Li Wu’s face turned livid. He felt he had lifted a rock only to drop it on his own feet. He wanted to force Li Feng to submit with the family order, but Li Feng countered in the same way, reasonably and irrefutably, leaving him speechless.
If this really escalated to the family enforcement hall, it would be extremely unfavourable for him, not just personally, but it might give Li Chuanwei a chance to strike back at their branch.
He had underestimated Li Feng.
Li Wu’s heart turned icy. His carefully devised plan was not only easily broken, but it backfired on him.
Looking at Li Wu’s ashen face, Li Feng said coldly, “You just said I tore the family order. Let me tell you now, if it truly is a family order, there must be a backup in the family archives, also with the patriarch’s signature and seal. Do you dare go back with me to check?”
In modern Hua Xia families, like ancient dynasties passed down generations, rules were extremely strict to ensure longevity. As a top family, the Li family was even more so. The patriarch was like a nation’s leader. Every command, every word was recorded in detail.
The patriarch held the key to family development. For longevity, he could not act whimsically. The elder council supervised the patriarch. This was why, when Li Feng was seen as useless, Li Chuanwei and others considered abandoning him as heir.
One unable to lead the family to prosperity could not be heir. Hence the elaborate heir selection to test all abilities. Even the patriarch and elder council could not interfere.
In the family, the elder council only supervised the patriarch. It could not issue family orders unless removing the patriarch.
Li Feng seized this to counter Li Wu. Li Wu’s branch had many elder council supporters. This so-called order came from them.
But so what? The elder council was not the patriarch. As long as Li Chuanwei remained patriarch, Li Wu could not use a family order against him.
Li Wu’s face stayed livid. He said nothing.
“Hahaha, unexpected. Li Wu, your nerve is too great. No patriarch signature, yet you come here tricking Young Master Feng that this is a family order.” Song Zhiyuan laughed loudly. He had wondered how Li Feng would counter. He never expected it so fast and sharp.
“Song Zhiyuan, what business is it of yours?” Li Wu whipped around, staring coldly at Song Zhiyuan. Li Feng had already infuriated him. Hearing Song Zhiyuan’s mockery made him furious.
“Young Master Feng is my friend. I cannot watch him framed.” Song Zhiyuan sneered. Li Wu was truly rattled by Li Feng, yelling at him. Did he think that worked?
Turning, Song Zhiyuan said to Li Feng, “Young Master Feng, if you need help, just say. I, Song Zhiyuan, will do all I can.”
“Young Master Song is polite. I do need help. Today’s Fengyuan Group press conference will surely have clowns causing trouble. Then I need you to act and give them a profound lesson.” Li Feng’s gaze swept Fu Yanxiong and Li Wu, a chill flashing in his eyes.
“Young Master Feng, rest assured. I will not let these clowns succeed.” A glint flashed in Song Zhiyuan’s eyes. His gaze fell on Fu Yanxiong and Li Wu. He sneered.
“Song Zhiyuan, why stare at me?” Fu Yanxiong’s face turned livid. This time he felt he had miscalculated.
First, he never expected Li Feng to find the chemical machines. Though no confirmed news yet, Li Feng mentioned the abandoned mall. It could not be fake. When Li Feng’s men arrived, his subordinates could not hide them.
Second, he never expected Zhu Yuanyang to side with Li Feng today. He did not know why, but it was a bad sign. Had Zhu Yuanyang and Li Feng reached an agreement? Whatever the reason, it was not what he wanted.
Third, he never expected Li Wu to be so useless. Pressuring Li Feng with the family order, yet Li Feng countered so easily. If Li Wu was like this, could he really rely on him against Li Feng?
Seeing Song Zhiyuan’s ill-intentioned stare, Fu Yanxiong felt annoyed.
“I think Young Master Fu looks handsome wearing that hat all day.” Song Zhiyuan smiled.
