“Young Master, rest assured. I will definitely kill him.” The leopard-masked man cast a cold glance at Li Feng, murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
“I hope you do not disappoint me. Otherwise…” The tiger-masked youth gave a cold snort. The Tianyuan Spirit Fruit and the Wind-Thunder Array talisman had cost him tremendous effort to obtain. He would never have wagered them if not for the three Foundation-Building Pills.
Yet he never once considered the possibility of losing. He had absolute confidence in the subordinate beside him. Moreover, Li Feng was only in his early twenties. How strong could he possibly be?
Li Feng gave the tiger-masked youth a cold glance, then handed a bank card to Zhong Shuhui. “Go place the bet in a moment. Put everything on me winning.”
This time he would not only take the youth’s Tianyuan Spirit Fruit and Wind-Thunder Array talisman, he would also make a fortune.
“Leave it to me, Young Master.” A sharp glint passed through Zhong Shuhui’s eyes. She knew Li Feng’s strength perfectly well. As long as his opponent was not an innate-realm expert, Li Feng had every chance of victory.
News of the death-match wager between Li Feng and the tiger-masked youth spread through the entire Arena like wildfire. When people heard the stakes were three Foundation-Building Pills against a Tianyuan Spirit Fruit and a second-grade Wind-Thunder Array talisman, excitement reached fever pitch. Such enormous stakes had never appeared since the Arena opened that day.
“What? Someone is wagering Foundation-Building Pills?” In one of the private boxes, a young man wearing a fox mask asked incredulously of the bunny girl who had just entered.
“Yes, sir,” the bunny girl nodded. The stakes were so high that the Arena’s management had instructed all servers to inform every VIP. The young man before her was one of them.
“Very well. You may go.” The youth tossed several hundred-yuan notes to the bunny girl.
She caught the money and quickly left the box.
“Foundation-Building Pills. I never expected them to appear this time. I must obtain them,” the youth said, a sharp glint in his eyes.
“Young Master, anyone who can produce Foundation-Building Pills must have an extraordinary background. I just received word that five such pills are also being auctioned tonight. It may well be the same person,” an old man wearing a mask beside him immediately remarked.
A gleam flashed across the youth’s eyes. “You are right. But this is our opportunity. We cannot let it pass.”
At the same time, in another private box, a slender woman wearing a cartoon mask asked the young man beside her, “Brother, do you think the person wagering the Foundation-Building Pills is Li Feng?”
“Li Feng?” The young man in a panda mask shook his head. “Little sister, that’s impossible. Li Feng probably consumed all his Foundation-Building Pills long ago. Why would he wager them?”
“That may not be true. I think it might be him,” the woman insisted, shaking her head.
“We will know soon enough once we watch. But I think the chances are slim,” the young man replied.
“Please register your names,” the old man at the counter said to Li Feng and the leopard-masked fighter.
“Shura.” Li Feng was currently wearing a Shura mask, so he only gave that name. Real names were never used in the Arena.
“Leopard.” The leopard-masked man reported his name, then stared coldly at Li Feng. “Shura, is it? In a moment you will be a dead Shura.”
Li Feng gave a cold laugh. “Just you?”
Zhong Shuhui returned at that moment. “Young Master, everything is placed. The payout is one to three.”
“One to three? I did not expect so many people to think highly of me.” Li Feng laughed coldly, but inwardly he was thrilled. At one-to-three odds, his five billion would become twenty billion. That was far more profitable than anything else, and he would also gain the Tianyuan Spirit Fruit and the Wind-Thunder Array talisman.
The Arena had a dedicated stage for death-match wagers. Li Feng and the leopard-masked man were quickly scheduled.
On the stage, Leopard looked at Li Feng coldly. “Kid, your greatest mistake was stepping into the ring yourself. Now there is only one path left for you: death.”
“Hah! If you want to kill me, we will see whether you have the ability.” Li Feng laughed coldly and stared back. “You call yourself Leopard? Today I will turn you into a dead leopard.”
“Court death!”
Leopard roared in fury and shot forward.
“Black Wind Palm!”
Locking onto Li Feng, a ferocious grin appeared on Leopard’s face. He struck out with a palm. A millstone-sized black palm of true qi, accompanied by a violent sonic boom, howled towards Li Feng.
Li Feng stood motionless, a cold smile on his lips. He casually threw a single punch.
Seeing Li Feng neither dodge nor block, fury flashed in Leopard’s eyes. He poured more true qi into the attack, causing the black palm to swell dramatically. He intended to finish Li Feng with one blow.
