If they started fighting, the meal would be ruined.
Wang Mengying sat down angrily, gave Li Feng a cold glare, and thought, just wait, I will deal with you soon.
Li Feng paid no attention to the threat. If not for all these people, he would have taught him a lesson already. Calling him a conman? What nerve.
After the meal, Li Feng said to Xu Qing, “Xu Qing, shall we leave?”
Li Feng did not want to stay any longer. Listening to everyone boast had made him sick. Was this little bit of success worth showing off? Not to mention Xu Qing’s current position as presidential assistant at Fengyuan Group; how many here could match that?
“All right,” Xu Qing nodded and stood up.
“Xu Qing, it is rare for everyone to gather. Why leave so soon? Later I am taking everyone to Heaven on Earth for karaoke,” Wang Mengying said.
“No thanks, I have things to do,” Xu Qing shook her head.
“What, you will not even give me face?” Wang Mengying’s face darkened. He had gone to great trouble to organise this reunion, yet he kept getting slapped in the face. It made him furious.
“How much is your face worth?” Before Xu Qing could speak, Li Feng said coldly.
“You little shit, who gave you the right to talk? Keep running your mouth and see what happens,” Wang Mengying cursed loudly. He was the boss of an investment company; everyone usually treated him with respect. Now a jobless nobody kept disrespecting him. How could he stand it?
“How exactly will you not be polite?” Li Feng sneered.
“Kid, if you have guts, fight me one-on-one,” Wang Mengying said coldly. Back in school he had been a key member of the basketball club, and after entering society he still worked out. He could easily take three ordinary men, and looking at Li Feng’s weak frame, he thought he could crush him.
“Fine,” Li Feng sneered. If it were an ancient martial artist challenging him, he might think twice, but an ordinary person wanting a one-on-one? That was suicide.
“Wang Mengying, calm down,” Xu Qing’s classmates quickly held him back.
“Li Feng, let us go,” Xu Qing said. She knew Li Feng was extremely capable and had even killed before. Wang Mengying picking a fight with him was courting death. Since Wang was still her classmate, she did not want him humiliated too badly.
“Li Feng, if you have the balls, fight me, otherwise you are a coward and a bastard,” Wang Mengying roared as he saw Li Feng turning to leave.
Li Feng’s expression turned ice-cold. He spun around. “What did you say?”
“Fight me if you dare. If not, you are a coward and a bastard,” Wang Mengying stared at him.
“You are looking for death,” Li Feng said coldly and walked towards Wang Mengying.
“Li Feng, calm down,” one classmate blocked him.
Li Feng shoved him aside, stepped right up to Wang Mengying, and slapped him hard across the face.
Slap!
A clear handprint appeared on Wang Mengying’s cheek.
“You… you dare hit me?” Wang Mengying stared at Li Feng in disbelief, wondering if he was dreaming.
“What are you? Why would I not dare hit you?” Li Feng sneered and slapped him again.
Wang Mengying was stunned. Not just him, all of Xu Qing’s classmates were dumbfounded.
Wang Mengying was the boss of an investment company with powerful backers. Xu Qing’s boyfriend must be insane to hit him. If those backers found out, Li Feng would wish he were dead.
“This is a lesson. Watch your mouth in future,” Li Feng said coldly, then turned back to Xu Qing.
Only then did Wang Mengying snap out of it. The burning pain on his face told him this was real. Being slapped in front of everyone, how could he swallow this insult? If he did not get revenge on Li Feng, where would his dignity go? Today he would teach Li Feng a harsh lesson and get Xu Qing into bed, so she would know the price of crossing him.
With that thought, Wang Mengying pulled out his phone, made a call, then looked coldly at Li Feng. “Li Feng, you think you can just walk away? My men will be here any minute. Let us see how you die.”