Fu Yanxiong gave Song Zhiyuan a cold glance and said nothing. He felt Mu Jiajia’s plan was unworkable. If Li Wu wanted to deal with Li Feng, it would be hard short-term. He had to find his own way. He could not tolerate Li Feng’s arrogance continuing.
But Li Wu’s good scheme failed to force Li Feng’s hand. For a moment, Fu Yanxiong thought of no good method.
His gaze swept the lounge crowd. When it landed on one person, his eyes lit up.
A poisonous plan surged in his mind.
In a room not far from Tianfu Building, the entire Black Eagle team, except two squads on duty at Fengyuan Group, gathered, including Tian Lang.
“Boss, what does Young Master Feng mean by gathering us here?” a Black Eagle member asked Tian Lang, puzzled.
“Young Master Feng has his reasons. No more talk. Wait patiently.” Tian Lang glanced at him coldly.
In truth, he did not understand why Li Feng gathered them here, especially ordering them to follow Zhong Shuhui. It made Tian Lang uncomfortable, feeling undervalued by Li Feng.
Though uncomfortable, trusting Li Feng, he brought Black Eagle here to await Zhong Shuhui’s orders.
But nearly an hour passed. Why had Zhong Shuhui not appeared?
Bang!
At that moment, the door opened. Zhong Shuhui entered in military attire. She glanced coldly at the Black Eagle team and said, “The young master trained you painstakingly to solve his troubles. Now he has big trouble. Time for you to contribute and prove your value with effort.”
Her gaze swept the members. “Tian Lang.”
“Here.”
“Today you lead the first squad for target one. Here is target one’s file.” Zhong Shuhui handed him a file.
“Yes.” Tian Lang took it and read.
“Cang Ying.”
“Here.”
“Today you lead the second squad for target two. Here is the file.”
“Yes.”
“Hunting Leopard.”
“Here.”
“Today you lead the third squad for target three. Here is the file.”
“Yes.”
“Tian Lang and first squad stay. Others move out now.” Zhong Shuhui said gravely.
“Yes.”
After Cang Ying and Hunting Leopard left with their squads, only Tian Lang and four first squad members remained.
“Commander Zhong, anything else?” Tian Lang said gravely.
“I act with your first squad.” Zhong Shuhui said.
“Commander Zhong, you look down on me?” Tian Lang’s face shifted. He was the strongest in Black Eagle. Could he not handle a few people?
“Tian Lang.” Zhong Shuhui snorted coldly, staring at him. “When did I say I look down on you? Of the three targets, number one is the most troublesome and hardest. Are you confident?”
“Moreover, our opponents are not ordinary. They are elite agents from the Rice Country Intelligence Bureau. Tian Lang, you faced life-and-death in Africa, but against mercenaries. Rice Country agents are carefully trained. You do not understand them. How to fight? I know their methods better than you. So I must go with you.”
Pausing, Zhong Shuhui continued, “This action is decapitation. Must use the sharpest troops and methods, or it fails. They have experts. One move can kill you. With that attitude, if you ruin the young master’s plan, can you bear the consequences?”
“Now is critical. Drop your pettiness. This mission cannot fail. Tian Lang, if unsatisfied, challenge me after success. But now, obey my orders.” Zhong Shuhui stared coldly.
Tian Lang shuddered. His reaction stemmed from Zhong Shuhui being a woman, looking down on her inwardly. But her words reminded him of Li Feng’s earlier advice. He sobered.
Questioning Zhong Shuhui was questioning Young Master Feng. Thinking of brothers who died days ago, Tian Lang realised his old habit resurfaced.
“Commander Zhong, let us go.” Tian Lang said gravely.
Zhong Shuhui glanced at him, said nothing. She knew Tian Lang distrusted her for being a woman, lacking strength. She would prove with facts: never underestimate women.
Zhong Shuhui and Tian Lang led the first squad out, soon reaching a bar entrance.
Zhong Shuhui’s gaze fell on the bar door, chilling. “Rice Country Intelligence Bureau agents are inside. Kill in. Leave none.”