Boom!
Fist met palm with a heaven-shaking explosion. Shockwaves radiated in all directions.
Thud, thud, thud!
The instant they clashed, Leopard grunted and staggered back several steps. Li Feng did not move an inch.
“Impossible!”
Leopard stared at Li Feng in disbelief. He knew his own strength perfectly well. Though Black Wind Palm was not his ultimate technique, it was not something ordinary people could break. He had never imagined Li Feng would shatter it so easily.
“Useless trash.”
Down below the stage, the tiger-masked youth’s eyes filled with anger when he saw Leopard forced back.
“Brother, it really is Li Feng!”
In one of the boxes, the cartoon-masked woman watched the stage through the observation window and excitedly said to the young man beside her, “Even with the mask, I am certain it is him.”
“So it really is him.” A sharp glint appeared in the young man’s eyes. He did not doubt his sister’s words. She possessed a unique ability others did not. If she said the man wearing the Shura mask was Li Feng, then it was Li Feng.
“I wonder just how strong Li Feng has become,” the young man said, anticipation written across his face.
“Definitely stronger than you, brother,” the woman replied without hesitation.
The young man rolled his eyes at her, beginning to wonder whether this girl was truly his sister.
On the stage.
“Damn you.” Leopard glared at Li Feng, murderous intent surging in his eyes. “You actually broke my Black Wind Palm. You are dead.”
“I am dead? I wonder if I beat the stupidity out of you, saying something so idiotic.” Li Feng looked at Leopard coldly. “Let me tell you this: the one dying today will not be me, but you. Besides, with your skill, do you really think you can kill me?”
Leopard’s face stiffened. His eyelids twitched violently. He laughed in extreme rage. “Good, good. Today I will show you whether I have the strength to kill you.”
With that, a smile appeared on Leopard’s face. He stepped forward.
Boom!
A surge of energy exploded from beneath his foot. The entire stage trembled. Had it not been made of extremely hard diamond stone, the platform would probably have cracked.
“Good!”
“Kill him!”
“Kill!”
The spectators below roared with excitement. To them, a battle between ancient martial artists was far more thrilling than any action film. While shouting, they frantically placed more bets.
“Brother, how much money do you still have?” the cartoon-masked woman asked in their box.
“What are you planning?” The young man looked at her warily. Whenever she mentioned money, nothing good ever came of it.
“To place a bet, of course,” she answered.
“Bet? No way, no way.” He shook his head repeatedly. Since arriving in the underground city, she had placed countless bets and lost everything every single time.
“Brother, the one down there is Li Feng. Do you think he can lose?” She pointed at the stage.
At those words, the young man immediately grabbed the laptop beside him and started typing.
“Brother, what are you doing?” she asked, stunned.
“Placing a bet. How could Li Feng possibly lose? It would be a crime not to earn this money.” He hit the enter key with finality.
“Brother, you… you put everything down?” She hurried over and stared at the long string of zeroes on the screen, utterly shocked.
“Could Li Feng lose? Impossible.” The young man looked completely certain.
On the stage.
Leopard revelled in the attention. Looking at Li Feng, he smiled smugly. “Kid, earlier I only used thirty percent of my strength. Did you really think that was enough to defeat me? Hmph. Even if I let you have three free moves, I could still kill you effortlessly.”
“Is that so?”
Li Feng gave a cold laugh. “I hope you remember those words.”
Clang!
The moment he spoke, a large blade appeared in his hand. He slashed out.
“…”
Leopard had been about to speak again, but the instant he opened his mouth, an enormous blade light, whistling through the air with overwhelming force, came slashing towards him. In that moment, every hair on his body stood on end.
“So strong!”
Leopard’s expression changed drastically. His scalp went numb. He no longer cared about posturing and roared, throwing a punch.
“Mountain-Crushing Fist!”
Pouring every ounce of true qi into the strike, Leopard unleashed a massive golden fist of energy that hurtled towards Li Feng’s blade light.
Boom!
The blade light, fast as lightning, struck the golden fist. A thunderous explosion rang out.
Endless shockwaves spread in all directions. At that moment, a ring of light appeared around the stage, absorbing the impact and rendering it harmless.
Leopard’s golden fist held for only an instant before it was cleaved apart. The blade light continued unabated, slashing straight at Leopard.
His face paled. He frantically struck out with both palms, shattering the blade light.
“Die!”
At that very moment, Li Feng leapt into the air. The air around him churned violently as he delivered a ferocious punch straight down at Leopard.
